Hi mate my son is interested in the dairy industry and his mates with Thomas Rogerson, question for both of you how much silage do you get In a year and what's your best yield?
Love your working farm life videos. I love your cattle Tom they are so quite it shows how you work with them and care for them. Top stockman. The Ginger Warrior is fantastic and so knowledgable about farming. Keep up the good work
The pallets looked just right for the job Tom. Good old baler twine a farmers best friend!! Great to see you and your dad working together - dad passing on all his wisdom to his younger son - it’s good to see, your a true credit to a good family life.
I’ve had that same thing happened to back years ago. Had the cow jump up on me like it did you. I didn’t know what it was so with out thinking I swung around and punched the cow. Needless to say, she never tried that again. I can’t wait for next Sunday’s talk with you and your dad.
Funny you say that i did the same to my jersey and hurt my hand a couple of months later she tried again so i gave her a slap to protect my hand lol she never tried it again
The old man knows his stuff ,!!! its great to watch your growth with livestock with your fathers hand on your shoulder . Tom, you are a great herdsmen . Some of this is your own, and some belongs to you're dad !. either way keep on showing the life of a dairy herdsman to the general consumer......, the people who think milk turns up in the supermarket with no thought about how it it produced . Happy Christmas to all at the the Pemberton Farm Company
I've heard your dad say "when we had the hill farm" my question would be what's the story behind the hill farm and how did you end up with the farm your farming now? Big fan of your channel 🤙🏻
Do you have pigs? The pig is a cows best friend. Thanks for the videos and the time spent on making them for our enjoyment. The wife and I sure are glad to have found your channel. Thank you.
Hi Tom i have watched a lot of your videos and i like them but i like them even more when your Dad is in them anyway from my family to your family we wish all your family a very happy and joyous Christmas and a very prosperous new year
Hi Tom. That's best things to have on a farm u can use them for every thing. Temp fence temp calf pen and what you have just uesd them for. Temp lambing pens roof then put a sheet over the top. And 90% off the time you get them free so all good. From Andy
@@TomPembertonFarmLife ok well nice barns .and it looks close to u that's main thing. I would got back to you earlier. I will c u your next video u put up and c what you bin up to. Keep up the good work.
Very good idea putting those pallets across the gates ,Have you thought f hanging an old tarpaulin from the roof will help keep them warm on really cold nights.
Have ye ever considered changing yer calving systems,as in aiming for a spring or autumn calving system,or both, help keep all yer heifers around the same age and fit for breeding together
Pemberton boarding 😂. Least you managed to sort the draught out. I can see the ginger warrior just turning in a captain mainwaring style 'you stupid boy' 😂 I've no idea why though!
Hey Tom you need to come to New Zealand and see how we farm we run 1800 cattle heifers and calves included all out side nothing inside calves only inside two weeks then back out it will be huge experiance for you at how polar opposite the systems are take care
Cattle are looking really well Tom! Only brought the last of mine in Thursday and that's only because I've run out of grass now 😂 Think I'm gunna have a lot of silage leftover in the spring 😂😂
Question for the ginger warrior, now that you are not being cut off in mid flow by young Thomas will you be regular in chatting and passing on your knowledge, your channel Tom is great, a good balance of the experienced & wise with the young & learning can relate across a variety of people keep up the good work 👍
What were your thoughts on the whole crop you grew last year? Was it economic and what was the siladge analasis in comparison to this years grass siladge, how did the milk yield vary and how did you suplement the ration in comparision. If you want you could do this as a more detailed answer in another video with your Dad later, i apreciate that its more technical than your general content.
Please tell us a bit of a history of the farm. Has it been in the family a long time? You mentioned a hill farm before. Was that before this farm and why did you move?
Hi Tom. We use digi star TMR tracker on the diet feeder. Have you thought about using something like it to make doing your day to day costings more accurate?
Hey tom, what did you do after school, Did you go to college of what courses and classes if any did you do to give you the best advantages when beginning your farming career
Another solid video, Tom. Always nice to see you and your dad work so well together, even though I'm sure you must drive each other mad every now and again. My question for the Q&A - I know your herd are working animals, but do you have/have you had any favourites, or do any stand out as real characters? If you do, what makes them special?
2 questions for Dad :- a) British Summertime was introduced in 1916 and there is mounting pressure to abolish it. Do you have any strong feelings either way ? b) Do you listen to Radio 4's 'Farming Today' ?
Hi tom ..do you and your dad always see eye to eye ..who wares the trousers....what part of the farm do you have a say in ..I use to work with my uncle and it was his way or no way ...old school v new school 👍👍
Tom what’s your long term plan for the farm up the cow numbers or stick to what you have are you going down the robot milking route in the future? And also why did you pick the brown Swiss instead of the likes of jerseys for your grass based system.?
Hi Tom, noticed ya dad limps,,, is this an injury from climbing in and out of tractors, etc,, I spent my whole life In and out of tractors, diggers and iam just getting the hip, knee probs,,, looks like a farmers complaint. Great vids,, been watching them whilst in my own tractor, on dinner breaks,,
You can remind people that there's a Closed Captions option on UA-cam too, if audio's pretty poor. Its not great or very accurate, but I find it helpful as it gets some words right and then I can figure out what's being said. :)
Tom, why do you not ai heifers? Is it purely down to the labour involved with heat detection? We'd always consider heifers to have the best genetics and fertility, and as to expediate whatever genetic gains you are after!
Hey time nice vid agen mate nice to see u gettin on with the girls lmfao Question for the ginger worrier for the q&q How long have you been farming for and how many generations of farmin had there been with the family Love the vids keep up the work mate 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Tom your father talked about fat and protean in the milk with the Brown Swiss, have you ever tried to put some Jersey in some cows since they are a breed known for the fat and protean? if not is there a reason?
You've got a bull that will father calves, when the calves get to breeding age do you get rid or get another bull? I'm naive to all this so haven't a clue on breeding lines
I’m going to put a “👍” for all the questions that I’ll try to answer in the Q&A. Just so people know I have read the comment 😀
