When any other country wins 4 world cups, we can start talking about their methods and systems being better than ours. Where in the world of female soccer can you see so many exciting and entertaining games? Only in the NWSL.

This was a realistic assessment and I do think US bosses have thought well about this for football's future in US, not just for a quick fix for the existing set up and next trophy, in choosing Emma.

I won’t be so quick to put this new coach down , but if I don’t see better ball control , more combination plays , a better passing game especially in very tight spaces and last but not the least, more scoring ; Spain could have won 3 WCs if they had had our talent , but they won’t ; Japan could have won more WCs also. They were and are the best at combination plays but there too , they don’t have our talent; we have the speed the dribbling and the talent to never lose. No the world really hasn’t caught up to us yet ; they’ve caught up to us only in the coaching style , cause we’ve got the best talent in the world and in every position, but our federation is the problem; They’ve had the chance to do well , and in the past with 4 WCs but if our kids are not being taught what they need to know?? They won’t do it on the field ; why does the men’s European teams do so well ??? They’re being taught well but our teams , we need to be taught pin point passing with great ball control and combination plays ; well enough said ; let’s see what she’ll bring ; it might take a few games , and it’s not all about hustle, that’s only part of the game ; ya don’t want to be running around like headless chicken !!! But rather playing a trapping defense which a lot of teams don’t do well ; OK let’s see what this new coach will do for our women’s national team,

If you want to see better ball control, more combination plays, better passing game especially in tight spaces as well as scoring then Hayes needs to get the right players with those skills. Smith and Swanson may be fast but passing and combinations aren’t their style of play. They played run and shoot style of play during the 4 yrs under Vlatko.

I feel sorry for the 28/29/30 year old's in the current team. This appointment has thrown away any chance at an Olympic Gold medal for this group. The Holding pattern the USWNT will now go through until May next year, will put them behind most of the other contenders and thus make it almost impossible to win an Olympic Gold medal.

If you any player will be 34or older at the next World Cup, they should not be on the squad. Time to get rid of the deadwood and get new blood. 34 year old legs can’t get the job done. The abattoir needs to send a cart to pick up Morgan, Saurbrun, Dunn, O’Hara, Nayher and others. We want to win not give any sendoff to those that don’t see the signs.

I have no doubt about her qualifications. I have 2 concerns: she seems to be a little bit about herself and I’m worried that her approach maybe too harsh (do as I say to get better or else). I’d be glad to be wrong.

The USWNT in the WC were
    1. missing their 3 top attackers.
    2. in the midst of a long overdue generation change
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This idea that the USWNT needs to catch up with the rest of the world is ridiculous. Also, USSF paid over the odds for Hayes. They could have gotten an elite women's coach for much less. The USSF is not a for-profit organization. And it has responsibilities besides the senior USWNT.. Giving Hayes that kind of money was irresponsible.

Gregg had been on $1.2 million. Hayes will be on $1.6. With his new contract, he'll probably be on a similar deal to Hayes's. Hayes and Berhalter don't work in the same competition. The finances of women's and men's futbol are vastly different. Paying $1.6 million is deeply stupid and irresponsible because an elite women's coach could've been have for a fraction. Chelsea's offering to quadruple her wages to stay merely highlighted the finances involved in the women's game. Gregg is overpaid when considering the wages of MLS coaches. He wasn't even The top MLS coaches salaries in 2022 were $1.2 million(Arena),. Gregg wasn't remotely on the level of an Arena. USSF paid over the odds for Hayes and Berhalter but the context is different in each case.

Wait, the world "has caught up" in less than five years? Gimme a break. People won't admit that there's more than one path (i.e. academies) to making elite women soccer/football players. What Herc is doing is just regurgitating the talking points of Euro snobs who applied it to the men's game.
How on earth do you NOT give some credit the college/uni system for women after it produced a majority of the USWNT that brought home multiple WC trophies? Gimme a break.
