Best depiction of a break up (literarily with the diamonds from her eyes) First, your ex rescues you (with a blow up pool) and you get back together. Next a hot rebound saves you (with teamwork from strangers). Next, not so great as you explode on the sidewalk (self explanatory). Next, you reflect on the relationship and cry and loose a but of your soul (diamonds from your eyes) Finally you literally land on your own feet, stronger for the journey but also weaker from the loss (diamonds from her eyes) Bravo everyone involved and thanks for your art.
Bella Rose Sad but true. This song got almost no airplay, so is unknown to all but a few Fitz & the Tantrums fans. This video should have several million views.
I've been listening to them since they started(way before The Walker was released). Love these guys and definitely agree that they don't get the attention they should be. They put on great performances
The saddest and truest part of this video is when she finally lands on her feet and looks up at him while he's looking down at her and they both officially/finally realize that there is no getting back together.
Ahhhhh I love this. When you get dumped, first you imagine that the one you still love will have a change of heart, and catch you before reality collides. Then as you start to get better you hope, wish that friends, family, strangers, ANYONE will save you. Finally you understand that you have to catch yourself, and realize you're fully capable of it. Great song and video. :D
Yeah I agree with this completely! I find this video to be heartbreaking but yet encourages you continue without this person. Like you said you can catch yourself!
everyone is talking about the physics of the video and I'm just here realizing it's about a woman's emotional state during a break up and the first fall when her bf caught her using a swimming pool is just her wishful thinking that they could be together again but it won't. then the second fall where a guy called for help to catch the girl symbolizes the girl trying to fill in the void in her heart by seeing other guy but that didn't help either to ease her pain. by the end of the video, it shows that she can move on from such devastating experience by trying to help her own self and standing on her own.
I never fully understood this video until I felt my first real heartbreak. You have to get through the fall on your own, he can’t save you, and neither can a new person, you have to make it through that fall alone
so it's like, a metaphor saying that when you breakup with someone you really love, it's the equivalent of falling off an enormous building. as you're "falling", you're wishing all of these people will come and save you, but in reality you'll end up saving yourself because everyone "lands on their feet" after a breakup
This video did the song justice. Great metaphor for breaking up and getting back together. It shows that after a while, your lover won't take you back. She didn't land on her back, and instead on her feet so that she can go off and find "something better for the next time" as the song put so nicely.
Words cannot describe how incredibly deep this is. She landed on her feet and had total self realization...this speaks for male andn female. Love yourself, land on your feet, dont expect someone to "fix" you. It starts with you. We attract what we put out ;)
She falls & hopes he catches her(gets back together with her). -She hopes strangers will catch her(this could mean casual relationships {rebound} or just depending on others to save her. -She thinks/fears the fall will shatter her (she'll lose herself{substance abuse or suicide}) But the video gives her the option to catch herself. (Why she fell in slowly to the ground & finally landed on her feet.) This song helped me, honestly. You think you're surrounded by all of these things that you love, but they don't necessarily love/benefit you. And in the long run we're hurting ourselves trying to drag it out an unequal/unloving/abusive relationship 💗
That is exactly what it feels like when you're told "I don't think I love you anymore" :( He told me that June 29th after 8 years together. My whole entire world is shattered.
I like how there's highlights on her crying. It's important to give yourself time to grieve and feel sad about a breakup, but at the same time it's also important to "land on your own two feet" and make sure you're the one who saves yourself. Such a good video
Just finally got out of a toxic relationship after having to convince myself like 5 times that it was, and I decided to listen to this song. I’ve never felt this good in a long, long time ❤️
This video did something to me. It's so true. I have gone through all of those stages. I am just happy that I seem to be on the last stage. Landing on my feet not depending on others to save me. Totally got the feels from this video
This is the song that got me into Fitz. My girlfriend left me while I was out to sea in 2013. When I pulled into port and got cell signal I always opened up iTunes when I got in cell range. I pulled this album up and randomly sampled this song. I've been sold on Fitz and the Tantrums for the last almost 10 years!
Yep, this music video is talking to me. No matter how great I thought the relationship was, I have to land on my own two feet, and "find something better for the next time." I know I was better than enough, and hopefully I will be strong enough to move on from his stupidity.
My interpretation of the song and video: When coping with the rejection of a lost love the common two mistakes people make is: 1) reach out to the person who rejects you for comfort by saying "I can be better for you", 2) reach out to others to around you for help making the rejecting person cover up their true feelings of love lost. The song/video is saying take your lumps of fools gold, you will find gold everywhere in this world if you keep digging. But most important message from the song/video is in the end only you can recover from rejection and reaching out for other's help is both demeaning and delusion.
I listened (and sung along) to this every day on my morning bike ride for years. It literally helped me climb hills. And then I switched subscriptions, my playlists were built anew from the ground up, and the soundtrack to my daily commute changed. Then today, years later, I hear a few notes of this as a car passes and it was like running into a close friend you hadn't heard from in years. A close friend who's coming bike riding with me again starting tomorrow! And to you, my friend, you are stronger than you think you are,
This has always been one of my favorite songs from the album. I'm surprised you guys waited over a full year after it was released to make this your newest single. This and Keepin' Our Eyes Out should have been singles last year. But I guess all good things come to those who wait and this was awesome. Can't wait to see you guys again next month in Chicago.
This song and the entire band and everything they’ve put out has been A+. I still understand how they aren’t bigger than they are. Everyone of of their songs could be on the radio.
Love it. Doesn't hit you instantly, will take people to appreciate the song. But when it catches fire, it won't leave you. Heard this 4 times already. Love it. Love the video.
Agreed! Great song and grows on you more and more. Has a catchy beat but most importantly the course actually has a meaning and some thought was put into it. Can always appreciate true music.
This song is so beautiful. Great meaning behind it. No matter how much you want someone to save you, you have to realize your the only one who can save yourself.
Just went through a really bad breakup this week. 7 years and an engagement ring... gone. I knew the song really captured how I felt, but the video is just beautifully heartbreaking.
Hey man, hopefully you understood the end of this video the same as I did and see that in the end you will be able to land on your feet and progress on your own. I know that will happen to you.
Oh I get it, it's saying after a break up you can either drown in self sorrow, literally fall apart, get tossed back into another relationship, or pick yourself back up and get over it knowing that this kinda stuff just happens
I don't know if you guys (Fitz and the tantrums) are going to see this, but you do make good music, Wich is rare those days. Keep up with the good work! You're awesome!
I lfind it motivational and empowering. Every time I listen to this song it makes me feel like I can get through anything I'm dealing with. The music, the lyrics it all gets to my soul. I love it!
While the first 20 seconds of Moneygrabber might be the best opening of any song ever, this is my favorite Fitz song.....and this is one of the best concept videos I've ever seen (and I go back to early 1980's MTV when bands were spending a million bucks on each video). It's relatively simple, but really fits (sorry) the song perfectly, and makes you listen to the lyrics more closely.
i want him to save me because i love him but i know that lie is not real. i dont expect someone new to save me because it would just be cruel. i could just keep falling into dispair and brake when i hit bottom but i know that is not me. so i will just fall look up and land on my own because i have to keep movkng foward.
How come I am just now finding out about this band. Amazing lyrics! Powerful voice! Stunning videos. I can't get off of you tube and live my life....I just keep watching your videos and enjoying this unique and creative band.
Great song, though I agree the live chemistry of Noelle & Fitz is much more powerful. I've been a fan since the early days of small unknown clubs, and while no album will probably ever be as special as "Pickin up the Pieces" for me, I'm glad this album is bringing you the fame and recognition of your talents that you deserve.
My ex showed me this song when we were together. She really liked it. Tonight for some reason I wanted to remember a song she liked, we've been apart for a long time and there's many songs I link to her but I wanted one she liked herself so I could enjoy something she did too, and came here... it's ghastly to listen to it now
To me this music video represents breaking someone's heart and they have three options, you rescue them, someone else rescues them, or they land on their feet and learn to survive on their own..
This video and song makes me so emotional. I have been married 15 years, but i still still have pain and loss from a break up in 99. Maybe that is why.
Is there a fitz and the tantrums song that isn't good. Like seriously this song is soooo good, I'm in the only one who cried the first time watching this
I cannot say how underrated FATT is. Never really heard about them until i saw them perform as the opening act for Bruno Mars on his Moonshine Jungle tour. I was totally blown away by their live performance and ended up enjoying them maybe even more than Bruno. Have been a fan ever since
this song is criminally underrated
@Ellie Edwards Was this part of an argument that got deleted??? 😂
@Joe I’m thinking the same thing lol

Peyton G I totally agree, I didn't see it in that light, but now listening to the song has so much more meaning

This band doesn't get enough credit that they deserve
Bella Rose Sad but true. This song got almost no airplay, so is unknown to all but a few Fitz & the Tantrums fans. This video should have several million views.
Agreed
They definitely don't
Yeah they made so many popular songs and I can bet you most people that heard their hits don't even know who they are
@@JeffArchuleta good news. It has several million views
My cousin Zak directed this video and I think he did a phenomenal job! This is probably my most favorite video ever!! Love you Zak! 😘😍
Tell him it's a strange video but it's still great
WOW, he did overly absolutely AMAZING!!!!
My god! My god! That’s all I can say❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Tell him it’s VERY clever
I listened to F&TT all day, and realized they don't get enough credit. They deserve it, their songs are incredible. Not only just The Walker.
Lynnette Thomas I cant agree anymore!!!

I've been listening to them since they started(way before The Walker was released). Love these guys and definitely agree that they don't get the attention they should be. They put on great performances
+Lynnette Thomas Amen!!
+Lynn T I love their songs too. I actually hate The Walker. Never understood why that was their top song, they have so many better ones in my opinion.
The saddest and truest part of this video is when she finally lands on her feet and looks up at him while he's looking down at her and they both officially/finally realize that there is no getting back together.

@Precision penaltyshot this can apply to both men and women :) it's always painful to go through a breakup no matter your gender!
Imagine correlating shitty man behavior as to why women want to leave them. stay single. Marriage is a waste of time & money anyway.
@Precision penaltyshot I don't care what statistic say, I was dumped by my boyfriend and feel exactly what the video depicts

She kept thinking he was going to save her. But she was strong enough to take "the fall" on her own. Awesome Song, Great Video. Masterful direction.

No matter how far or hard you fall you can always land on your feet, Great message!
Games&Greenz Yes! great song and video.

What type of powers does she have that she is able to survive all of those falls? Girl kept falling and was left unscratched.
Jennie Mc You must be if you couldn't tell I was just joking, right. :) Now let me enjoy my song.
Jesus it's just a music video. Don't dissect it, just enjoy it. :-)
It's a metaphor. She keeps expecting someone to pick her up when she falls, only to fall again. In the end she learns to pick herself up.
Special powers dorathy, special powers.
seriously, is THAT the line you draw when it comes to music videos?
She falls & hopes he catches her(gets back together with her).
-She hopes strangers will catch her(this could mean casual relationships {rebound} or just depending on others to save her.
-She thinks/fears the fall will shatter her (she'll lose herself{substance abuse or suicide})
But the video gives her the option to catch herself. (Why she fell in slowly to the ground & finally landed on her feet.)
This song helped me, honestly.

I'm am mesmerized by this vid! It's so true to how you feel when you "fall" for someone.
This song is helping me out big time, yes I'm a man but fuck it I am totally in her shoes.
You're a man; men are people; people have feelings, so it's completely understandable.
I liked your comment. I,no exaggeration, never like comments. That's how much I'm with you brother.
I'm a female and I believe that men and women shouldn't be treated as if they are a seperate and diff species We are both human.
That is exactly what it feels like when you're told "I don't think I love you anymore" :(
He told me that June 29th after 8 years together. My whole entire world is shattered.
Been there. It sucks... Hope you have gone thru the phases of grieving the relationship, and are starting to come out strong on the other side.
This is probably one of the best Fitz and the Tantrums songs

Give up on any person who just doesn't love you. You can move on - give it time.
Amazing video, everything on it, concept, development, production, performances, edition, and of course THE MUSIC (in uppercase). I just love it!
Jeez, this is so painfully accurate. Really enhances the song.
My interpretation of the song and video:
