Honestly I barely listened to music like this (although I appreciated it) until I listened to this song as my introduction to the band yesterday, and I was instantly hooked. Shivers, emotions, everything. I think this band is going to completely change my taste in music and I am HERE for it. (I prefer the second single tho cos holy moly)
With sleep token you need to learn not to expect breakdowns all the time. You have to approach it like a box of chocolates. While they can be heavy, don’t expect breakdowns and bleghs in every song like I know you like to. It dampens the experience and it sets an unrealistic value

To the second group of people, I give you my condolences, because it is likely that in our lifetimes we will not have another opportunity to witness a band that is this special. And I would say the very same thing a week ago. These 2 singles are no surprise to me at all. Worship.
the key to getting into sleep token is to approach them from the opposite mindset - instead of seeing them as a metal band with soul vocals, look at them as an art-pop duo with the occasional massive breakdown. by doing that, I learned to appreciate their songwriting a lot more, their softer songs became personal favourites - and it made the breakdowns hit even harder, because you don’t always expect them. the next track, the summoning, is one of their heaviest (and weirdest) tracks yet, it absolutely slaps and you’ll love it - just know they’re closer in sound to phoebe bridgers than lorna shore; that might not do it for metal-only listeners, but it’s 2023 if we only listen to one genre we’re not evolving the capabilities of that genre.
to each their own for sure! but I will say sleep token is one of the best bands out there right now. his voice. the drumming. the music in general. especially the genre blending. kinda like spiritbox you never know what you’re gonna get from them. it’s always surprising and exciting.

Vessel's voice is next level. just learning about them and I'm blown away be how his accent and feeling like he's classically trained or at least a strong understanding of seamless changing the shape of the sound production in his head. Add the vibrato along with the bands ability. Very eerie indeed.

I’m not sure which other songs you’ve heard by them since I could only find reactions to these two newest songs, but if you want heavier, go check out some of their older songs like Gods, Jaws, High Water, The Offering, or Higher. They may be more in line with what you like.
They both are. The Summoning is just a longer more complex endeavor. But it’s important to have more straightforward tracks like this. Because ones like the summoning would lose their appeal if they tried to replicate that for every track on the album. If everything is epic, then nothing is epic kind of thing. But even so, they are both incredibly well crafted and just straight QUALITY tracks

To be honest "Sleep Token" is not my cup of tea. Basically on the songs and their music alone i don´t get the it-factor from "Sleep Token". If you add the visuals of the band, their videos and also their mystical theatratical performance live this is the best version of "Sleep Token" you can get - which i might find interesting, but either way also not my cup of tea. If there is one thing for me when i am going to a concert i be like it is some kind of respect to be a little bit prepared for the bands you are about to experience live. And that happened with "Sleep Token" when i have seen and experienced them live this thursday as opening act for Architects.

This song is just a vibe, whereas their other song just punches you in the face and kisses your neck at the same time.
