    What stings the most is that is that in any other life, Zanac would've made a good king. Not a great one, but a good one. He was smart, but not smart enough.
    In the novel version of this arc, there's an artbook page for his character, and at the bottom was a note left by the author:
    "His elder brother was destined for the throne, so his position in the royal family was never very secure. Few nobles supported him, and he had close ties to almost no one in the palace. Yet he never let that stop him from devoting his energy to safeguarding the future of the crown. If he, Renner, Raeven, and Gazef had worked together, they could've fended off the Empire and made the kingdom strong again. That might sound impossible, but if Nazarick had not appeared and Barbro (the original heir) had died before his coronation, that was what would have come to pass."
    RIP my homie, he went down swinging.

      Yep, smart enough to know his own limitations and recognized the value of working with Raevan and recognized his sister’s terrifying genius. He was also pragmatic enough to use the strength of Gazef along with Renner’s genius to cull the Nobles of the corrupt and incompetent like Jircniv did, which his father was too kind hearted to do. Commoners suffered greatly in the Kingdom at the whims of corrupt nobles and an underworld that grew insanely strong during Rampossa’s rule. Gazef by himself was stronger than the rest of the military combined (with the Kingdom treasures that removed fatigue and the armor and sword), and with Renner’s genius and Raevan’s savvy Rampossa could have pulled his own Bloody Emperor move and his Kingdom would have been far better off for it. Zanac actually could have done it.

  • @rahn45
    @rahn45 Рік тому +97

    If someone was looking at the developing conflict from the outside in, it's extremely hard to take the side of the Kingdom. The Sorcerer Kingdom and the Re-Estize Kingdom had a neutral to friendly relationship, as the Kingdom was allowing relief aid from the Sorcerer Kingdom to travel through it to the Holy Kingdom. Yet despite the agreement you had nobles from the Re-Estize Kingdom attack one of those relief aid convoys, steal the supplies; then blamed the Sorcerer Kingdom itself for orchestrating the attack. Not only that the Re-Estize kingdom goes out of its way to protect the noble that launched the attack in the first place. Then on the eve of battle, the nobles decide to betray and backstab a member of the Royal Family in an effort to buy their lives.
    Probably wouldn't be unreasonable to think the Re-Estize kingdom full of backstabbers, thieves, and traitors.

The Guardians have the utmost respect & loyalty towards all the 41 supreme beings(kind of the gods of guardians) who created them including Ainz & those people chose Ainz to be their guild's leader so technically if Ainz shows any kind of weakness then it would mean all those 41 supreme beings were not that smart to chose Ainz as their leader.
    Thats why I think Ainz lets them think that he is "that dude" to kind of save faces of all those supreme beings.

She tortured one of them using a spiked catheter, since that inflicted the same pain her creator had suffered (gallstones). In the visual novel, the one noble whispered "what about our families", Ainz heard him and told Albedo to track down their families and send them to Neuronist as well. Some of the torture methods not mentioned include flaying their skin for resources, cutting their organs out and feeding them to the other victims, and implanting them with eggs and letting them hatch inside, turning them into "nests."

    It reminds me of The Secret History of the Mongols. Jamukha was a Mongol military and political leader and the chief rival to Temüjin (later Genghis Khan) in the unification of the Mongol tribes. Also Jamukha was an anda ("childhood friend") and a blood brother to Temüjin. They were good friends, but they had their own responsibilities to their sub-tribes. In fall of 1201, a great battle broke out between Jamukha's alliance and the Khereit-Khamag Mongol alliance (Temujin's alliance) at the Ergune valley. This decisive battle, known as the Battle of the Thirteen sides, ended with Temujin's victory and eventual ascension as Khan of all united Mongol tribes.
    Jamukha was eventually betrayed to Temüjin by his followers in 1206. Temüjin executed Jamukha's betrayers on the principle that betrayal merits the harshest punishment. The Secret History of the Mongols states that Temüjin offered renewal of their brotherhood, but Jamukha insisted that just as there was room for only one sun in the sky, there was room only for one Mongol lord. He asked to be executed by dying a noble death without the spilling of blood. His request was granted by having his back broken by Temüjin's soldiers. It is said that Temujin buried Jamukha in the golden belt that he had given to Jamukha when they formed their bond of brotherhood.
