hey guys , can plaster board be attached directly after the intello layer or is a extra batten required for a cavity between the plasta board and intello plus membrane ?
Hi Jaymie. The batten may be omitted and a non foil backed plasterboard installed directly against INTELLO PLUS. This will make the inclusion of services more difficult though and require more grommets, tapes and seals for any services which may penetrate the membrane. Excluding the batten will also leave the airtightness membrane more prone to damage when the plasterboard is applied and also over the lifetime of building, were the plasterboard ever compromised or damaged. The batten will also serve as an additional supporting layer for the INTELLO PLUS when/if a blower door test is conducted before the plasterboard is fitted. Including a batten between the air tightness layer (e.g. INTELLO PLUS) and the plasterboard is generally regarded in industry as a best practice approach, no matter what system is used. Hope this is helpful. Niall
