Thanks for all you and your team do, Prof. I wasn't in love with the murder mystery theme of MKM and am also not big on the old West meets fantasy theme of OTJ. But, as you say, the cards, not the flavor, are what matter.

Hey, so, like, just pointing out, you can plot valki with both Kellan joins up, and the new Jace, and cast tibalt on the next turn in pioneer.
Just pointing that out.
Funnily enough with both cards the very fastest you can do that is turn 4 with kellan. With jace it's turn 5 since you need to wait a turn for plot.

By and large the fewer extra turn effects I see the happier I am
Gitrog looks fantastic.
Magebane Lizard has a huge booty.
Outcast Trailblazer is awesome for blink decks.
Oltec Mattwrweaver is nuts for artifact decks.
The Oltec Matterweaver is much less impressive than you think, though, since it doesn't trigger off of the best cards in artifact decks: noncreature spells. There is a reason why Sai and Digsite Engineer are strong.

Insatiable avarice is so good 3 mana draw 3 plus a late game tutor if you need it. Probably only mono black though.
The new satoru is easily the best card from the set in the 99 and im surprised not many people seem to realize it. Ninjas, reanimation, free morph/manifest cards, blink, cheerios, flip sagas, cascade, etc etc all give you cards with new satoru. New Jodah, kadena, yuriko, mirko, esika, captain n’dgathrod, neon satoru, grixis marchesa, new admiral brass, don andress, aminatou, and many more commanders trigger off of satoru. The card advantage he gives you essentially lets you churn through your deck and never be low on cards in hand.
Even though I'm not a commander i religiously watch your videos for the humor and to see which cards you consider interesting or powerful. Thanks prof!

Many people dont do and I think it is the right choice. Maybe the Game has to crash and will be good then again. Or everything is Universes Beyond at some point, cause that the only thing they do good at the moment. Make the ip of other pople into money.

Kambal is very good with Alliance of Arms and the hunted creatures. Also works well with the blink effects you'd be likely running to blink your token makers for that second ability. I think he's less milquetoast as a commander than he appears at first glance.
The joins up cycle are all going straight into my Jodah legends deck. So excited for them!

Will say, I think Insatiable Avarice goes way harder than is given credit in this video. 3 mana draw three that if I have 2 extra mana for I can also cram a tutor in there if I really need it.
Ooh, I think Key to the Vault might fit in my Obyra faeries deck! The whole deck is basically "draw stuff + cast cheap faeries + clone them all" all of which fit pretty well with it. Literally every single creature in the deck has flying except one (Roaming Throne), so I can usually connect every combat.
Tiny bones the pickpocket in mothman to capitalize on the mills, railway brawler in ziatora for crazy damage, caustic bronco in isshin, duelist of the mind for raffine, honest rustine in henzie and ziatora, and more. This is a bit power crept but honestly im just excited to see these cards do stupid stuff!

Return The Favour is my fave spree card. Giving mono-red more varied stack interaction is awesome
13:01 just a heads up, you can only *plot* as a sorcery, so if you plot an opponent’s counterspell then they can still cast it at instant speed. However, they will only be able to cast it on a *later* turn, so it will still delay the counter for at least one turn.

I think a lot of the new plot cards for blue are just going to be really useful for building up to big turns and I like all the new cards that care about casting two spells a turn
Kamiz, Obscura Oculus is a perfect saboteur commander who is so underrated in my opinion, but every blue card you showed off is perfect for her! she gives creatures unblockable and double strike, making blue combat damage triggers so, so good

Archmage's newt is gonna be really good in my The Master, Transcendant deck;
- It cares about self-mill
- It has a lower base p/t than 3/3 so it'll get buffed if pulled out
- It has a low cmc
- It can be mounted by any creature cheated out by The Master since he turns them into 3/3s

Final Showdown is my number 1 pick. It's basically white cyclonic rift. It's cheaper than Rout and more destructive than Settle the Wreckage, and instant speed gives it an edge over other board wipes, and the other two options being actually useful on their own makes this card nuts imo, but especially for voltron strats, or decks where the commander is very important. Can tutor it with Sunforger!
My favorite new card is Tinybones Joins up, the ammount of value you get from a 1 mana enchantment is insane. Also really like the Vraska and Gitrog, golgari got some serious love this set.

I think the black one that entombs and reanimates could work on comander being able to pay 5 to pull the best 4 drop out of your deck is quite fun
If Spree works like kicker, the red/white instant one are also fetchable and spreeable with Sunforger which is pretty huge. If it works like that, it'd also be pretty good for my Ryan Sinclair deck, always triggering the lower power mode, while then also being able to add mana to get some cooler thing (the extra combat one esp would be amazing)

Not too many cards in Thunder Junction I'm particularly interested in, but Taii Wakeem, Perfect Shot and Ertha Jo, Frontier Mentor definitely have a place in my Wayta, Trainer Prodigee self-fight/damage redirection deck.
Note: Aven interrupter also stops cascade and discover!

The Spree cards sound really interesting! I have a few other cards i think i will try in my commander decks. "Bandit's Haul" looks like it is a mana rock worth testing. A Mana rock with repeatable carddraw sounds nice. "Double Down" for my etrata deadly fugitive assasin deck, and i want to test "Bonny Pall" in my landfall deck, i dont think he will be better then aesi but maybee in the 99.
I was gonna buy a box to support my lgs but you're right these singles are the best thing, tcgplayer it is.
The way prof is describing Kambal, it sounds like he would make a decent commander. Your opponent isn't always gonna have a way to give you a measly 1/1 token before casting their dockside extortionist. They have to either abstain from casting it, or bite the bullet and give you all those treasures for your next turn.
Good luck finding the new set distributors and game stores because of the failure of a certain manor set are very hesitant on buying the new thunder junction set
The new Satoru, the Infiltrator card would be a nice 99 card because its effect works well with ninjustu cards since you're not casting a spell with the ability and it'll give you a lot of card draws.

Prof showing off is the classic "What the 24th century thought the 20th century was like while causally time traveling because engineering screwed up or something" costume.
Forsaken Miner is my pick for best 99 card of the set. Its a new gravecrawler. Better in some ways; goes off at instant speed and doesn't require tribal synergies but is a relevant type in Rogue.
There a good number of sacrifice outlets for Forsaken Miner that target which starts a loop on their own, and there are a ton of 3-4 card combinations (of cards that are just generically good anyways) that just win on the spot.
We even got a decent tutor/enabler for those decks in Lively Dirge; entomb your Forsaken Miner and reanimate your combo pieces for 5 mana? Yes please.

Insatiable avarice is really good too if you can afford to pay triple black. It's trash if you're just getting the first mode, but 3 cards for 3 mana is an incredible rate and going all in seems good too.

It costs the same as grim tutor and if you have the extra mana is also a sign in blood with a extra card either or the options you can use make it better to me if you want a tutor

Marchesa, dealer of death seems pretty busted. Anytime you commit a crime look at the top two cards of your library and put on into your hand and the other into your gy. Could get pretty nasty with her especially late game when mana is abundant.
I always like to buy one box at the beginning of new set and then buy singles. I know I want to make a commander deck out of Roxanne, Starfall Savant.
I would definitely think you would look best in old Western wears Professor.
The new Gisa seems a bit clunky for a commander, but I'm interested in using her as a zombie token generator in zombie decks like Wilhelt, or especially Scarab God
Return the Favor is an insanely good protection spell for red. At worst, you bolt bend their removal and fork it. At best, you can interact with a powerful activated/triggered ability. At my pre-release tonight, I redirected a Terror of the Peaks trigger for lethal!
