Hello Stop the FOMO, You have an amazing channel and have great and valid suggestions for buying a TV. I bought X90K in 75 inches in Canada. I would like to know about the Build Quality of recent TV. Eg Sony TVs which were reliable for the year 2000's are the same. What are the consumer reports suggesting? Can the new Sony TV be equally reliable? Can you please cover this topic in your video? Regards- Abhi @Canada
Nicely explained FOMO! Looking forward to the comparisons later this year. Interested to see how much better Sony's miniLED TV is with their picture processing capabilities, backlight master drive, etc.
I thought the X95K got the backlit master series remote as well, but it doesn't according to the product page on Sony's site. All the models get the new design, but there is a plain black plastic one that isn't backlit, and the brushed aluminum backlit one that the Z9K, A95K and A90K get.
The 95K is technically almost the 4K version of the 8K Master series.. Both TVs have the same XR processor and master drive and MiniLED. Whatever the Z9K could do the 95K could technically do as well. They just likely hold it back a bit with dimming zone count and brightness to "elevate" the 8K to a higher status.. But think about it, the processing is the same. Hell they even used the Master drive on both. Likely because it's the best way to use the MiniLED for Sony. So they basically had to do it for 95K as well. They also know that there are buyers not going to spend 10,000 on 8K model and don't want OLED for several reasons. So why not offer an almost "master series" 4K version? Honestly if you have a room with lights the 95K is likely going to beat the A80K.. Black levels will appear just as black as the OLED (that's the trick with ambient light), and blooming will be very hard to spot. But it will be so much more brighter for HDR and SDR.. It might even give it a run for it's money in a dark room. I guess we will see.
Does Sonys 8K look blurry with HD content like Samsungs? I have 75inch X95j but the freaking grid pattern across screen LOLOL have no idea what Sony was thinking with that, but I wanted to get the Z9J because it had zero DSE or banding (figures there 8K would) but I tried 8K from Samsung last year and anything that waist 4K looked blurr af, I’ve heard people say Sonys 8K doesn’t do that but not sure otherwise I’ll get it fast LOL
The higher brightness is a double edged sword for LED. On one end you get those eye searingly bright highlights, but on the other end you get lifted blacks and more blooming. You can’t have both better blacks and brighter highlights. The Z9G was the prime example - exceptionally bright(~3900 nits), but with raised blacks and uncontrollable blooming. I suspect the use of brighter mini LED forced Sony back to using the backlight master drive out of necessity. They likely required the additional zones and added control of the BMD to keep the blooming to a more acceptable level.
I am down to the x95k and the a80k. I game mainly and also watch streaming content. I’ve seen the a80k at a friends and it is absolutely incredible but the fear of burn in and having to worry about that in the back of my mind is too stressful. Should I wait until next years tv’s with the updated chip that I hear people talking about?
Fascinating . This should help the price of the X95 J to go down some. I will be watching. Oh yes FOMO. I think Sony will take the crown. I like them better than Samsung anyway.
Well, I have the X95J and I can assure you, that televisions 1/3 it's price will give you a better experience already, so don't concern yourself with price drops, just stay away from the X95J altogether
@@rabcc it has incredibly bad blooming issues - like subtitles will light up the entire bottom 1/3 of the screen bad. On any light coloured scene like a sky, or the desert of Tatooine (really don't watch the book of Boba Fett on an x95j) if the camera starts panning you'll see a grid pattern, basically seeing the backlights through the panel. The motion judder is horrible on up-scaled content. Like a news or stock ticker that would look fine on any other tv looks choppy and distorted on the x95j. It up-scales 1080p okay but not great and 1080i or lower content looks like you're watching a cable channel you didn't subscribe to in the 80s where the whole picture is a pixelated mess (but without the colours being inverted like they were on those old cable boxes). Yeah, maybe this is a pandemic quality control thing i don't know, but I've been through 2 XR75X95J sets now and it just is not worth the price of admission. You can't enjoy dark scenes cause of horrible blooming, you can't enjoy bright scenes cause the backlights shine right through the panel. You can't enjoy SD or standard HD content cause it doesn't upscale well. The only thing it does well is 4k non-hdr content that is neither to light nor to dark for the horrible backlighting system to mess up
@@superionmaximus9900 This is the first I ever read that the SD upscale isn't good. One of Sony's famous features is the best ever SD upscaling. In any case, I missed out on the X95J because the 65" didn't release in my region. So now I hope the X95K will. I am also glad I missed last year due to the addition of mini LED this year. Thanks for the feedback.
I have been waiting to upgrade my 75" x940e (the last 4k Sony with good dimming). I haven't gone oled because I prefer the film-like quality of lcd. I'm really hoping the x95k lives up to the hype. I can't wait for your review!
On this point I agree with your assessment. The sole reason the 95K isn't master series, is because it's not binned with the screens like the Z9K.. The simple reason for that is that it's mainstream mass-market, can't bin that many TV screens and at that price. The Z9K gets binned "perfect" screens because of the sheer price and exclusivity.. If you're lucky with a 95K with almost perfect screen, it likely will be like a 4K master series in that regard.
@@KingKong-xp6so sure but no thanks. we can leave samsung TV for Samsung fans. We want good picture tuning, not the oversaturated and over unrealistic tuning from Samsung
@@Carlos2400 it's funny you say that a lot of people say they like the picture quality of Samsung TVs. It's okay to me but nothing real special cause I have a Samsung TV and I like it but I don't love it like I do OLED picture quality. Just my opinion only.
Well I think the Sony X95k will beat all the other LED TV’s due to the other companies not changing any hardware it’s all software they are using, and being that Sony was one of the best TV’s of 2021, I think it will take the top spot, but as you say depends on how much that Sony charge for this X95K, cause if they charge to much for it may be best going for the OLed A90, I really want to get the X95K 85” tv but will depend on the price
The blooming on that example is obvious. But the rest of the image is also so much better than the TCL and Samsung. Both of them look drab and washed out. The 95J looked like the A90J because of same processing and same focus on color and warmth. So the 95K will have the good look but also likely hardly any blooming. That would then make it look like the A90J but IMO even better because the A90J crushes that scene a bit. Much less detail in the periphery. The 95K I bet would look the best. But don't count out the 90B this year. I bet they addressed their issues with dim HDR in dark scenes.. This is what they also talk about with "adaptive shaping of the light". Sounds very similar to Sony and them talking about Master drive and miniLED and shaping of the light.. That and 14Bit HDR processing and better luminance. Maybe more dimming zones. Definitely more processing power. Which also was described a lot like the XR processor with the focus on detail and fore ground and back ground with depth. So I think it will be a real battle between 95K and 90/95B this time..
It's interesting because Sony now has two new tech to price (QDOLED and mini LED) plus pricing against the competition. Sony did say they still have unannounced models for this year. I am thinking more mid and lower range ones. I read one site that said the X90K is the X95J, and another one that said no. But it isn't like Sony will throw away the X95J tech. They have to do something with it and the lower models are getting eaten up by the Chinese makers.
Glad you brought that out in the chart, because at first glance you wouldn't normally notice that. This is what I wanted from SONY last year, but its here in 2022 and I may skip Mid-Tier High End from TCL/Hisense this year and just go SONY for the Living Room TV.
Oh, definitely. The Chinese brands are doing well, but they are not top tier yet. Unless you are going with budget TVs, it's the big names you should aim for. Maybe in a few more years the Chinese can compete on the top tier as well. Personally, I am only eyeing the X95K.
Can't wait for the Shoot out, using the same images that you used last year. I have samsung.(15 years) But miss my 80s&90s Sony Xbr quality. Throw down the gauntlet.
Bought an oled yesterday, can't go back! ABL in SDR would be the biggest improvement area. I could not care more about brightness otherwise. It's perfect. Got lots of DSE on my panel, but amazingly it almost all cleared up after the first auto pixel refresh after 4h of content.
@@santostinajero a Philips 706 55 inch OLED. Been comparing tvs like crazy the last year, until I finally settled on this one. For 1000 USD, I got an Oled TV brighter than LG B1 and very close to C1 brightness, better motion than LG, extremely responsive UI, very good processing and upscaling and a very good set and forget colour profile called Home Cinema. It uses AI to detect movies, and automatically switches to an even more accurate profile called filmmaker mode, and yes this works pretty much always. The best tv speakers in this class, and ambilight which with the almost lowest brightness makes the tv feel bigger and more immersive without being gimmicky at all. And the pixel refresh works wonders, I have not heard any LG or Sony owners getting their DSE fixed within 4 hours of regular use. StopTheFomo, you should start reviewing Philips Oleds! They make so much sense here in Europe.
So incredibly glad you did this editorial on the new x95k coming soon! I was very close to getting an 85" x95j BUT I felt the black levels was subpar to sets like Samsung's QN85 or 90...Excited that the new master backlight drive? will give the potential to produce near oled like blacks and still have very vivid & accurate colors,brightness...Thx for your continued great insights!
Sony simply has the best picture processing. Regardless of the panel type. I have a 950g and it still holds up, but the blooming is horrible. Really looking forward to the x95k. Possibly my first upgrade in 3 years. Looking forward to your reviews. Excellent work.
Forgetting the processing AI etc which gives an artificial inaccurate image. Processing turned off and Filmmakers mode gives a true image as the director intended. The Panasonic JZ2000 OLED was the 2021 winner for 1080p blu ray & 4k Dolby Vision/HDR viewing by Vincent Teoh HDTVtest. It outperformed the Sony A90J OLED. But yeah I'm guessing your American as you's don't get any Panasonic OLEDs (apart from year old specially calibrated models at Value Electrics) over there.
I still prefer the X95J more accurate picture quality over the Qn90a, even if it has a little more lift black bars than the Samsung to provide an overall better picture quality. And remember, there are only 60 zones vs hundreds of the Qn90a.....
I love the excuses lmao. It only have this amount of zones! it has that little amount of zones because idiots like you excuse sony, so they themselves doesnt even have to lmao.
@@alexworm1707 I have Samsung TV too and I love it, but in this case I prefer the X95J. But arguing with unpolite and disrespectful people who have a different opinion, as you are, is a waste of time. So think what you want and spend your time buying what you prefer!!
The Black Bars are horribly lifted on the Sony X95J - I own an XR75X95J, and I've exchanged it so I've gone through more then one - and they are all horrible for blooming, and the seeing the grid of backlights whne the camera pans on a sky, or desert or any other bright scene. It's a flagship Television that delivers a worse experience then televisions that are 1/3 the price
@@hugooliveira7167 sorry for being rude, but excusing sony greed to use less backlight zones is just not right imo. I have a x900f and i wish it had more dimming zones, just as any tv with full array. The more dimming zones the better, there is only so much good processing can do, and a good processing paired with good hardware will always win against just good processing.
@@alexworm1707 I wasn't excusing sony for having less zones, I was saying that if Sony can do a great job with less zones, even if it has a little more lift black bars than the qn90a.... imagine now with mini led and thousands of it... Just that.....
If you look The midnight mass stills you can see the Sony had blooming but if you look at the color it’s brighter and more natural looking than all the rest and has more accurate tones. Guess you gotta deal with a little bloom to get the best accuracy
I'm excited to see the X95K. If it has deeper blacks closer to OLED and doesn't have that grid effect that was on the 85" model then it could be a great tv. Con still is the old MediaTek chip with only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports. I personally am more excited for the LG G2 and even the C2.
@@alexworm1707 don’t say that you have no idea, what kind of blacks the tv will have… we will have to wait and see once the tv is out in the wild… if they are bad, then I will wait for a bit longer, but if they are good/great I will buy one, it will really depend on if Sony properly added the number of dimming zones, instead of just using an led dining zone tv back panel, and just throwing mini less, on it instead of actually creating a better mini led backlight system.
Grid effect was definitely a thing on MOST 85" 2021 TVs that were bright (X95J, QN90/85, etc.) I'm wondering if it's a consequence of the brightness making these physical grids visible? It's not a processing issue but manufacturing that doesn't necessarily show itself until specific content is displayed. Now that it's known, we'll see if the TV makers address this issue in 2022!
@@stopthefomo yeah I'm starting to think that to. It's one reason why I'm done with LED for my main tv. That and the OLEDs I've tried spoiled me. OLED is just so good. Now hopefully I can get a clean panel for 2022 and I'll be set.
@@stopthefomo thank you for replying Stop the FOMO, I was hoping someone would try to verify the quality of having such a large size, though I am willing to go with a 75 inch as well, it will really depend on the cost, for I don’t want to “break the bank” so to speak on a 2022 tv, especially a first gen mini led… but as long as Sony took the time to properly develop the backlight master drive, add a good number of zones, and properly implement vrr, 4K 120hz, allm, for an Xbox… then I will probably considering buying a big 85 inch tv this year…. If they didn’t, then I will hold out for another year… unless LG can convince me to buy one of their TV’s, though I much prefer Sony at this point.
I'm really rooting for this tv to be great. I would love to get a strong performing LED from Sony in the future. Their oleds are beyond impressive but leds have been a blooming mess.
The laughing at the end of your video is Sony laughing as it's X95K beats Samsung's LED. Personally, I would have preferred to pay the extra bucks for the binned X95K but I understand Sony's approach to keep the price down to sell more TV's.
They still have unannounced models. I think they will be mid and low range, but Sony is crazy. I hope they feature a master X95K. I'll buy that in an instant!
@@shmookins On paper the Sony X95K sounds amazing, binned or not. We'll just have to wait and see. The SonyX95K, G2 , Sony QD OLED and Samsung QN95B is high on my list and will buy one of them this summer.
Hey guys! So I COMPLETELY forgot about CES as I was in the midst of moving into a new larger apartment. I picked up a Sony 75” X95J almost two weeks ago since I now have space for a large tv. It’s great, however, you can def see the dirty screen effect when watching winter sports (Winter Olympic qualifiers/world championships), and nature documentaries. I have until this Sunday January 16th to return the tv. Should I return the X95J and hold out a few months until the X95K comes out? If so, what do you think the pricing is going to look like? +$500/screen size or are we thinking even more than that? My old tv that I’ve kept around is a 43” Samsung Plasma which I’ve kept from burning in. Best guesstimates/advice/opinion would be really helpful! Thank you!!!
First and foremost... thank you for all the content, I have learned a lot from you. It is nice to have people like you and HDTVTEST brining us the information we need to make better decisions when investing so much money on a tv. Next question... Do you remove the lenses from your glasses to keep from having light reflected back at the camera? I am not making fun, I am asking because I have noticed that in some videos you have lenses and in some like this one it looks like they have been removed... lol... Thank you for the all that you do, it is very much appreciated by this subscriber.
you probably should. I have the XR75X95J and it's a piece of crap. The blooming is unbearable, the grid pattern DSE anytime there is panning on any bright solid coloured screen, the horrific up-scaling. I have to turn off all the fancy features, and turn the brightness down to 20% to get even a half decent experience. Not what I was expecting from a $3K Flagship Television.
@@superionmaximus9900 I have the same model. Yes the grid pattern is unfortunate. I got it because I didn't want an OLED and Samsung had no Dolby Vision. It was also on sale for $2299 at BB.
I had the 90J and a 950h though good TV's no where near the Z9D. I would take my LED back for that master drive with Mini-LED if I was within my return window. The master drive is probably the best LED backlight system made.
Hi FOMO, please correct me if I 'm wrong but my understanding so far is that the X95K is positioned as a premium option by SONY and does NOT come with SONY's master series remote out of the box in US and Europe.
Don't diminish MiniLED itself. The zones are important yes. But the smaller lights means less bleed and more light control into more "finely tuned" light.. Imagine how that one large LED needs to be lit and shines up a big part of the screen when only 20% of the area needs to be light but it lights up 100%.. With miniLED it could light up that small 20% and nothing more. Less light bleed into larger area. Of course the dimming zones are important to contain the light leakage and make it pure black in the zones.. But the key is the combination of both.
Hi Fomo, I need help to pull a trigger in the next few days lol. I’m considering a 65” A80J ($2,200), A80K ($2,600) and X95K ($3,300). Please give me your thought. Am in Canada and the price difference between the A80J and X80K Oled is about $400 while the 75” X95K is $4,700. Thanks in advance and hope you’re staying safe out there. Keep doing the awesome work bud
Hmm, well I hope the x95k is a decent price (< oled cost), for I am looking for a big tv, I’m thinking right now I will go for the 85 inch x95k depending on the reviews/ how does everyone like/dislike Sonys Master Drive Dimming Algorithm…) as well as it’s cost, for I have a hard ceiling that I don’t want to spend more then, about 6-7,000 on a new tv… so hopefully Sony doesn’t charge a lot more for the master drive/other improvements in this years tv, over last years… I mean I am willing/able to pay a bit more, but I need to see the quality of the tv before I buy as well. So I will be waiting to see it on stop the fomo, b the installer or any other UA-cam channel…. I just want to update my post, after seeing the reviews, and figuring out what I want to do. I will be going with a 75 inch x95k, this year.
Great video Fomo...really informative thankyou. I had heard the specular highlights on the sammy were poor so if Sony gives brighter specular highlights even if a little bloom creeps in..I perfer this. Thanks for the heads up on this ever changing tech and please hurry along the Sammy vs Sony 2022 video!
No (and he and others said so). But it won't burn in, so that is an automatic win for me. You only ever get an OLED if you are rich enough to change your TV every three or less years and if you want to go through the silliness of babying your TV and constantly be worried. But the image sure looks nice...
Fomo I just hope Sony can pull off what they are saying on paper and pull it off with the TV. You know we've heard those kinds of claims before from various TV manufacturer's. Proof to us what you are saying on paper please.
At 8:09, Midnight Mass, at least on those pics, the Tcl and its thousand dimming zones is way less faithful, has an atrocious contrast with washed-up image full of blooming everywhere, it's a Midnight Mess. Whereas the Sony X95J has a little bit of blooming at the right, but way faithful contrast, colours and some pretty warmness from the dim lightning. The Sony A90J shows terrible black crush, the right side is complety shut down with no visible details, shy colors. Praise the soon to come Qd-Oled panels from Samsung to light this up ; )
I have the X90j and this X95K and the picture is awesome on both My question is should I buy the extended warranty from Sony ?? Because I have a 900f that was only 2 years old die that is why I just bought this X95K
5:45 I've watched this video five times already since release and I just now realized those two tables under the LEDs illustrations aren't actually tables and aren't actually part of the drawing. They are, in fact, an actual image of the LEDs themselves. >_
Interesting stuff. As you say the X95K reads like a master series TV but on the other hand the main selling point of the previous couple of generations of the X9 series has been the relatively low asking price. Going to be a difficult balancing act for Sony this year as they will need to price this below or similar to their entry level OLED which looks like a big ask.
Still personally looking for the new QD-OLED displays. God damn does it look like a decent improvement. Though it does look like microLED is getting closer now see that they are making more displays with it now and all the brands seem to have money in it now. Though I still expect it to be about 5 years off mainstream.
Fomo,(it will be more expensive than last year x95j and if it was a master series it will be even more expensive than that!)if I was Sony I would say you are sooo sweet sir!
X95j 85 in mine anyhow has a lot of DSE and grid so any panning or moving action gets pretty blurry. Not what I was expecting for a high end TV. Sony says its working normal, as intended. Good God. Not right 😭
Fomo interesting vlog here just I do not understand what you are trying to say here I know of all about what Sony Master Drive does so what is the point of this vlog!!! Keep it coming Fomo!!!
Nice video I now have a Sony TV series Brava x94j only I think it is very dark and grey have all adjustment settings and also messed around but cant enjoy it TV without HDR is stil dark too is the x93j or x95 or x90j better? hopefully I didn't make a bad purchase because I just got it home!
My money is on Sony pricing themselves out of the miniled market. Will try to price themselves aggressively ahead of both Samsung Neo QLED and LG Qned.
ARe you saying you think the X95K will be better than the A80K OLED? I've been leaning towards an OLED since I'm coming from a Pioneer Elite Kuro Plasma. Interested in your thoughts.
@stop the Fomo, amazing content! Do you think the Bravia cam is useful or gimmick? As the only picture settings it does is dimming the screen. And 90% of people never use the auto brightness setting.
Besides the frustration of the dreaded GRID pattern on my X95J, I'm very satisfied with it...but if the 22 models are that much more improved, and NO GRID effect....the big 85in X95J may be relegated to basement TV! Can't wait for future reviews!
Hey fomo and fam, what’s the release schedule for Samsung and Sony? I see the qn90a became available February 17th, so will the qn90b follow that as well? And what’s Sony release schedule usually? I’m interested in the shadow outlining 3 dimensional tech Samsung is touting where it also will separate subject from background and not dim everything..etc cuz the qn90a is like 1500-1600 for a freaking 55” so there’s no savings to be had buying it now unless the 90b is gonna be 2k for a 55”
Welcome to capitalism. Best bang for buck HDR impact is TCL & Hisense, but you lose other things. The Sony tax is for the little things: better upscaling, motion, out of the box color accuracy and of course the "name" is extra BUT I believe the Samsung tax is similarly bad. LG has the fairest pricing when it comes to their OLED C series, but their LCD TVs are WAY OVERPRICED so i don't get that!
Can you shed some more light on this, please? Maybe a link or something? I'm considering buying a TCL 6-Series and just want to do as much research as possible
@@stopthefomo I don't know if it was your review or another one, but aren't all the panels the upgraded version this year? Maybe "upgraded"is the wrong word. I was planning on the 75 inch btw. I thought of an interesting idea for a video. "Should you wait for Black Friday sales?" The thing is, I can't find solid information on what kind of sales/discounts actually happen, whether the "Black Friday" sales that already started (IN OCTOBER) are "real," or what.
I absolutely believe that the Sony will take the crown away from Samsung. At this time I am still using a Sony 930 E TV and love it. I have noticed the improvements in the TVs or the last couple years. Just waiting. It looks like I will no longer be waiting.
These technological changes are interesting but are they good business? I believe that the vast majority of TV buyers want quality, value and reliability. How many buyers want the risk of being early adopters and how many want their new TV becoming technologically obsolete in a year or two?
If you want good business. None of Sony Samsung and lg will be lasting long. Cheap Chinese TV all over the place due to low manufacturing cost, rnd and low technology requirement. There's a reason why all these established none Chinese brand have to go for technology lead area instead of normal low technology area

How many are raising their budget "just a little more" for the X95J?
FOMO, If you had to make a guess, what do you think the MSRP for the X95K will be?
Lets see if all goes well i might sell my two 4k tvs for this one 🙌
Can’t wait to see some reviews of this TV. Will likely between the X95K and the G2 👌🏻
I think I’m raising mine for a Z9K. Sony is buying back my defective A90J 83”
Im only buying master series TVs 😎😎👌
Fascinating . This should help the price of the X95 J to go down some. I will be watching. Oh yes FOMO. I think Sony will take the crown. I like them better than Samsung anyway.
Well, I have the X95J and I can assure you, that televisions 1/3 it's price will give you a better experience already, so don't concern yourself with price drops, just stay away from the X95J altogether
@@superionmaximus9900 why to stay away from x95j? It’s that bad?
So have u upgraded what’s ur view on the x95k now?
Amazing how much better your product can look when it hasn’t been upgraded in years
🤣
On this point I agree with your assessment. The sole reason the 95K isn't master series, is because it's not binned with the screens like the Z9K.. The simple reason for that is that it's mainstream mass-market, can't bin that many TV screens and at that price.
The Z9K gets binned "perfect" screens because of the sheer price and exclusivity..
If you're lucky with a 95K with almost perfect screen, it likely will be like a 4K master series in that regard.
I hope this is going to be a killer LED TV now that it's miniled. With Sony's out of the box image I have a strong feeling it's going to be excellent.
Samsung will be no less. They'll have the similar techniques while using an AI chip..
@@KingKong-xp6so sure but no thanks. we can leave samsung TV for Samsung fans. We want good picture tuning, not the oversaturated and over unrealistic tuning from Samsung
Yeah I'm shock people by a Samsung that picture quality is horrible
@@Carlos2400 easy. General consumer: oversaturated, overprocessed fake look and oversharpen = good picture
My biggest question is whether the panels from X95J will trickle down to X90K. If so, then that makes the X90K an even better value.
HA, keep dreaming
It's interesting because Sony now has two new tech to price (QDOLED and mini LED) plus pricing against the competition.
Sony did say they still have unannounced models for this year. I am thinking more mid and lower range ones.
I read one site that said the X90K is the X95J, and another one that said no. But it isn't like Sony will throw away the X95J tech. They have to do something with it and the lower models are getting eaten up by the Chinese makers.
I wish Sony would make this tv in 55 inch
Or a 53" would be the cats meow
I second that notion.
Please be a good TV, X95K. I'm tired of waiting for a new TV. lololol
What model did you get.?
See that’s what I mean LOL why don’t they put a dumb ass pixel refresh on LED tvs and clear the banding/DSE up on those? LOL stupid
So MASTER series tvs prevent me from panel lottery?

The x95k actually gets me excited for the first time in 4 years. The oleds are just a bit better every year.
If you look The midnight mass stills you can see the Sony had blooming but if you look at the color it’s brighter and more natural looking than all the rest and has more accurate tones. Guess you gotta deal with a little bloom to get the best accuracy
This TV looks like it’ll be much better than my recently purchased X95J !
I'm excited to see the X95K. If it has deeper blacks closer to OLED and doesn't have that grid effect that was on the 85" model then it could be a great tv. Con still is the old MediaTek chip with only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports.
I personally am more excited for the LG G2 and even the C2.
it will have poor blacks, due to x wide angle, just as every other 950 series.

What about x95k blooming issue ?
The laughing at the end of your video is Sony laughing as it's X95K beats Samsung's LED. Personally, I would have preferred to pay the extra bucks for the binned X95K but I understand Sony's approach to keep the price down to sell more TV's.

First and foremost... thank you for all the content, I have learned a lot from you. It is nice to have people like you and HDTVTEST brining us the information we need to make better decisions when investing so much money on a tv. Next question... Do you remove the lenses from your glasses to keep from having light reflected back at the camera? Thank you for the all that you do, it is very much appreciated by this subscriber.
The more you put these videos up the more I want to return my X95J and get the K version lol ;))
you probably should. I have the XR75X95J and it's a piece of crap. The blooming is unbearable, the grid pattern DSE anytime there is panning on any bright solid coloured screen, the horrific up-scaling.
Feels like this year is a good year to allocated some of your savings on a new top tier Sony TV.

FOMO, do you think the X95K will really rival Oled this year despite what it says on paper ?
No (and he and others said so). But it won't burn in, so that is an automatic win for me.
You only ever get an OLED if you are rich enough to change your TV every three or less years and if you want to go through the silliness of babying your TV and constantly be worried. But the image sure looks nice...

At 8:09, Midnight Mass, at least on those pics, the Tcl and its thousand dimming zones is way less faithful, has an atrocious contrast with washed-up image full of blooming everywhere, it's a Midnight Mess.

Welcome to capitalism. Best bang for buck HDR impact is TCL & Hisense, but you lose other things.
Wonder if they Finnaly gonna have working hdmi 2.1 ?
How do you determine if tv came with a not so good panel though
