I'm 40 years old, been a baseball fan since about 1990, and I hope all the kids are enjoying seeing players like Judge and Ohtani. Because they're rare. I've seen Griffey, Bonds, Arod, and juiced McGwire, that's about how rare it is to watch someone play ball on a level that just isn't human.
@t-rozbenouameur5304 at that point though that late in the game, what do you do? You're not making it post season, it's a blowout already, went through the entire rotation and it goes on. Like what do you realistically do?
@RayzeCruxis of course, every team would do that. My point is those stats are inflated because Ohtani wasn't facing real pitching. Everyone is like, Oh my God, greatest game ever!!
Greatest game probably yes. Greatest offensive game probably not. Shawn Green went 6 for 6 with 4 bombs and 19 total bases and none of his HRs were off position players lobbing up BP. Also someone pitched a no hitter and hit 2 HRs.
There's no reason why Ohtani shouldn't be the unanimous NL MVP. "But he doesn't play defense" don't care, argue with a wall, this is one of the greatest single season offensive performances in baseball history
They give out hitting awards. But, unless he is out there risking his game defensively then he can't be considered for MVP. It's in the name, Most Valuable PLAYER. Not, best hitter. He's the best hitter this year by a mile. Someone else deserves the MVP though.
I've always said that a DH should only win MVP if their offense is so exceptional that they're in a class of their own. Ohtani is one of the few players that's ever done that.
Just so you all know, a team’s “magic number” is the number of wins a team needs to have AND the number of losses the team behind them in the rankings needs to lose in order to guarantee a playoff spot.
Think about magic numbers like this: a teams magic number, is the win total required to allow that team to lose every single game after it and still make the playoffs.
magic number is the number of games a team need to win the division because if they get to zero the other teams in the division don't have enough games left top overtake the top team. If two teams play other teams that arent in the same division and both teams win then the number drops by 1 but if the losing team is playing a divisional rival the number drops by two.
I agree! Fire Dombrowski, hes made several bad trades and signings. Neglected to addess any of team's needs. Estevan is good, but a broken clock is right twice a day.
Your hyperbole in claiming that Ohtani is the greatest baseball player of all time is another example of young folk's lack of perspective regarding the history of baseball. I'm an old goat now but even as a young fan, hoping to get Ted Williams, Willie Mays or Mickey Mantle every time I opened a pack of baseball cards, I appreciated the great players who preceded them. Do Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and Cy Young ring a bell? Ohtani is the greatest talent of today's game, only time will tell if he is the GOAT. P.S. There's a reason the award for pitcher of the year is named after Cy Young.
Come on, Fuzzy. How can you understand all that sabemetric BS and not understand magic number? If a team is five games up with five games left, their magic number is one, meaning if they win one or the trailing team loses one, it's over. Now, if you can explain to me how wins against replacement is calculated... PS: I love me some Francisco Lindor but come on folks. It's not even close.
Everyone, if you remember correctly. Shohei Ohtani is also an injured pitcher at the same time, so imagine what he’ll be able to do as a pitcher next year 🧐

Pujols?
Was at the Dodgers game and loved it!
Were you a Marlins fan?
Ohtani greatest single game in mlb history
Noone going to mention that the Marlins were getting blown out and were using position players to pitch?

Zero rings.
Shohei’s had the greatest offensive game and arguably the greatest offensive season
Greatest game probably yes. Greatest offensive game probably not. Shawn Green went 6 for 6 with 4 bombs and 19 total bases and none of his HRs were off position players lobbing up BP. Also someone pitched a no hitter and hit 2 HRs.
My goat baseball yt!
Shohei got the 50/50, Caitlin Clark endorsed Kamala and got Rookie of the year, it’s been a great month.🎉

Bro was one step away from the cycle too, f that Marlins fielder
Bro was just doing his job 😭?? Ohtani should’ve hit it better
There's no reason why Ohtani shouldn't be the unanimous NL MVP. "But he doesn't play defense" don't care, argue with a wall, this is one of the greatest single season offensive performances in baseball history
I’m both a Mets and Lindor fan but after that game I’d give it to Ohtani he’s just historic at this point

@@guy_land_designer hopefully Lindor comes back from injury and proves you right. I would definitely prefer Lindor winning it
@@guy_land_designer he IS the most valuable player. Who else should be MVP?

And thats why J-Ram is the goat
If ohtani goes like 60-60 or 60-50 or something like that next year I wouldn’t be that surprised
He won't if He's pitching.
Call me biased for shohei and all the teams that won yesterday, but oh my god what an awesome day for baseball

If Ohtani can do this while being an above average pitcher, then yes. If not there is reason for it to be debatable
