I ride a 2007 ST1300 ..bought last year with 8700 miles...just hit 18000 miles..I love to ride my ST. Adjustable windshield is my favorite detail.
If you take off the screen and release the screen mounting plates you can reposition them 50mm higher so when the screen is refitted it raisers it height by the 50mm. Did this on mine as I replaced the stock screen with a bike-quip flip screen and when fully raised I was looking through the curved section. Raising by 50mm took the curved section above my line of sight. If it’s Not raining and on the motorway I have the screen all the way up with the visor part open. Nice breeze, no noise and nothing hits your face/eyes.
I own a 2011 ST1300. Absolutely love it. Best motorcycle I've ever owned. Mine is also silver. The best colour 🙂

Awesome, it's just getting broke in. Bought mine out of the box, 2012. Over 65K haven't changed anything other than tires, fluids and air filter. Runs as good and strong as the first day, no lie. If you ride it to Florida you might not sell it lol.
I have a 2005. Fast, quiet, great wind / weather protection, handles well, great fuel economy (19km/L), large tank (29L). Why did Honda stop making them?? :(
Unfortunately Honda found that ppl in the market appreciated more sporty sport touring bikes than this design and some where not willing to pay 15k+ if it was not a cruiser type bike or adventure bike. So they decided to put a version of this engine in CTX 1300 or the adventurer touring X version . There are talks that they are bring back v4s in 2023
I think Honda overpriced these bikes and sales dropped off. Then they made the mistake of re-designing them with the hopes that would boost sales. But the price was still high and the new bike, while it looked newer, just couldn't match the legend. That mistake sealed the bikes fate. Now we really have nothing from Honda. The Gold Wing costs as much as a Honda Accord. I expect that will be the next to go if Honda doesn't do something about runaway prices.
Greetings, Mr. Kaplan. Thank you for doing this piece. I have been a big fan of this bike ever since I saw one in 2011 when I discovered it. That V4 is an outstanding engine. The whole bike is so refined and well put together given the technology of that period. Unfortunately these have historically been very pricey compared to the competition and I couldn't afford one. Also, it's history has been a bit checkered, undeservedly so in my opinion. I prefer the look of the ST over the FJR and the Concours 1400. Today I ride a '17 Triumph Trophy SE and I love that bike. But if I ever came across one of these in this kind of shape and at the right price I would love to add it to the stable. Nice way start to 2021, Sir!
If I was hitting the highway this would be my pick.adjustable fairing windshield & seat,performance & Honda reliability right there.I might have a flashier paint & some chrome but this makes sense.love the aero of the fairing.

My dad just turned 73 and just gave me this same exact year and colour ST1300 only 25k miles. He bought a 2013 VFR 1200 cause he wanted something slightly lighter. Haha. I ride and track a ZX9 and can say that even though compared to what I’m used to, the power doesn’t blow me away but it is extremely impressive and I love it already. I can appreciate why this bike has the following of people and reviews it has earned.
Told him to take it easy on his replacement bike in the first 2 gears. Haha. Proud of him and extremely thankful to him.
I just picked up a 2005 (yesterday) and wow , I`m amazed at how quick it is . I`m coming off of a BMW R1150rt full tourer so I`m not surprised this is quicker but its sooo much quicker . I loved it the second I got on it .
Just aquired a 2007 Pan European. ... and I bloomin' love it. Done around 500 miles so far, it's just a dream.
Awesome beautiful ST1300, and very low miles for this year, very rare find, sadly Honda no longer makes this model, I really love my Goldwing to, all the very best.
They still make them for the police only. Look up on Honda Powersport.

I have an 05' with 26k on it. Amazing bike, one of the best bangs for the buck. Will pop a wheelie if you aren't careful, lol.

Here in the UK the ST1300 is called the pan European. I had one of these in the same silver colour. I only sold it when I stopped riding due to arthritis in my fingers. I would agree with everything you have said. I loved mine. It could be ridden all day without stress. A real mile muncher. Fantastic engine with plenty of low down torque. Very comfortable and practical. Heavy bike but that disappeared once moving. It was also very stable at any speed from walking pace right up to top speed and for a big bike the handling was superb. I miss it a lot.
Check the front head light. 😃 I just rode my 2007 st today. Getting close to 50 thousand on it. Been a great bike to date. For me it’s one of those bikes I’ll keep till something major happens.

I bought a Concurs 14 2020 and my next bike is going to be one of these ST Hondas.
I own a 2005 Pan European that's in very good condition.
Comfy, smooth, quiete(sounds like a food blender😅). Also has 500k range from a 29litre tank. Handles well and has a very good fairing, shaft drive and two panniers that take a helmet. 😁
I have one same color. Great review. Smart. Honest. You call it straight . I also have at 2014 triumph trophy that I’m riding everyday. The Honda wants to go 90. Only five gears. Just wants to. Triumph happy at 80
That's like a direct copy of my 1999 BMW R1100RT and put the tip over (engine and leg) protection of my 03 LT! Nice job Honda!, and then, threw in a V4! Insane bikes, both Beemers and that one! And yes, very comfortable. I'll take two! Maybe 3! xD Rock on bro! TCGB!

and forgot to mention that break down recovery companys use them here in england the AA and the RAC
NHS and private health companies also use them for rapid blood deliveries!
I have a 2005 with 48,000 bought it new! I know of a 04 with 232,000 miles still going ! I also have a GW but ride the ST 80% OF THE TIME.
I have a pristine 2007 ST1300 with right at 40k, it is my favorite bike ive ever owned, it is a dream to ride, it handles so well, the throttle response is just magnificent,,,and then it will stop on a dime,, its paid for and it will live with me for the rest of our lives. its super clean, it's not a Hayabusa, and thats a good thing, you can sit on it all day...its just AMAZING!!!!. not very many days it sits, I commute on it, I cruse the Texas hill country...and I have planed a ride to the tail of the dragon, smokey mountains and further east. Can't wait, anyway if your a sport bike guy looking for a bike to tour on, this is the one right here,.As of today Honda no longer makes this beauty but they are out and about and well maintained machines are selling between 5 to 10k, I paid a little over 6 for mine..i've rode the FJR and the concourse they are killer machines but the st is it. comfortable fast and just really good looking even though my st is 15 years old it stands proud amongst the late model machines... it gets its share of EWS AND AHS and a few offers here and there. A few dislikes are, the instrument cluster appears to have came from a civic sedan, with LCD letters and numbers that in bright light you cannot read, its a heavy bike and at 5,6 it took me a while to handle it well a stops and real slow speeds, but after realizing that it is so well balance and has a real low center of gravity I relaxed a little and just let the bike sit. up where it likes to be. those are the only things I can say other than if your looking for a bike for fuel consumption this is not for you, its large 8.5 gallon will get you down the road a bit but if your a throttle junky the V4 is very thirsty, and really thats fine with me. be safe and keep the rubber side down...

Just picked up one with 140k miles on it and still runs great. It is a 2007 without ABS.
Great Review! This video confirms the 2006 ST I want to buy. It ticks all the boxes. Not sure how it would be in stop and go traffic.
It’s a little top-heavy especially with the top tank full, and you definitely have to pay attention with rear wheel breaking in slow situations. However the bike is slim enough to filter nicely if your state allows that. But remember you’re dealing with an almost 800 pound motorcycle, there is a learning curve .
Once you know the bike it is one of the most agile fastest sleepers on the road, and capable of scaring more than a few race bikes…
I'm always umming and erring about my next bike, and my V-strom 650 is a hard machine to replace. But God, I love the sound of a V4. I mostly commute, but I've done a long distance tour before and plan on doing another one. I can only have one bike (and it's my only vehicle), so I'm curious how these do for regular commuting. Riding for 4 hours on my 650 beat the hell out of me.
I just bought my second st1300, and it is awesome.

I went gaga over a 2017 ST1300PA Police Spec I found In Manchester NH recently with 535 miles on the clock and purchased it sight unseen!! Outstanding motorcycle although a bit dated, but so is the salty dog that rides it🇺🇸
The Portland Police (aka the Real PoPo) use these among other bikes in their eclectic motorcycle fleet. Having been in a couple funeral processions they escorted, I can say the ST1300 and Concours 14 are capable of doing some shit that most people would erase themselves attempting on their R6. It's like watching a hippo run for the first time and realizing that the fat beast would sweep gold medals at the Olympics. It's no cheetah, but damn!
Hi! FYI I did some lookin and I think that is an aftermarket bar riser. HeliBar also made/makes a bar riser called the Tour performance for this bike. Hope that helps!

Four of us are riding one of these, all have the Helibar riser.
I found a cheapest ST selling for 7000usd (average used price in my country is around 1000 usd converted price). A 2003 with 121k mileage on it. ST is known for a bulletproof engine and I wonder if it can survive for another 80k before major engine top build. What maintenance on the engine should be done first before enjoying the full potential of the ST and should I be worry about the reported wobble? My highway speed with Yamaha Royal star is always above 160kmh and Im planning to do more with the ST. Fall in love with the looks of it and the police and firefighter here still using it and they still even use the cbx750.
I ride a st1300 2006 in black with only 23000 miles and the bike is a gem but after 30 minutes or so my rear end starts going numb so I'm looking at different seat, and hopefully that will help. Good video and thanks for your input on all your bikes. Awesome channel 👍
Try levelling out the seat as it has a forward incline. Had the same issue myself but levelling out sorted it along with the helibar risers.
I heard in other review the 2003 version of ST1300 also was notorious of their speed wobble at high speed, and some cops died as a result of that, since these bikes were used by the police, and because of those fatal accidents Honda decided to discontinue the series due to bad reputation, in spite they fixed the wobble from the 2004 models.
So the touring performance piece on top of the steering column is a aftermarket bar riser, but it's hard to find an st1300 without one. Honestly it's a necessary upgrade for taller riders
Helibar risers is what’s fitted. I have them on my pan. Raiser the bars about an 1”, back about 2” and levels the incline a touch. The stock position gave me back ache but the risers sorted that. 2 hours in the saddle with stock seat is do-able although I did modify the seat height adjuster so the seat sits level as opposed to inclined slightly forward.

@@zeezeerhydon7083 to raise the front of the seat unbolt the horizontal tube that the throat under the seat connects into and form two small triangular aluminium brackets and bolt them in place where the tube was located. Drill two holes at the upper part of the two triangular brackets and fit the horizontal tube there when you replace the seat you will find the two recesses moulded within the plastic frame of the seat now foul the metal tongues that secure the front wings of the seat so you need to cut away part of the plastic so the tongues can locate again. Providing you don’t lift the front of the seat too high the curve of the seat still matches the line of the tank. You can always remove the adaption and return it to normal if you want.

Honda also made a step through Silver Wing fsc 600 maxi scooter that demonstrates how even the st 1300 may be unnecessary for most riders. Incredible machine.

I originally had the ST100, many years ago and just loved it. I now have the ST1300 2005 A-4, just a dream to ride and I love this bike so much, best bike I have ever owned by far. Great on fuel, very comfortable to ride it is the Terminator of the road, just keeps going. Honda reliability mine now has 53k miles on her and she will just keep going. I will never part with her my baby by far.

I showed up with all the cash to buy a slightly used Honda, ST 1300 with lots of goodies on it. Sargent seat, tall windshield, trunk, electrical ports., fresh tires, 31K original owner..
I was sold before I got there. I told the owner that I would not be back for at least an hour and I headed off into farm country roads. 10 minutes out, I felt heat on my shins, I thought there was a water leak, leaking hot water from the radiator, or possibly an oil leak. It was engine heat. I pulled over to check for leaks.. when I realized on that 85° day that it was just normal engine heat, I turned around and headed back. When I pulled in the driveway of the Owner, he was working in the garage. He came walking out and said, that was a quick hour. I told him, how can you ride this thing with all that heat. He got a frown on his face and said, that’s why it’s for sale…
The early Yamaha, F,JR, the Kawasaki concourse, the Honda, ST 1300 pour out unbearable heat. I passed on that one. I was disappointed that that bike, and those other high horsepower sport touring machines put out so much heat, yet the factory can’t direct the heat away from the rider.. I have had for moto guzzi .. my latest one was the Norge 1200 which I had from 2007, till 2021. The cylinders are right there in front of your knees, the only time I ever felt in the heat was while stopped in traffic on our fight days. I had a Goldwing and a Honda pacific coast, which I can read it on for 24 years, no heat whatsoever from either of those machines, none. I could reach my hand down to the exhaust ports in the faring of the Pacific coast, and I could feel the heat coming out of those two vents in the faring, but none of that heat ever reached me, even on the 90+ degree days..
very disappointing that the ST 1300 is such an oven. It has such a great reputation for mileage and comfort and reliability..
this is a all purpose machine the english police . and the english army , paramedics . blood runners . convoy control . here in england theirs a good a sales pitch as any right their good bikes loved by many
UK police stopped using them though due to wobble issues at speed. Some believe it was due to the additional police kit that was fitted to them causing issues. Have had 100 mph out of mine, two up with luggage fully loaded and no wobble. Paramedics still use them though.

It could not meet the European emissions standards the VTR 1200 has also been dropped for the same reason
I can ride my ST1300 at 150 mph and no problem .....
This bike also has a high speed wobble. Thats why the police stopped using it
I think the police were the most likely to experience the weave, I believe due to the loading of radios and the other police accoutrement in bags and the top box. I personally have never experienced the problem, but also do enjoy a spirited ride at times (read: not Grandpa)

There is no high speed wobble that is not caused by either rider error or set-up. I've had my ST13 from new and covered over 200,000 miles on it, in all conditions, and it's a perfectly safe bike.

Yes top bike, but so is the BMW r1250 rt, and the FJR Yamaha .. The Yamaha is faster :) The Beemer is my choise , there is no God whoohooow !
BMWs nice bike, but the overhead on ST1300 is almost nothing..
Also 7.7 gallons of gas goes farther
Far more comfortable than the Yamaha and as for the Yamaha being faster I think that has to do rider skill... but I think an all day ride is more comfortable on the ST..
Specially if you do a few little things to it, like put a race took front end springs on, or the rear shock package. That and a custom seat and you’ve got one of the best bikes ever made.
The seat in the front springs Are probably be only weak points of the bike...
Who says this is the best sport tourer in the world? Very many people prefer the Yamaha FJR, and I can tell you if that ST impresses you performance-wise you'll be flat amazed by the Yamaha
Why would you even mention Harley, a company know for not embracing technology and stuck in the 1800's, when talking about Honda a company that has been nothing but an engineering pioneer in all ways? Night is to Day?
