Borla is my fav, little bit too loud maybe. It it’s got I think deepest and richest tone and seems like more powerful larger engine just idling. IPD I think is the best balanced though, quieter and allows the turbo sounds and engine note to come through. And EST while not a bad show doesn’t live up to same as Borla or IPD.
I just installed and IPD exhaust on my 2007 S60R. It is everything and more. Sounds amazing but still remains retains that volvo sound without being intrusive. IPD did an amazing job with the straight through sound.
EST is what I would go for out of these three, I don't want to bring attention to myself yet still want it loud enough to hear the beautiful 5 cylinder sound. The other two are still nice.
I could tell just from the start up that IPD and Borla had it in the bag. the EST exhaust sounded quieter, more restrictive, and less aggressive. I have a DC sport muffler coming in tomorrow for my Volvo that I already heard sound clips of and it sounds pretty aggressive.
I know this video is old, but I have the EST sport version and I find it funny that people think it's too quiet. Of the 3 setups here, EST is the quietest, but in fact all three are ridiculously loud. My EST setup is almost too loud for me some days.
it sounded great outside the car and yes the IPD and Borla setup are much louder and the EST Sport isnt quiet esp with a catless downpipe. but the EST never gave enough noise inside the cabin (i have a S60R, this might be different on a V70R). several people who had a EST Sport exhaust that drove my car ended up selling them to go with a Borla or IPD setup mainly because of the sound you could enjoy in the cabin windows up or down. A guy who worked at EST had a EST exhaust, sold it to get a Borla. we need someone to make a nice valved system, push of a button its nice and quiet and then push it again and its straight pipe out the back.
@@TheVolvoDude Perhaps the wagon does make the difference, I get a TON of exhaust noise inside the car while driving. I haven't been in an S60R so I can't say for sure it's louder/different. That said, I have been shopping around for some budget dynamat to lay inside the battery/spare tire area to quiet it down a little.
Thanks for this! May have to get an IPD with a resonator to tone it down a bit (picking up my first Volvo in a few days as my daily/beater). Wouldn’t want my exhaust to be too loud.
if you want a quieter exhaust system that also sounds good look at the EuroSportTuning system or the TME, viva performance has a few options. IPD is very loud especially if you are catless.
@@TheVolvoDude Thank you for this! I just found a clip and it sounds exactly what I'm looking for. Too bad the dual tipped exhaust isn't available anymore. AND they have a Canadian store. This is perfect, thanks again! I'm picking my XC70 up this Tuesday... it's supposed to be a beater but gosh I want to do so many things to it now lol
they all sound great but yea compared to IPD and Borla the EST is quieter but its def not quiet! its more for the person who doesnt want to wake up the neighborhood and doesnt want any drone. its a great bolt-on option. but if you want LOUD IPD and Borla are the way to go.
They all sounded great! Thanks for the high quality video! I assume you have rode in all 3 of these? How do they compare in the cabin at interstate speeds? Thanks!!
Shame that You dont make "fly by" when engine stress is higer but very nice video . From this three i prefer borla :) I wonder if i can hear after 500km on highway hehe :)
its a custom exhaust from the cat back. using 3in pipe, any muffler shop can make it for you its not expensive. this was the muffler used: www.summitracing.com/parts/bor-40943
its a very good plug and play setup with good build quality. but yea its a bit quieter than id like also. if you look at my last few videos you can see what the new setup is. it uses the IPD oval piping.
If you have a catalytic converter that is functioning properly, you should have no problem. I pass emmisions with no cat. As long as there's no check engine light and all of the systems are good then you will pass as long as they don't check to make sure there's a catalytic converter under the car. You can put a gutted cat under there or one of those test pipes that is straight through but looks like a cat on the outside. As long as your OBD system is free of codes and all the monitors or good you will pass emissions. This is coming from Metro Atlanta where they do a lot of emissions testing
@@Incognitomusicoficial that would be a wsate of money the IPD sounds exactly the same in person. its actually deeper sounding. keep the IPD as is its great.
IPD and Borla sound really good.
yup! and the IPD prices have dropped so its an excellent options for a bolt on and quality is excellent!
That Volvo Guy I can't find it on IPd's website, where can I find the IPd parts for sale?

My friend just noted that the Borla sounds like a tiger hitting on you.
i dont think I know what its like for a tiger to hit on me...yet
Guessing it's probably a lot like a cougar hitting on you

EST is good when you want some performance and a little louder than stock. it sounds great outside the car but pretty mild in the car.
Which exhaust are you currently running on your volvo ?
I recently bought a high performance down pipe for my 2004 Volvo s60r from ipd I absolutely love the sound.
I think i like the est. It retains the volvo sound but at the same time adds a little aggressiveness into it.
ipd is the best, sounds bit like subaru boxer aswell

BORLA is the best choice
Great vid. Gonna link this to my volvo buddy here in sweden at once. :)

does the borla drone with this set up ?

That Borla!!!!❤❤❤❤
Borla!
Is this the EST touring edition, or the sport? Also could you include the Borla muffler product number?
its the Sport version. the Borla is a 40943.
EST sounds muted. I dont like it, but its probably perfect for some. IPD and Borla sound great, with Borla sounding the best and deepest.

I like the large "Volvo " emblem on the borla car. What part number or car did you get those off of?
Borla, IPD, EST
Start up= ipd first, est second, borla third, and the opposite order for best revs
Shame that You dont make "fly by" when engine stress is higer but very nice video . From this three i prefer borla :) I wonder if i can hear after 500km on highway hehe :)
look at my other videos you'll find some fly by clips!
Is the borla full header-back exhaust? Or is it catback exhaust or is it just a muffler? And where can I buy it? Link wpuld be greatly appreciated.

where can i buy the ipd exhaust
www.ipdusa.com/products/8814/120056-ss-oval-tube-catback-exhaust-2004-2007-s60r-v70r
Borla has better start up & idle, but ipd has better top end
I have the IPD catback. Love it, but I almost wish it was louder. I’ll have to get a down pipe and see how I like that at some point

Those 3 cars runnin which engine? Was it the b5254t2 that used in xc90?
Borla💥
Borla has the bass note. But turbo seals!
do you pass emissions with your borla obx combo?
no emissions in my state
#Fuck Emissions

how is the borla exhaust on a daily basis? does it have a lot of drone? i'm thinking about getting it for my V70R
drones really bad in a V70R. its perfect in a S60R.
Isn’t the ipd muffler from vibrant performance?
i am not sure. it looks just like a magnaflow or borla.
You know what diameter is the borla?? Exhaust and pipe
3in. its all custom piping.
Is there any way you could dropped the link to the borla
