the hot summer days a nightmare in these steel sausages haha, so excited to to get to the canals, farrrr more shade.heat and cassette loos dont mix well haaa awesome vlogging take care guys :)
Hahaha agreed!! I bet you would've loved to hide under a tree - I can imagine the marina is a little exposed to the elements! 😧 Yep, the heat was NOT great for the smell 😂😂 Thanks both for watching! 🥰
Lynn here on Hubby's phone 😏, OMG !!!, It was warm enough in our house , we had the fan on all the time , don't think I could have breathed with out it 😳🤪, Aw bless little Ruffe's he's so good , it Amazes me how a lot of the dogs on the boats don't try and jump in the water ,. Take care xxxx
Yeah we really need to invest in a fan next year! 😂 Yeah Rufus likes water but only to paddle in, he's less confident jumping in - thankfully! Take care Lynn! x
We live in Queensland Australia and our temps hit 45c plus. Great tip if you don’t have air con. Buy a large standup fan, get a tea towel or a few of them wet them and freeze over night. Set your fan going in front of your door or duck hatch and place the tea towel over the fan and soak up the cool breeze. I hope this helps for next summer. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh yah heatwave. I feel yr lassitude. Sometimes use a long narrow cotton bag filled with wheat or barley heads. Stick in fridge or freezer for 45 mins, hang around neck for cool, microwave 45 secs for heat or sore muscles. Lovely. Dont think you can use gel cat litter in a stocking for this.
Heat is one of the reasons sailing yachts have white decks - really makes a difference. Our boat was cooler inside than outside (in the mediterranean) and then got too hot in the evening when we were cooking. Another tip I heard: windscoops/hatch windsocks to create draught (could be done with sheets, I've heard).
I look forward to each episode of you both and your pets. I admire the fact that you care so much about your pets above your own "want to do things". Please always keep it real as I admire you both for having the time of your lives. My very best wishes to you both.
Amy, Wes, It was too hot that week and being on a boat open to the Sun must have been uncomfortable. Great idea with the foil. Nice to see Rufus and Dupes sitting out (so-to-speak) the heat inside of the boat together. Amy, your hair looked lovely combed down after your shower. The Horn works! "It's a Miracle" You both got so excited which made me laugh. A delightful Vlog. Thank you. Have a lovely week. Take Care.
Yeah it was really intense heat, so glad we managed to hide in some trees! Yes!! The horn working definitely lifted our sweaty spirits 😂😂 Thank you, and take care too! 🥰
Best thing for the windows is radiator foil cut to shape and placed inside on the window: can be taken on and off as required and allows the hopper windows to stay open.
I used to wet my house down in the heat & it reduced the temp by 10 degrees. This year I prepared for summer heat by placing mirror foil on the windows which you get from a hardware store. It has paid off by not needing the air con as much. It also helps retain heat in the winter.
Stay cool it’s 110 here in Las Vegas USA I know you all aren’t used to extreme heat so be safe And safe travels I so enjoy you two and your journeys here on YT thanks for sharing Chips are on the way 🎉lol enjoy
A lovely vlog, I feel for you and the pets in the heatwave living onboard a metal boat! Thank goodness our U.K. heatwaves are short lived! I really enjoy your vlogs, take care both of you and the pets too. X
Aaaagh! I'm famous! 😂 Great vlog - brought it all back: floppy, sweating and living in a cave 😓 You did brilliantly! *And* you still have an Andrew Bird (love him) gig to look forward to, sometime. Take care, lovelies
I have to admit during the heatwave I did steal my dog’s cooling mat a couple of times. He has 2 now so I get to keep it for myself. Glad you did okay, stay safe xx
Wow it certainly was hot. Glad you managed to move into the shade. I’m sure that helped. Glad your beep is now sorted. No more plastic air horn required! 😂 Take care. Nick
Thank you for letting me chug with along the temperature ordeal. This summer I cooled my apartment (flat) roof with a lawn sprinkler, and it really helps cooling the rooms. It is not similar to airco, but it's a relatively simple cooling method. Crucial is the humidity in the air, it much easier to bear high temp when the air is relatively dry. I love the way you film and edit your life, great music, too! Is it a subscription for UA-cam content creators? Well, again - I feel very connected, in my humble opinion you are doing a great job. All that is left is finding a storage solution for the bikes :-) Narrowboat Will has his bike on the bow, but he does not have a rabbit living there! Happy cruising guys!
Thanks for coming along with us! That's a great idea with the sprinkler! Genius! Thank you so much, that means a lot. A lot of people use Epidemic Sound like us - it's a monthly subscription but well worth it :) Thanks again! 🥰
@@BoatTime well, a garden water hose with a lawn sprinkler is quite a contraption, though it will look spectacular on a moving narrowboat! I would consider wet towels or cloth on the roof to contain some water to evaporate, that's all it takes to retrieve warmth off the roof, evaporating water moves heat out of the roof, thus cooling the stuff below! You can first try out one wet towel to test the effectiveness. Good luck!
I think you did better than us during the heatwave although moving to a shady spot is definitely a good plan if we have these heatwaves more often. I think a nice spot up river where I can swim and Bert can wade up to his tummy (as he likes it) would be perfect!
Aw thank you! Yeah moving the boat was a game changer! I can't imagine how hard it was in the open in your marina! It's nice that you could go swimming though, bless Bert! 🥰🥰
OK traveling down the Grand Onion in the hot heat and to see the two of you honking is hilarious but I have to share with you from Dallas Texas that on average 2 to 3 months a year we are over 102 103° and on a good day 108° so I sympathize with you because I know that’s not the norm for you guys but I have to give you a thumbs up for trying the foil on the window is freaking hilarious
I'm new to your channel and loving your adventures and sense of humour .Congrats on being brilliant vloggers. I'VE got same humour coming from Sheffield. Only being watching a few days and allredy in the top 3 narrowboaters.love that both of you are so down to earth.
Worst couple of days of my life🥵 went for that old head in the freezer thingy🤣 Good to see you got through it ok the four of you, and the horn works!😃 stay safe as always guys😃😉xxxx another great vlog as always🚣♀️🚣
Oh bless you both, great sun proofing which you really needed with that crazy heat we had. I’m sure in no time the leaves will be dropping and out come the winter coats. At least we’ve had some decent summer weather this year 🤗🥰🤗
Those are extremely high temps. So glad you and the pets did ok. I often spray as much of the roof of my house as possible when it gets hot, so that was a good idea for your roof. It seems to help. Take care. 🙏😊🤗 Kathy
12:02 Lovely! Looks delicious :D Too bad Rufus isn't vegan, he's missing out haha! We hit 45 and broke a lot of records recently and this is an area not a lot of people have AC. Craziness!
Hi Wes and Amy, Greetings from Tasmania Australia. We did a family cruise from Wrenbury to Llangollen and return in 2011 and loved it, so relaxing. Your vlogs are so awesome. Thank you for sharing your experiences on the canals. Stay cool guys and keep smiling 😃😃
Rufus will be use to the heat coming from Gran Canaria. Aren't you glad you trimming your bunny ? We have that heat for 3 months here. Glad you all survived. Colin on Gran Canaria
I stopped over at Bramble Cuttings for those two days, still had boat half in sun for some of the day but I could sit in the woodland 🔥 Tried leaving doors open at night but became an insect pin cushion 😭

Hi randomn question. In you're videos I keep seeing Amy wearing sandals with 2 starts and now I'm looking for them in the videos I can't see them. If you see this please cab you let me know where their from ? Thanks
Watching this in April 24, snuggled under my duvet trying to get my nose warmed. It's sooo cold. Thank you for the rays of Sunshine
It’s so funny to see people in England get excited by the rain! 😂😂😂❤

Ah we might have to try inside some time, we were worried about the thin windows cracking!
Here’s honking at you for giving it a try
😂📯

I remember when the UK got those heatwaves a year ago. We managed to avoid them here in Toronto Canada. Cheers
Where I live, people put the foil on the inside of the windows with tape.
Something to think about.
Great video!
Thank you! 🥰 We thought about that but were worried the glass might be too thin and crack under the heat!

Currently in a cold snap here in canada and these heat wave videos are giving me life!! -25 is not cool lol

Awww well done in the heat wave and so gd you always put the pets first proud of you tc now Ann n David 👍😉👋🤗

What I do for my fur babies in the heat, is add a few ice cubes in their water bowl. 💗Kay
Ooh yes that's a good trick - thanks Kay! 🥰
@@BoatTime 🤗
We were on the Norfolk Broads through that heatwave. Cool mat for the dog was perfect along with a wet tea towel seemed to do the trick.
Glad you got through it. That's it for another year x
Hopefully haha! 😂 ready for autumn now! 😊
Wow it certainly was hot. Glad you managed to move into the shade. I’m sure that helped. Glad your beep is now sorted. No more plastic air horn required! 😂 Take care. Nick
Yeah those few days were very intense, the shade was definitely the right move for us. Yep, a proper horn!! Who could believe it 😂😂 Take care!

Take care with the puppies feet on hot surfaces like sealed roads and paths. They do blister from the heat
Yeah we are always careful of this 😊

Thank you!!
I can't remember if I asked you guys before, but who painted the lovely designs on the outside of the boat? They are stunning

Oh no! Yeah the heat can be really unpleasant!! Bring on autumn! 🥰

We have canals in Phoenix but no locks. Our heat is insane, couldn't live without A/C. You need at least a swamp cooler if not AC.
In the UK the heat very rarely gets this bad, only occasionally so we don’t really have AC and stuff!
Thanks for watching 😊

hi guys ,love the show,,,,,,,,,, whould the foil work on the inside the same ?
We did think that but we didn't know if the thin windows could take the heat being reflected back through them! Thank you! xx
