    Love your working farm life videos. I love your cattle Tom they are so quite it shows how you work with them and care for them. Top stockman. The Ginger Warrior is fantastic and so knowledgable about farming. Keep up the good work

    I’ve had that same thing happened to back years ago. Had the cow jump up on me like it did you. I didn’t know what it was so with out thinking I swung around and punched the cow. Needless to say, she never tried that again.
    I can’t wait for next Sunday’s talk with you and your dad.

      Funny you say that i did the same to my jersey and hurt my hand a couple of months later she tried again so i gave her a slap to protect my hand lol she never tried it again

    The old man knows his stuff ,!!! its great to watch your growth with livestock with your fathers hand on your shoulder . Tom, you are a great herdsmen . Some of this is your own, and some belongs to you're dad !. either way keep on showing the life of a dairy herdsman to the general consumer......, the people who think milk turns up in the supermarket with no thought about how it it produced .     I've heard your dad say "when we had the hill farm" my question would be what's the story behind the hill farm and how did you end up with the farm your farming now?

    Hi Tom. That's best things to have on a farm u can use them for every thing. Temp fence temp calf pen and what you have just uesd them for. Temp lambing pens roof then put a sheet over the top. And 90% off the time you get them free so all good. From Andy

But bin moving land rover shasise and pats around just renting a small work shop. So I can catch up on stuff. Got 4 land rovers to fix and weld up plus my to grey fergie.s and 2 to range rovers then new cluch in a massy 165 and a new wirering loom in. . I will c u your next video u put up and c what you bin up to. Keep up the good work.

    Very good idea putting those pallets across the gates ,Have you thought f hanging an old tarpaulin from the roof will help keep them warm on really cold nights.

    Have ye ever considered changing yer calving systems,as in aiming for a spring or autumn calving system,or both, help keep all yer heifers around the same age and fit for breeding together

    Hey Tom you need to come to New Zealand and see how we farm we run 1800 cattle heifers and calves included all out side nothing inside calves only inside two weeks then back out it will be huge experiance for you at how polar opposite the systems are take care

    Only brought the last of mine in Thursday and that's only because I've run out of grass now 😂

    Ino the pallets block the wind a good bit but if u want to block it completely u should stuff some straw in the gaps of the pallets

    What were your thoughts on the whole crop you grew last year? Was it economic and what was the siladge analasis in comparison to this years grass siladge, how did the milk yield vary and how did you suplement the ration in comparision. If you want you could do this as a more detailed answer in another video with your Dad later, i apreciate that its more technical than your general content.

    Hi Tom. We use digi star TMR tracker on the diet feeder. Have you thought about using something like it to make doing your day to day costings more accurate?

    a) British Summertime was introduced in 1916 and there is mounting pressure
    to abolish it. Do you have any strong feelings either way ?

    Nothing wrong with using fert pallets as wind breaks, they have been used for years as pens for stock.

    You can remind people that there's a Closed Captions option on UA-cam too, if audio's pretty poor. Its not great or very accurate, but I find it helpful as it gets some words right and then I can figure out what's being said. :)

    Tom, why do you not ai heifers? Is it purely down to the labour involved with heat detection? We'd always consider heifers to have the best genetics and fertility, and as to expediate whatever genetic gains you are after!
