The comments are ridiculous so let me help some of you. Gamefreak has stated this game was made for casual players. It's great marketing actually. They're bringing all the kids and nostalgia Go players into a Pokemon game that is formatted in basically the same way as the core series. They've also stated that we're getting our core series game in 2019. LGPE is not generation 8 of Pokemon. We will be getting gen 8 in 2019 that they've said will follow the traditional Pokemon format. This allows them to spend more time on gen 8 while also satisfying the casuals so we can get a more challenging/less hand-holdy game. This is great for Pokemon and should be excited that a spin-off for kids looks this good.
Yeah, I don't understand the hate and I am a pokefan since my birth (19 years).
The one problem is. This game isn't a Spin-Off. If it were I hadn't any problems with it. But this a core game. And I just can't accept this, so do many overs. How will it even come up with other core games? It has a complete different mechanic stats wise. Also it just allowes 152 Pokémon. I barrely think you can trade besides from go and the other Let's Go Version.
I just can't accept that they name it a core game. Otherwise it looks cool to me. Spin-Off's always made Pokémon good but in a different way. I don't have a problem with the game itself. It's just that what I can't get in my mind.

It is not a core game. Gamefreak have officially stated that this is a different take on the game, aka a spin-off. They've also officially stated that the 2019 titles will be our traditional Pokemon core games (generation 8).

Pikachu learns double kick, Oddish is now in the Veridian Forest, bulbasaur is a wild pokemon and ... You´re not allow to battle Brock if you dont have a super-effective pokemon in your party. This is not for casual players, this is for babies. :-/ 6:00

Pikachu still isn't that strong and Brock's Pokemon are physically capable of taking a few bits from it and dishing the damage back to it hard.
The only thing I don't like is that restriction because hey, people want a challenge but then again, this game isn't for me and probably you.
At least it’s only the Brock battle. You can just bring in a 1 HP Oddish to get immediately killed off if you really need that challenge.
How do you know its only Brock battle? Tell us... have u played the game entirely?

I’m excited for these games to release and I don’t think wild battles are necessary because throwing a berry to catch a Pokémon in this game is the equivalent to weakening it in a core game and I loveeeee seeing Pokémon in the over world and having them follow you again ... P.S. imagine Lavender town music again haha
As someone who hasn't enjoyed a Pokemon game since Gold/Sliver - I'm extremely hyped about this. It's what I always wanted in a Pokemon game growing up. ("Why can't Pokemon look like 64 games like Zelda and DK and Mario64?") As an adult, I can always appreciate the older games whether they are 16bit, 64bit etc but this is something I always wanted as a kid and am excited to try out! I did buy X and Y, but it just wasn't the same. I enjoyed them, don't get me wrong. It was just like a completely different franchise than it was in the late 90's early 2000's. Anyone in their late 20s and early 30s gets it :)
I don't understand why you take out Wild pokemon battles 🤷🏼♀️ keep the same catching style to bring in the Pokémon Go fans but no need to take away battles because it just makes catching Pokemon soooooooo boring looking

I think it's aimed more for multiplayer. The super effective thing is just so by the time you finish the gyms you have a balanced team.
my question for Let's Go is what if you need to grind your Pokemon before you fight the a gym or something? Do you have to catch lots of junk Pokemon for XP? Because that just seems a waste

Munchiemox Yes. But GameFreak on the bright side a system for it. You can transfer the Pokémon to receive candy to increase stats. Like a weirder version of EV training
Except at no point does it answer my question so rewatching the video would be pointless.
Not convinced candies are a good substitute for good old fashioned grinding
Munchiemox The classic EV training kinda includes you find wild Pokémon and killing it to gain EV. You’re find Pokémon here to catch and gaining (I think) 1 stat increase which will be a grind. I do agree that it won’t feel as rewarding

I like it! I won't get it on release date, but I wouldn't mind getting this for Christmas. Seems like a fun, chill Pokémon spin-off game to play when you want to de-stress. The game looks sharp, and it scratches a Pokémon itch as we wait for the next main line game in 2019.
Why is everyone hating on this, aren’t we still getting a main line pokémon rpg on the switch!?!? This is a chill pokémon game for people who want to play pokémon with someone or themselves in a easy and simple setting.
Also I think pokémon never remade the third version of games because either they want to make it into a let’s go series games or to remake it in HD for consoles.
While it is mainly for Go Players, people still find this lacking even for the intended crowd. Battling wild pokemon is replaced by the Go catching system, unable to fight Brock without a grass or water type despite Pikachu and probably Eevee learning a SE move, the typical rival complaint.
So what just because it’s a spinoff people can’t criticize for being a watered down Pokémon game

It's so close to what I wanted Pokemon to be when I was playing it as a child, you can SEE the wild Pokemon and the 3d graphics are beautiful! If you could battle wild Pokemon and it would bee perfect.

McSquiddleton I love how people are acting like Pokemon games have ever been actually challenging. How the lack of random encounters makes such a huge difference....
Flaming bubble tea it was never challenging, even in the beginning. As a newcomer to the franchise, playing SM first, I played Blue and found it incredible easy. The most “challenging” part was a lack of direction which was more annoying than hard.

Less time wasted.
You don't even need to catch a pokemon more than once in mainline. You just catch and breed with a ditto and keep hatching eggs.
The only questionable thing is legendaries, cuz those were actually challenging.
So a pokemon literally splits into two identical copies when you throw two pokeballs at it huh? Not sure how to explain this ingame, BUT!
I foresee a potential legendary breeding technique!

This game is literally just a money grab as well as a "test" for the real gen 8 game coming out. This game, for nintendo and gamefreak, will gauge how players receive the new changes so they can implement things in properly for the gen 8 game for the switch.

And it isn’t, the only thing that relates to Pokémon go in this game are the wild encounters and the candy you get from giving Pokémon to the professor, literally everything else is a normal Pokémon game
and that's one of the biggest problems since the CP is in this game and you can't train using wild pokemon like the old games...

How is CP a problem? The game has all the regular stats. And you train by catching wild pokemon, turning them into stat candies and powering up your party.
There should be a STAB XP Bonus if the Pkmn you've catched is identical to the one in the party
All u people talking about "Oh stop complaining about not being able to battle wild pokemon. This way looks sooo much fun" are going to be the same people weeks after the game comes out saying that its gotten boring and stale. This way of catching pokemon will get old VERY fast especially if their forcing u to catch stuff in order to train ur party. I think I'll be passing on these games. Just give me my main series game already.

my only issue with the new catching mechanics is-- how do you level up your pokemon if you dont feel like catching the same pokemon you already have to gain exp? (aside from battling other trainers). say there are no trainers around and you just wanna farm for exp. how do you gain exp from wild pokemon encounters?
I’m sorry but that whole 2 on 1 thing just seems a lil bit too unfair. Good thing it’s optional and good multiplayer incorporation. It’s just in my opinion looking at it from a world perspective

I think it's fine, kind of like a "my first Pokemon" game. Not the main series so I'm good. Going to be great to get my son into the games now that he likes Pokemon. It's good. Still waiting for Pokemon Snap 2 though
if they really wanted the "next" pokemon experience, then they should've implemented a battle system similar to that of pokentourn. Basically, you actually fight and dodge as the pokemon instead of just choosing its moves and rooting for it on the sidelines

You can see 11:48 for reference. It means it'll be like Pokemon Go style which all you can do is throw Pokeballs at wild pokemons instead of actually battling them to lower their health like you do in normal game series.

oh thats stupid... i thought they only showed this as example and you can also fight them... so or so i dont like pokemon games... i want them to be more realistic and open world, without fight phase and so on... like witcher 3 for instance would be awesome! but no... this time they have a 3D cam and you can also ride your pokemon... its getting slowly better... but very slowly...

I am literally crying, I'm 26 yrs old and Ive been playing pokemon since Yellow Version came out on Gameboy color. Just watching this gameplay is like bring back so many fun memories of playing but in a better Concept & 3D artwork effect. ❤😍 i can not wait for this game to come out, I need a Switch! Lol

Like any Pokemon game stting in the market in the last years.
Everyone is overreacting about there being no wild Pokémon battles, did anyone even like battling wild Pokémon? Like wild battles were just something you would either skip, finish really quickly, or break your 3ds over because you killed the rare Pokémon you want. Now you can see the Pokémon, go to it, and just catch it. People have been crying for gamefreak to do something new with Pokémon and as soon as they do that people complain about it being new.
I liked battling them first because at least you didn't go through Poke Balls so fast. And even if it wasn't a Pokemon you wanted/needed, you'd get EXP so it wasn't a total waste. Weakening Pokemon before you try to catch them is one of the basics. Ash got made fun of at the beginning of the series for trying to catch a Pokemon without weakening it first so it's just odd to not even make battling the Pokemon first an option.
What does weakening the Pokémon really bring into the game? Throwing a berry accomplishes the same task. It’s like using False Swipe before spamming your Ultra Balls. Heck, even just throwing a Pokeball is more involved than a normal press of a Quick Ball.
JYDeAlberto not really. What does it really accomplish? An extra press of a move is the reason people play these games? We play to battle, which is, as in the traditional games, here.
McSquiddleton pokemon has always been about the strategy u use to defeat or weaken a pokemon before capturing it
what kind of attacks u use and of what type. It has never been about just throwing a ball at a monster endenssly untill it enters it.
JYDeAlberto it depends which Pokémon. Anyways, using a special berry is just as engaging as using a certain move. Also, you don’t have to worry about knocking it out. Finally, we will most likely still have our boss Pokémon fights (e.g. Mewtwo) so why complain so early?

They literally took the one mechanic that people HATED from the original games(Safari Zone), and made an entire game out of it. Yet people will still buy it because its "Game Freak" . Show passion with your money people. Force them to put it back to the way it was.

I think I'd honestly have the Gen 1 catch style - where pokeballs thrown either hit or just miss outright - over incorporating Pokemon Go's system. It's like the battle system for FF13 - clearly someone put thought into it, but doesn't mean it's more fun.

So essentially when you want to level your pokemon, you've got to spend money. You have to catch them to level, and you have to buy Pokeballs to catch them, so... This feels so disconnected. Maybe it's just me, but, I don't get any feeling of satisfaction from just randomly throwing a ball at Pokemon... What do we even have Pokemon for in this game?

But its not since we are not playing as Red and our Rival is not Green/Blue. This is the perfect time to update Kanto with additional pokemon added to the Gen 1 evolution lines, pokemon that have existed for almost as long as the Gen 1's have in the case of the ones introduced in Gen 2
Who would complain about a Golbat being able to evolve into Crobat?
TheMGSlow no one, but at the same time, that’s not what the game is trying to accomplish. It is trying to relive Gen 1, so it wants only that.
You can still relive Gen 1 and bring in the new additions. HGSS did the same thing with Gen 2 but added the new additions to the Pokedex.
Looks like a mix of Pokemon Yellow, Pokemon Go, and for once in the pokemon series a beautiful 3D open world. I like that pokemon are actually out in the open here and not just RNG battle encounters although Gyarados casually "talking" to Moltres at 36:53 seems out of place to me.

They could make legendaries work like raid battles in GO. First you have to battle the pokemon like a powered up boss/totem battle and if you win you'll get a chance to catch it.
