Brian Cashman best hits of the last 10 years: 2017 Deadline: He refuses to give up enough prospects for Verlander, Astros swoop in last minute to get him and he dominated the Yankees in Games 2 and 6 of the ALCS. 2019: He doesn't have enough starting pitchers and the Yankees had to use Chad Green as an opener in ALCS Game 6. He promptly gave up a 1st inning 3-run homer to Yuli Gurriel. 2021-2022 Off-Season: He refuses to include Oswald Peraza and Anthony Volpe (who each have a career OPS under .700) in a trade package for Matt Olson, who hit 88 home runs in 2022 and 2023 combined. Yankees had a lifeless offense all season outside of Aaron Judge and got humiliated in the ALCS. 2022 Deadline: Refuses to trade Volpe for Luis Castillo, instead trades for an injured Frankie Montas. And here we are in 2024, not a single one of those prospects he held on to turned into a great hitter.
I wonder if the Yankees are the worst organization in baseball developing offensive players. Everyone seems to regress and judge uses a personal hitting coach.
@@alexhiggins8134 they are certainly up there. Dillon Lawson was awful, and from what Ben Ruta said on Foul Territory, their minor league coaches are horrific.

The most telling article I've read about the Yankees approach to roster building was the one I read in spring training which claimed that Cashman low-balling the free agents they were interested in. He's ALWAYS low balling everyone in trades as well. That's why we end up with a handful of middle relief pitchers with a 4.5 era.
Man I feel like cashman is type of guy hard to do business with. Maybe he rubs some gms in a wrong way, idk but just watching his one interview earlier this year just how he is Not judging tho
Cashman thinks he’s smarter than he is and I believe he always goes into negotiations trying to win or fleece the other side instead of getting the job done. I’ve hated Cashman for years. He’s a dinosaur that can’t catch up to all the new GMs. Can’t just spend money and win like he used to
I can imagine what playing the board game Monopoly with Cashman must be like. Everyone is making deals all around him finishing their property set and building houses, while he turns down every offer to finish his own set because he has to "win the trade" or no deal.
like every year Yanks counting on injured players coming back as our biggest trade deadline additions. Hal and Cashman really thinks the team that was set up in Spring is gonna win it all and if it doesn't, theyll just kick the dirt and say darn our luck. I'm not even mad we didn't acquire Flaherty. I am upset that he didn't trade Cortes and Torres and thinks just because Jazz is athletic that you can just hand him a 3B glove for the first time and not miss a beat. Enough half measures, excuses, and taking no accountability for failures
Agreed . I am mad because they did almost nothing to address their biggest issue . Their pitching . And that happens every trade deadline . So tired of it

Everyone complains about getting him after spending months complaining that we need a swing and miss reliever that can get lefties out. He's got 23 consecutive outs with 14 Ks. If he gets 4 more outs in a row, that's the equivalent of a perfect game in relief. If it were a start, a perfect game with14 strikeouts would probably be the greatest game ever pitched.

It’s almost like cash has been a major issue for multiple years…. Can’t develop talent, can’t put together a modern roster, holds onto prospects, and it goes on and on. Cant wait to hear Kay defend this atrocity.
I'm betting there aren't more than a couple teams who have traded as many prospects as the Yankees have over the last few years. We trade prospects all the time.
@@snerdterguson if you don’t recognize his prospect hugging with players (Andujar, Clint, Peraza, Florial, etc…) then you either haven’t been paying attention or are in denial. Obviously he’s traded prospects 😒 we can’t develop talent, so may as well trade the “top” prospects we always hold onto for way too long. But you’ll defend Cashman no matter what, so this conversation is pointless.
Cashman didn't mind losing a trade when he traded Monty for a shitty hitting outfielder who was injured and going to miss like 2 months so why worry now?
I feel Joez genuine disappointment to my core. We totally could’ve gotten Flaherty seeing what the dodgers traded for him. If Cashman doesn’t resign Soto we freaking riot for this man to be fired
Have to view every deadline and move through the Lense of Hal simply won’t let them add $ to the payroll . Look at what they added it’s virtually no $. When you combine that with multiple roster players not living up to contract you get a mess. Makes you wonder why there wasn’t more of an effort to move Gleyber or Verdugo. Clearly the $ for this year matters to Hal. What a joke
I know Yankee fans don’t want to hear this but this is the Dodgers’ year to win it all they have to. After what happened to them these last two years in the playoffs , investing in half a billion for two players they absolutely have to win this year. The dodgers not winning would be one the biggest disappointment in all the major sports , this is their year and that’s it.
The problem is the Yankees farm system is not great. The idea that they have ammo to beat better farm systems for the best players available isn't realistic.
And look at the game tonight. They blew it in the 9th! Why did they not get a closer. I hate Cashman so much. Why not get bullpen help?!?!? Every freaking year. Clay Holmes is not a closer. He blew it again.
For the buyers, I would say we had the second or third best deadline. Added an impact bat and two arms for the pen, while sending our worst reliever to the hated Astros. We didn't grossly overpay like the Padres did for Scott, the Orioles did for Rogers or the Astros did for Kikuchi.
The Yankees farm system is trash. Hard to do anything when you have no assets that anyone wants. The whitesox laughed at the Yankees when they asked about what it would take to get crochet. They probably said Aaron judge cuz that farm is awful
As a Giants fan I am so frustrated and confused at wtf our ownership is doing. We literally got so much worse and Farhan thinks we can compete when we are a million teams back from wild card and we historically can barely score against bad teams. What the actual fuck
I’ve come to the conclusion that the Yankees are beginning to waste Judge career or the latter of it The Yankees are tremendous scouts of talent which is to say they can pick talent but are just as bad at developing that talent Don Mattingly raw talent Derek Jeter raw talent Judge raw talent But can not develop consistently like say a Tampa or Baltimore even the Dodgers who are constantly over 95 wins If the Yankees don’t go above and beyond to trade for players they won’t go above and beyond to sign one so I believe Soto will be gone after this year and side note : it’s safe to say Judge doesn’t like Cashman 🤷🏽♂️
I've seen some talk in Jays land that the Yankees were trying to get Chad Green, but they would not agree to sending a Top 5 prospect or Two Top 12's to the Jays.
@@fernandoposada5440 Well, he hasn't had that problem in Toronto this year... but at any rate, that's why if you believe that rumour why the Yankees didn't get him.
It seems like the Yankees won’t make a trade unless it falls into their lap. Not only did they fail to improve the rotation or bullpen this time around but they traded Neely, a guy whom many people thought could take over the closer role. I guess we will never know.
Cubs fan here. Guys….i can’t believe what I’m seeing. 1. I’m not sure you understand how good and nails Leiter Jr is? He can go. He’s really really good. What are you guys missing? Or am I off kilter here? 2. I said it a lot, Jazz was the cover athlete of The Show guys. He’s not a scrub. This dude was foaming at the mouth for an opportunity on the big stage. He loves the spotlight and cameras, he oozes it, reminds me so much of raw pure young Javy Baez vibes. 3. As far as Starters go, I’m sure Cubs talked about Taillon but what did you think it was gonna take? There’s no,doubt in my mind Cubs would ask for Spencer Jones, so would you have done it?
I dont care that they didnt get tailon but come on leiter is 33 years old , just came back from injury and has over a 4 era . That is not much help for the bullpen man
@@fernandoposada5440 I’ve watched him be lights out for 2 seasons day in and day out. He got hurt once this year and the dude has like a ZERO ERA with no hits given up in July or something along those lines. Do you follow baseball as a whole or just NY? He doesn’t fold too easy either.
Finally a reasonable take rather than the people that just trashed each of the moves. Leiter fills multiple needs in the pen,we needed swing and miss guys, he's got over 13 Ks per 9, and we need guys who can get out lefties, he has held them to a .213 average for his career and a .657 OPS. Don't know De Los Santos really, but I trust Matt Blake to get results.
I wanna be optimistic that the Yankees will have the assets in trade and the $ to spend if Soto doesn’t re up this winter but this deadline feels so typical and such a waste
The fact that trey sweeney was involved in the Jack trade is kind of embarrassing imo. Like we got shit for sweeney (although vic g was pretty good with the dodgers) and now the dodgers flipped him for sub 3 e.r.a. Flaherty.
Liranzo was more of a prize than sweeney was he was top 5 in the Dodgers org for a reason he's gonna potentially be detroits catcher of the future and they got him for half a year of Flaherty
How did the dodgers get a game 2 starter without losing a top 5 prospect or 3 top tier prospects or a current big league player...while the yankees who needed a starter with cole hurt didn't get the 2 white sox guys who were on the market
Baltimore is definitely going to take the east with the trades they made. Picked up good players. Yankees well Cashman gotta go. NY will be out the 1st round if they make it
So Jazz is your every day 3B unless Gleyber doesn't hit then you move Jazz back to 2B and Cabrera to 3rd? Have Dominguez in case Verdugo doesn't hit and the bullpen and starters are just supposed to figure it out with 2 under the radar bullpen additions?
It's probably that every move that they try to trade for was probably wanting Jones or Dominguez in the deal. Would of wanted another arm as I don't trust Cortes in that spot.
Brian Cashman is a joke. Aaron Boone is a joke. George Steinbrenner needs to wake out of the grave and take control of the team again because any Yankees fan who follows Cashman during the trade deadline needs their head checked how many times in the same thing happen and we as fans don’t learn from it.

Snerd is blind . I mean the infield problems alone are a result of cashman’s prospect hugging over the last 3 to 4 years
The Yankees are satisfied if we just make the playoffs
Lol when Ian Hamilton Nick Burdi come back, Cash and Boone will be singing the whole 'thats like a trade' tune
Gonna probably be weeks until that happens
Cashman has failed again to address the biggest need of this team! The bullpen is brutal and Holmes is not a closer.
What a joke
Im tired of hearing the Yankees are in on this player.I just wonder how hard the Yankees actually tried to
I know Yankee fans don’t want to hear this but this is the Dodgers’ year to win it all they have to.
Since judge was brought up its been one over hyped and overrated player after another and yet some fans still think the future is bright lol
Cashman strikes out again!
But the silver lining is he didn't give away any of our best prospects for... injured mediocrities. FIRE CASHMAN !!!!
Do we have a new closer identified now?! Gotta love Jazz tonight again!
So many teams didn’t do enough because the expanded playoffs have completely castrated this sport.
What kind of contracts are Holmes and Torres projected to receive next year? Most blown saves and most fielding errors on 2nd must make them cheap?
I bet dollars to donuts tgst they bring both back next season . Or atleast one of them
And look at the game tonight.
Oh please , both of those arms they got for the pen have over a 4 era and one of them is 33 . This deadline was a bust
Been saying for 2 or 3 years now that Cashman HAS to go. Otherwise the Yanks win nothing
Lets just say it
The Yanks aren't the Yanks anymore, just a shadow of it
Hal, Cash, Boone are Titanic to the Judge era
Dam shame for such a talent
cashman… it’s time to pack it in.
We need Matt Blake to go full Harry potter mode to make this bullpen average.
He hasnt all season so how can you expect him to do so now?
The Yankees farm system is trash. Hard to do anything when you have no assets that anyone wants. The whitesox laughed at the Yankees when they asked about what it would take to get crochet. They probably said Aaron judge cuz that farm is awful
As a Giants fan I am so frustrated and confused at wtf our ownership is doing. We literally got so much worse and Farhan thinks we can compete when we are a million teams back from wild card and we historically can barely score against bad teams. What the actual fuck
Song pause ‼️‼️haven’t had that since 2020
A little context: Very few quality arms and sticks got traded. It was a sellers market. Relievers are mercurial. One never knows.
Should of played the depressing song
Aside from a better reliever, can't blame cashman for not going for it when nobody gets traded
I'm with Joez. Cashman is gunshy.
I’ve come to the conclusion that the Yankees are beginning to waste Judge career or the latter of it
The Yankees are tremendous scouts of talent which is to say they can pick talent but are just as bad at developing that talent
Don Mattingly raw talent
Derek Jeter raw talent
Judge raw talent
But can not develop consistently like say a Tampa or Baltimore even the Dodgers who are constantly over 95 wins
If the Yankees don’t go above and beyond to trade for players they won’t go above and beyond to sign one so I believe Soto will be gone after this year and side note : it’s safe to say Judge doesn’t like Cashman 🤷🏽♂️
I've seen some talk in Jays land that the Yankees were trying to get Chad Green, but they would not agree to sending a Top 5 prospect or Two Top 12's to the Jays.
Green isnt worth that much . Too probe to big hrs
He doesn’t fold too easy either.
the jazz trade was solid. the 2 trades for the relievers werent bad. the issue is there was entirely too much left on the table.
He is also 33 , just came back from injury and has over a 4 era . Many red flags there
And they needed more than just one guy to really impact this bullpen
Wish the Yankees had signed JT Realmuto
Why would the Phillies trade their star catcher when they have one of the best records in baseball?
@@SakAttack87 well with basic reading comprehension you can see he said sign not traded for. He was a free agent we passed on like Harper.
@@BouncingZeus Oh, fair enough I definitely misread that one. He would've been a solid back stop once they knew Gary wasn't going to work out.
I wanna be optimistic that the Yankees will have the assets in trade and the $ to spend if Soto doesn’t re up this winter but this deadline feels so typical and such a waste
Hopefully Boston bumps the Yanks from the playoffs and Cashman gets fired
I am mad at Cashman.
But I dont blame other teams for not wanting Gleyber and DJ 😢
To be fair this was a lack luster trade deadline all around
The fact that trey sweeney was involved in the Jack trade is kind of embarrassing imo. Like we got shit for sweeney (although vic g was pretty good with the dodgers) and now the dodgers flipped him for sub 3 e.r.a. Flaherty.
We need a new gm and a new manager period it’s obvious to everyone
Yankees didn’t do enough
Friable offense for cashman not to upgrade the bullpen
Liranzo was more of a prize than sweeney was he was top 5 in the Dodgers org for a reason he's gonna potentially be detroits catcher of the future and they got him for half a year of Flaherty
This was very cathartic
#FireCashman
No one wants Gleyber he was the Yankee trade bait but no one bit. 🤷🏻♂️
These acquisitions would be sufficient if we were like… 8 games up
No bandwagon when we hold the trophy this year n Jazz get WORLD SERIES MVP
Ignoring the Jazz Chisholm acquisition is incredibly weird behavior considering he's the best position player traded at the deadline??? Like what??
How did the dodgers get a game 2 starter without losing a top 5 prospect or 3 top tier prospects or a current big league player...while the yankees who needed a starter with cole hurt didn't get the 2 white sox guys who were on the market
Baltimore is definitely going to take the east with the trades they made. Picked up good players. Yankees well Cashman gotta go. NY will be out the 1st round if they make it
They say the Yanks didn't like Flaherty's medicals, possible back issue.
Speak for yourself , i wasnt expecting much at the deadline . Never do
Yanks going nowhere with this starting rotation and bullpen.
