Hi Charles, his appearance in black belt magazine in 71 must have been one of his greatest achievements. Explaining and promoting further the Art of Jeet kun do. As he did in Longstreet,return of the Dragon,Enter the Dragon,and Game of Death. Such a unique individual,gone so young in life.

I bought my copy the month and year it was issued. I have other Black Belt magazines with Bruce Lee interviews, going back to around 1966. There are dozens of BB Magazines from that era as well.

@@CharlesDamianoBLC My top 3 in my collection are Kung Fu Monthly Number 1, X2 3ft by 3ft Bruce Lee displays from Seni 08 in London. One was a still of Bruce getting ready to fight Sammi Hung. The other was from the Green Hornet screen test of Bruce sitting in a chair. Both signed by Shannon Lee. Nothing else springs to mind at the moment.
@@CharlesDamianoBLC I am going to keep my eyes out for a mint copy of Black belt pre death 71. Very hard to get mint nowadays and if you do see it, costs a lot.
Yes I have seen some on ebay in excellent condition going for $250-$350! And that was not a mint copy!

Another important piece for any true Bruce Lee fan’s library. In this article Bruce Lee promoted “liberation” and “freedom” from fixed styles and routines. Although it wasn’t well received at the time, today it is accepted as truth. Bruce was so ahead of his time that it took several decades to finally grasp and understand his point. Great segment Charlie!

He introduced JKD back In October and November ,1967's Black Belt.He talked of JKD too in 2 part story interview by Maxwell Pollard.

Luckily I had a copy of the 1971 Black belt issue from my collecting days back in the day. I don't remember where I got it from. Must have been off of ebay long time ago or another online source.

Thank you Brooks! Appreciate your support! I have seen the 1971 Black Belt go in range from $200 - $400 and higher...depending on the condition of the magazine! Obviously a Mint copy can demand the higher price due to the scarcity of copies in mint condition!
So we learn that the line " finger pointing to the moon " in Enter the Dragon, already existed in Bruce Lee his mind and used it in his film ETD.
I wonder how many lines did Bruce used of his in ETD?

Thanks for your comment and observation! So true! I believe Bruce Lee has a ton to say and knew what he wanted to share with the world, long before his movies came out. His philosophies, thoughts and Jeet Kune Do lessons were all written out in his journals and writing that he kept (had over 6000 pages of writings) and was just waiting for the opportunity to EXPRESS them on film! Other examples in Enter the Dragon was his thoughts to the Monk after his opening fight scene! ("I do not HIT, IT hits all by itself etc) and also the scene on the boat when he shares his JKD thoughts by telling the Challenger (My Style, I guess you can call it the art of fighting without fighting") LOL Thanks again my friend!
