The water isn't really "high" over the road but it's flowing so fast and pushing on the sides of your tires it's like a very high crosswind on the side of your car PLUS your tires are losing grip on the road surface. I know this bc I once foolishly crossed a road with less water on it and I could feel all those things. Halfway across I became aware of the potential for dying.
Yeah. One time I entered some water like that. It was half way up my tires when I entered. But by the time I got halfway across, the water was up to my headlights and pushing against the side of my car. The land was on my left side and the Gulf of Mexico was on my right. There was no barrier. It was THE GULF OF MEXICO right up to my car and it looked like my car was in the ocean. Then water covered the tailpipe and caused the engine to die . . .
One washed off the side of 59 in Shepard ol boy had to climb out the window and wait on his roof for rescue he got a little to close to the side of the road his front passenger side tire slipped off and the rest of the truck fell off behind it only thing that saved him was the water jack knifed his truck and trailer in the wood line so he didn't just float away
I used to live by a wash in the desert. Do yourself a favor, the bill for the last person who was carried down the wash was approximately $8,000, not including the damage to the car. And, she was extremely lucky she and her dog made it at all. Fire trucks, two ladder trucks, a boat rescue team trying to shoot rope cannons across the wash…it was insane! Don’t go there.
I've been through much worse. Look up flood of 2008 in Cedar Rapids, IA the house I lived in is no longer there. I lost everything I owned. So I moved to Louisiana and two weeks there a hurricane hit us...talk about rubbing salt on a wound.

Oh, so much drama. Way too much theatrics!!! You’d think no one in our part Texas has never seen rain water wash over a road. And for the driver of the big black Mercedes…, “Stupid is as stupid does”.
I'm sending up prayers for the people of Poke County and all around this world 🌎 That you sheld and protect us all in the mighty name of Jesus Christ your Son I Pray for Mercy your will to be done in Our lives AMEN Only you have the power to change anything and I thank you in advance AMEN AMEN and AMEN 🙏 🙌
🤔 Why is everything always normal in my neighborhood? I'm never moving (southeast Houston Park place) Throughout all the major storms including 100 yr storms my home has never flooded. If I ever decide to sell they better be prepared to pay top $$$$. 😑
Should I say the thing that only people who have lived here their entire lives are thinking?? Probably not. But I will say that if you or anyone you know is ever considering moving to the Houston area, you REALLY need to speak with a legit local before you commit to a specific side of town. That’s all I’m sayin. 😶

Continued prayers 🙏 for safety of the Polk County people.
Father, I ask you please help these waters to subside.. In Jesus name, I pray.. Amen!!!
God speed, I hope everyone is safe tonight 😢🙏❤

❤Thank you for sharing as I was thinking the semi could make it. Didn't realize that not that high water could push you off.

Wow, thank you for sharing. It's easy to underestimate water, but we never should! So glad you made it safe
Be safe people please
The tractor trailer trucks would make it through that fine unless the pavement is compromised.
Saw one down on a video earlier.

How is that people used to survive when there were no telephones and electricity were they just tougher than us
Second amendment.
And apparently wiser than we are now too judging by the reply above.
People had to rely on their own ingenuity and imagination. People today just go to their phones or 911.

Nothing special. It's like that every time it rains hard. No big deal except for news news likes it

Can you say anything more obvious?
This area is called "The Piney Woods" area of Texas. It is a very hilly area.
No this outside Houston area - Hill Country further North west
No this is outside of Houston - Hill Country North west of Houston between Austin and San Antonio
