Big fan of Leibniz cookies in dark chocolate and Ritter Sport. I have a Ritter Sport stuffed with Marzipan in my fridge. I ordered some from Germany for Christmas! I think you could do an episode on German potato chips - the flavors can be amusing to foreigners. In Germany, I include bakeries on my list of places to find yummy savory and sweet snack foods. You didn't even mention the rolled-up sponge cakes you can buy in stores. I remember frequenting a German Fleischerei (butcher) that sold Frikadelle (meatballs) in a fresh broetchen (breadroll) for lunch at the underground shops at Hauptwache in Frankfurt.

As a Norwegian; I like Kvikklunsj, it's often compared to a KitKat but it's taste more creamy, more chocolaty. Take also an orange with you, and you have the traditional Easter -Ski tour/long hike, picnic, You also have 2 competing chocolates:Freia and Nidar and their variations/bars. I like both. And :the Smågodt, known from Sweden, but a big favotite in Norway as well. There I prefer the gummi things and chocolates. I think Germany have nothing that can compares with this.
Paprika Chips are the most sold chips in the Netherlands as well. Also the cookies with a chocolate bar on it. We call them Scholiertjes....little scholars
Deanna has definitely the better taste. I'm team Hanuta, Haselnuss and Choco Crossies and always prefer the nuts to the milk cream plus I also love the sour gummy bears. My favorite candy (as a German) is quite hard to decide... maybe Rocher or Kinder Bueno with Hanuta and Duplo close behind. And "Nimm 2" should be mentioned as well. Quite a staple in the 70s and 80s and I still love 'em, maybe also because they remind me of my childhood.

The only ones I had there in the 70s when I lived in Germany was the Ritter and the Haribo. Marzipan is the best German candy we also have the gingerbread cookies with the white bottom, we called them paper cookies.
@ could be they’re about 4 inches in diameter and they have that white paper type stuff that they use in churches. They usually come in six packs, three glazed three chocolate.
I spent the summer of 1989 in West Germany and ate at least one full bar of Ritter Sport (either Nugat, Marzipan, or Alpenmilch) every day - I was 17 years old and I think they cost 50 pfennig at the time (half a Mark).

I thought you were introducing the best Turkish lemonade there is, Uludağ Gazoz. Everyone who has ever been to Turkey loves Uludağ Gazoz. In the beginning you could only buy it at the kebab shop around the corner but now you can get Uludağ Gazoz everywhere and I love it.
I used to take my money to the totto lotto stand and buy gummies and brause. Love the real kinder eggs. I always take 2 dozen home to the grand kids. They only want German Christmas calendars. I love mineral water. We also had the totto lotto man that came into housing with veggies and candy.
Instead of funny-frisch Paprika, you should try their flavour "Chakalala", which IMO tastes a lot better. Chikibai Curry was even better, but it is hard to find or even discontinued.

I’m a fanta fan! Was raised a Coca-Cola kid, but always preferred Town Club, Faygo and Fanta fan! I remember going to the Town Club warehouses and being allowed to pick my 4 sodas. Same for my brothers and our parents picked the rest of a case of 24. I grew up in metro Detroit and one of those warehouses became a CVS ( Arbor back then) more than 30 years ago, after Town Club and Fanta pulled out of Michigan to relocate to Mexico. Obviously Knoppers since Hanuta is just half a Knoppers without any cream but some dry, crumbly "chcolotate", the only dry crumbly chocolate which gets a pass are the classic chocolate sprinkels or Blockschokolade in deserts. Have you tried Ritter Sport Nussklasse yet? Even better than the regular Ritter Sport I tell ya and defenetifly worth the extra money just like Kakaoklasse which has 3 ingrediance only accept for the milk chocolate one, that has 4 because milk. Very good choice of candy, most of my childhood was represented, i can confirm that the vast majority of Germans know all of these and have eaten at least most of them, if not all. Well done!
Or even some of the new versions that have one type of chocolate and maybe some strawberry in the other side and maybe some cookies in the other side of this chocolate bar 🍫
I was in the American candy business for 25 years (1971 - 1996) as a Candy Broker. I have eaten Ritter Sport Chocolate in the USA, and liked it. Of course Lindt is the best chocolate I have ever had, but at a premium price. I buy LIDL and ALDI chocolate now at their grocery stores. I do not know who manufactures it in Germany. When I used to go on vacations to Iceland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden, I was always fascinated with the varieties of European candies on display at the Airports. The only time I was in Germany was when I had to get a connecting flight to Sweden. My ancestors came to America from Austria, Germany, and Switzerland in the 1700s. My Great Grandfather Sprecher had 2 wives and 20 children.
@@robertrobert7924 Fun fact about one of the brands sold at Aldi: Moser-Roth. It’s a very old company which simply couldn’t compete alone at the chocolate and candy market in Germany and nearly went bust until they were sold to Storck (the makers of Knoppers). Now Moser-Roth is exclusively producing chocolate for Aldi, and I have to say, this chocolate is really really good.

That you’re talking about meatballs can also be found in Denmark 🇩🇰 a very old Danish tradition my friend 😎😎😎🤜🏻🤛🏻👍🏻🤘🏻😊😊😊😎😎😉😉😉🍺🍺🍺🍺🍻🍻🍻🍻

I'll try the crossies based on your recommendation. My great grandmother used to make them for Christmas and now I'm curious if they'll take me back.

You two are a couple of snacks! 🇩🇪 🇺🇸
I have to get some Choco Leibniz at least once a year. Love them - so simple and delicious.
Paprika Chips are the most sold chips in the Netherlands as well. Also the cookies with a chocolate bar on it. We call them Scholiertjes....little scholars
Absolute Favorite video genre 😍😍😍
Happy Blessed New Year to you both, all the way from Guam 🇬🇺 🎉
Deanna has definitely the better taste. I'm team Hanuta, Haselnuss and Choco Crossies and always prefer the nuts to the milk cream plus I also love the sour gummy bears.
My favorite candy (as a German) is quite hard to decide... maybe Rocher or Kinder Bueno with Hanuta and Duplo close behind. And "Nimm 2" should be mentioned as well. Quite a staple in the 70s and 80s and I still love 'em, maybe also because they remind me of my childhood.

I wouldn't even take it, if it's free. Too sweet and too many customers gift us Merci.
The only ones I had there in the 70s when I lived in Germany was the Ritter and the Haribo. Marzipan is the best German candy we also have the gingerbread cookies with the white bottom, we called them paper cookies.

Instead of funny-frisch Paprika, you should try their flavour "Chakalala", which IMO tastes a lot better. Chikibai Curry was even better, but it is hard to find or even discontinued.

I was in the American candy business for 25 years (1971 - 1996) as a Candy Broker. I have eaten Ritter Sport Chocolate in the USA, and liked it.
