Ajust the valve lash and try it again.

Is the cylinder with 90psi where the exhaust manifold leak is? That could've caused valve damage over time. And I second what Chris said.

@allenscarsandstuff Okay, I'm sorry you're dealing with that on there. At least you caught it before there were more problems, but it sounds like the heads will probably have to come off either way. Hopefully it's just a valve job, that's better than piston rings. I wish I lived closer to you, I'd offer to come over and help.

      I appreciate that my friend.
My brother in law said he would help me, but I'm not sure if I have time or the money to fix it.
Also pulling the heads might let worms out of a can I didn't know about! Haha Like broken bolts and maybe a bad exhaust manifold.
I was planning on selling it anyway.

@allenscarsandstuff I understand that, that's a big project, I know what you mean, there's always something hiding in there. Just make sure you're okay selling it, I've sold cars that I didn't want to or couldn't repair at the time that I still really wish I still had and can't find another one, and even if I did, the same memories wouldn't be in it.

Allen maybe you can squirt a little motor oil in the weaker cylinders (especially number 6 with 90 psi) and see if the compression rises. If it does your valves are leaking. If it doesn't then your rings maybe worn.

That's true, but I was thinking of selling this one anyway, so I'll let someone else fix it. I just don't have the time or money to send on it. Plus I still have my Riviera.

It's an awesome Cadillac. Way more inexpensive to repair than today's cars.
Maybe you'll change your mind and hang onto it. If you ever want to.replace it Allen it will be tough to locate another one.

Looks like the Cadillac needs a little love 😊,,I'd pull the value covers & crank it over make sure all the rockers are moving properly,,if they are I'd say the old 390 s ready for a valve job probably a burnt valve on 6 ,,,love the old Cadillac motors they could have problems &still get ya home without walking 👍 👍

I did that to my buddies buick. Zero compression between two cylinders. Pulled the valve covers and ajusted valve lash. It ran great after that.

@@antone2tone do they just get out of adjustment all at once?
I've had this car for about 18 years, and it runs great.
I have an exhaust leak at the manifold on that side, but it's been leaking for 18 years.
What happened is it started and ran fine, but I'd get out on the road and it seems like a clog in the exhaust because it won't run right at speed and acts like it's going to stall but doesn't stall. So I floored it and BOOM 💥 the passenger side muffler exploded! Ran great after that! Got back home, put it in the garage and I finally got time to do a compression check.
I'm thinking it dumped raw fuel into the exhaust and ignited.
Maybe a valve guide seal or carbon build up on the valve causing it to pass unburned fuel.

@@allenscarsandstuff your right they don't go out of whack all at once. Must have been alot of carbon build up were the exhaust leak was. Sometimes you gotta do some flooring to get the cobwebs out.

@@allenscarsandstuff sorry what I ment was i figured the valves on what cylinders was low compression I would have checked lash and if there was an exhaust leak around the manifold carbon would have coated that exhaust valve... Flooring it would get the exhaust valve hot enough and break up the carbon on the valve. I think. I like trying to figure out them engine problems buddy

      Oh ok.
The leak is all the way to the back near the firewall and the low cylinder is the next one forward. I guess it could still have carbon.
I usually floor it at least once every time I drive it! Haha
Pretty quick for a big girl! 390 big block 10.5 to 1 compression.
