A miscellaneous tip that might be appreciated if you primarily two-hand weapons (especially if you're using Rellana's Twin Blades for their unique two-handed moveset) is always keeping the Beast-Repellant Torch in your offhand when you're exploring castles or wandering around. It extinguishes the light source while it's placed on your back, but keeps the beast-repellant property active. As such, guard dogs don't alert anyone to your presence and wont attack you. Even if they're scripted to ambush you, they just jump out and bark, but dont hit you, and literally means never fighting any dogs in the DLC, because there are no red-eyed ones anywhere in the Shadow Lands. Additionally, all the regular animals that will aggro like rats, rams, boars, wolves, & bears don't ever attack you, and even the new Shadow Lands' horned varieties of those beasts also stay passive, as well as the Frenzied rats & rams in the Abyssal Woods.
The other thing I don't know TOO much about yet is what seems to be an unexpected interaction with the Cursed-Blood Pot that I haven't been able to test out more and might be worth a look. Normally, throwing it will make your Spirit Summons go red-eyed, get extra aggressive, and give off a red smoke while that's active. However, it seems to also affect the Death Knight boss, as when I used it, they repeatedly re-triggered the Mohg sigil on themselves along with the red smoke effect multiple times. I have never gotten this to occur on any other enemy since then (living, Mausoleum Knight, or Those Who Live in Death), but haven't been able to test on the Castle Sol spirits or on another Death Knight again yet, as I haven't gotten back there again in my current game. (I have some footage of the initial accidental discovery on my channel if you want a reference for what to look for and can give it a try).
One thing I noticed when fighting radahn is that his meteors are affected by the moon spells, so if you cast it and release it before the meteors get too close, they'll get pulled in!
I believe the meteors are attracted to you, but the moon simply gets in the way and breaks em. Its not necessarily an interaction of the moon attracting them

My best guess is that they had multiple versions of the Ash of War for this weapon in testing and decided for the main one. While the other versions aren't being actively used, they are still in the files. But once you use the other two ashes of war the move overrides with one of the previous versions. Probably because of some file name overlap that triggers the moveset change accidentally. All this to say, it's probably a bug.
@@desolation1821 I dont think thats it. From the wind particles you can tell that they're portions of the stormcaller ash of war. Since it has several different atack sections thats what causes the variety. I think its more so to do with the location of the motion files the same way that hold type ash of wars have ghizas wheel as the default causing the well known chainsaw glitch.
If you put flame skewer on the dueling shield and then use the ash of war it changes the ash of the scythe into yet another skill similar to the second half of the glintstone Kris.
That scythe thing reminds me of a weird quirk of the "ornamental straight sword" you get from the first grafted scion. 1 - Two hand them (they're paired by default) 2 - use the ash "golden tempering" to buff them 3 - use the heavy attack while buff is active (charged/un-charged doesn't matter) 4 - immediately throw a throwing knife of any basic variety (I'm not kidding) 5 - immediately use the heavy attack again. This results in your character putting the swords together and performing an uppercut followed by a downward smash. Probably not very practical but could maybe weird someone out during a duel.
Use assassin's gambit, mimic veil, unseen form or the new torch AoW to sneak past the death blight eyes. And you can kill them with destined death once you get behind them. Destined death also works on the "winter lanterns" without having to parry them.
If you're having trouble with the Aging Untouchables, DoT is NOT the way to go. I would argue that this is bad advice. Even if you suck at parrying, parrying is really the only worthwhile way to beat them, as they have far too much health to burn through compared to the madness buildup they inflict and aggressive behavior. Effectively, it should take around five to ten minutes to kill one Aging Untouchable this way, WHILST you are also contending with a constantly filling madness meter, _and_ the attempts at one hit kill grapples that you'd have to perfectly avoid every single time just to not lose the progress you've made. No, you're far better off teleporting to the grace closest to the first Untouchable, and just practicing your parries on them. This will not only be less time consuming and frustrating as attempting to whittle away their health as Damage over Time (because they ONLY take the damage over time, ignoring the actual attack that applied it), but it will also get you better at parries, which can only help you in the long run. Remember that as soon as they aggro, they will charge up a black aura and teleport next to you, knocking you down (if you trigger one while fighting another enemy, like nearby frenzied rats, they may not teleport and will simply run toward you for the grapple) You can avoid this teleport attack, but it's difficult to time. However, if you let it knock you down, but don't roll out of the prone state, it's grapple attempt will miss as you're lying on the ground, though it will increase your madness a little. Then you can roll backward and prepare to parry. It might take a few goes (I got the first one on my first try, but fucked up the follow through and died to madness. My subsequent attempts I messed the parry up like five times in a row, but I got there pretty quickly), but it's well worth it, and it feels incredible to knock one of those bastards over and see the health bar appear, and then quickly disappear beneath the force of my twin maliketh black blades. Bonus, the first one in the forest closest to the grace is the one who drops the Talisman.
New tip: Instead of using the Black knife armor to sneak past the Untouchable ones, use the AOW Assassins Gambit (Suppresses footsteps and makes you partly invisible (Halves agro range)). I always found this AOW to be the best at eluding trash mobs on my way to boss rush and it works amazing against the Untouchables too.

Highly recommend wearing that all the time, and the Briar gloves all the time as well for the roll interrupt/skeletal enemy killing, or even just breaking Opaline in PvP. I'm real spoiled by silent movement, lol.
That bug with Obsidian Lamina seems to transform the second part of Dynastic Sickleplay into the final slash of the Spinning Slash ash of war if I’m not mistaken. The form is takes after the twinblade is how spinning slash looks on twinblades, as Spinning Slash has different animations and properties depending on the weapon it’s placed on. That more horizontal sweeping animation from the colossal sword and great katana is the form Spinning Slash takes on both of those weapons. Really interesting occurrence. I’d love to see if it works with any other forms of Spinning Slash animations.
Funny enough I actually used throwing daggers as means of distraction the untouchables after killing the first one for the talisman. Glad I learned about it and not the only one to know it too.
There is one way to kill the untouchables as well black knifes abilitie also works takes about 10 or more abilities to kill them.but be cautious of getting hit during the blackflame ability.blackflame incantation also is effective but takes alot longer then the black knifes version .
That trick with the scythe is very interesting. I like the twinblade version as it’s just an alteration of spin slash and will work better than the normal full combo it has. I have to try it
Just found out, from my phone's news feed, of all thing, on Reddit, that you can store your throwable pots, and make more, just have to turn off auto fill, make more then turn it back on, i literally now have 20 heafty fire pots in my storage, give me a few DLC playthroughs and I'll have an unlimited about of furnace pots
Oh wow that’s an interesting way to dodge gaius. I just banged my head against a wall waited until the very last second to dodge and rolled straight through the boars body. That way though looks way easier. Will have to try that on my second playthrough.
Don't know if its been mentioned already, but with the untouchables, assassin's gambit works well. I'd imagine crepus's vial and unseen form would work as well, though I haven't tried it.
With the obsidian lamina, just judging from the footage you showed and not any of my own testing, the first AoW change appears to be the same as the second part of the Spinning Slash ash of war, while I think the more vertical attack is one of the finishing attacks out of either Wild Slash or Spinning strikes, but I’m not as confident about that.
Bro the pontiff and relana or w/e her name is are golems. The pontiff is a wood golem with roots surrounding a white stone and relana is a steel golem with chain mail as the base. That is an insane detail that only was discovered now. Wow.
i've had the beast claws raging beast ash of war bug out and turn into a spin attack as well. i think it was the followup heavy attack part of it that changed. not sure what other weapon\ash i was using but the black steel twinblade definitely also triggers it
If you haven't noticed from Demon Souls, to DS1, DS2, and DS3, and Elden Ring, they re use a LOT of models and spells and weapons, bosses etc. the only difference is they get better and better in each game IMO and they add new details and switch up designs. But there's literal models from DS1 in Elden Ring I'm willing to bet, Capra Beasts and Crucible Knights, a bunch of the soldiers, Rellana and Pontis is for sure the same model just upgraded and updated. It's actually very intersesting if you play from Demons Souls to Elden Ring and seeing the evolution of everything.. Amazing really what they've done.
Yea discovered the Obsidian Lamina bug a couple days ago. I put Stormcaller on the Grave Scythe, and was power stancing them in duels. When I switched to 2 hand the Lamina, I saw that the follow up on the AoW changed to the ending swing of Stormcaller AoW.
Ok, I am missing two bosses for the expansion. Should I work to take them out before burning the Erdtree? Edit: that bit of dogging Gaius attacks is gold. Rellana should have had an introduction to her battle at the least.
The scythe 1 doesn't really change the move just the order of follow up slash. sword was horizontal to vertical and twin blade was vertical to horizontal.
I had that weird scythe glitch with the beast claws using the raging beast ash it would change the heavy attack follow up looked very strange with hand weapons
I noticed that bug with the scythe but with rellanas twinblades, I was using a twinblade in a different slot with spinning slash, and then when I used the ash on rellanas twinblades it did the regular ash but if I pressed it again almost like if it was a follow up it changed into that weird wind looking spinning slash attack. very strange
I consistently dodged the boar charge by simply rolling straight through him, I was baffled when I saw people struggling against this attack (don't get me wrong, it's the worst boss fight of the DLC)
@ragegamingvideos I think the scythe ash of war is intentional seeing as its essentially a more refined free flowing version of an evasive punisher it makes sense that its follow up changes based on the weapon type you switch it from because its also much faster then the weapon type in your off hand as well just my observation and speculation
Pls investigate mimic tear not working in the DLC. Mine is attacking with his bare hands using fgms occasionally despite being equipped with pest threads and blasphemous blade. People on reddit are posting lots of examples similar to mine

Reddit account I mentioned
ReasonableTreeStump
For the abyss I just used invisible formation. That's what I usually do when I don't wanna fight all enemies in he way
Raging beast aow also is effected by crucible wings aow on twinblade; possible many aow's with a follow up are affected by the bug
idk why, but i found that dodging straight through the boar charge worked really well.
I also used the Mimic Veil with the silent armor to just walk past them!
For Gaius you can summon Torrent and double jump over that initial attack
Oh wow that’s an interesting way to dodge gaius. I just banged my head against a wall waited until the very last second to dodge and rolled straight through the boars body. That way though looks way easier. Will have to try that on my second playthrough.
Don't know if its been mentioned already, but with the untouchables, assassin's gambit works well. I'd imagine crepus's vial and unseen form would work as well, though I haven't tried it.
I did this glitch by accident the other day and was not sure how it happened until now. Thanks for the heads up
Many thanks for the tips and secrets. They sure do help!
The Obsidian Lamina ash of war is also crazy good against Melania.
Everybody says that Rellana reminds them of Pontiff, but to Me, she more closely resembles the Dancer of the Boreal Valley, only smaller and faster.
You don't need those specific arrows If you aim close enough to them. They can hear the arrow land as well
Bro the pontiff and relana or w/e her name is are golems. The pontiff is a wood golem with roots surrounding a white stone and relana is a steel golem with chain mail as the base. That is an insane detail that only was discovered now. Wow.
Well that shield that hints about anor londo being an ancient city, maybe relana is a descendant of pontiff
i've had the beast claws raging beast ash of war bug out and turn into a spin attack as well. i think it was the followup heavy attack part of it that changed. not sure what other weapon\ash i was using but the black steel twinblade definitely also triggers it
Hornsent granny won't talk to me after defeating the Divine Beast, even when I wear it's mask.
No fucking way rellana is a re used pontiff asset. That's amazing.
The lamentors lantern makes you basically invisible in the madness forest ... you can just sorint past them
The ash of war assassin's gambit also works like the black knife armour
Doesnt the granny cursing you out as the strumpets (Marikas) spawn not lead credence to the theory that the Tarnished may be a demigod?
Capra Demon would more likely be Omen Killer
Yea discovered the Obsidian Lamina bug a couple days ago. I put Stormcaller on the Grave Scythe, and was power stancing them in duels. When I switched to 2 hand the Lamina, I saw that the follow up on the AoW changed to the ending swing of Stormcaller AoW.
How do tou undo the glitch?
@@dragonmagick869 Loading a different map seems to fix it. Didn’t test if sitting on a Grace changes it
Hey yo, the new op thorn spell, jumps gaps and holes, climbs up and down walls and cliffs and only full stone creatures are immune to it.
For commander gaius I just hold up a great shield lol. But that tip is really cool.
Ok, I am missing two bosses for the expansion. Should I work to take them out before burning the Erdtree?
Edit: that bit of dogging Gaius attacks is gold. Rellana should have had an introduction to her battle at the least.
Assassin's Gambit Ash of war on a dagger will keep you as invisible as Solid Snake under a cardboard box
The scythe 1 doesn't really change the move just the order of follow up slash. sword was horizontal to vertical and twin blade was vertical to horizontal.
I forgot about that bore I think I killed him instantly and never thought of him ever again
You can use Crepus's Vial in the forest. I used that against the Untouchables Ones.
As far as rellana being similar to pontiff i think ive heard a lotta people say this dlc references all the other souls games or at least some of them
For commander gaius I recommend using Miriam’s vanishing
What an odd detail with the Obsidian Lamina! Holy moly
Idk if anyone knows but me and a friend were messing with the hand to hand and if you change the affinity it also changes the moveset a little
Obsidian lamina with the crystal spear has a different one as well
Some really cool stuff here, tyvm.
I had that weird scythe glitch with the beast claws using the raging beast ash it would change the heavy attack follow up looked very strange with hand weapons
I actually really like the tip for the obsidian lamina. I hope they leave it since it doesn’t break the weapon.
If you use the black blade incantations against the death blight eyes, it stops the build up
the intouchables can be killed with destined death as well. slowly, but it works
untouchables*
I found another lamina ash and it was a faster lunge and spin than the other ones and I was so confused until now
I counted 6 secrets
Where are the other 8 promised in the Thumbnail 🤣
never to be found because they're secret secrets
there is also a talisman that makes you move in silence
If you approach grandma hornsent while cursed with the frenzy flame ending shes hostile upon entering the room
Ive seen that you can also kill the untouchables by using destined death.
Unbelievable!
You can use this consumable that makes a human noise to distract the untouchables.
An ash that changes depending on what weapon you pair it with? Take my money!!
Really wish those twin blades would stay glowing magic and fire. Really disappointed that they don't stay a glow
I thought the same thing with rellana! Just like with Bayle I was like.... ITS MIDIR V2.0 😍
@ragegamingvideos I think the scythe ash of war is intentional seeing as its essentially a more refined free flowing version of an evasive punisher it makes sense that its follow up changes based on the weapon type you switch it from because its also much faster then the weapon type in your off hand as well just my observation and speculation
Essentially it’s like the perfect follow up weapon ash of war for any aggressive play style because it covers different angles of evasive punishment
There’s a talisman that eliminates your sound as well
Pls investigate mimic tear not working in the DLC. Mine is attacking with his bare hands using fgms occasionally despite being equipped with pest threads and blasphemous blade. People on reddit are posting lots of examples similar to mine
You can also spam the lamina ash of war without fp
What armor are you wearing? It looks like dry leaf outfit but darker
