  • Hey everyone welcome back! This time I'm fixing the 996 after the water pump decided to un alive it self in spectacular fashion. The replacement kit from ‪@fcpeuro‬ made everything easy peasy and the car is back up and running for less than $300 US.
Thanks again for checking out the video!!!

I’d be careful with the metal impeller when they fail they can damage the block. I’ve seen this happen before. While the plastic may be less durable it’s much less likely to damage the block if it goes. Thank you for the 996 content great to see.

Dude I dig the synthwave and lo-fi vibes! This was a fun video, looking forward to what comes next!

Metal impeller for the win. You don’t want plastic chunks getting lodged in your coolant passages forever. I’d rather take the risk with metal impeller gouging the block if bearing goes real bad.

Yea, I think by the time a metal part fails the same way It would be time to replace a motor anyways lol. Thanks for watching brother!

    Nice content.
Just schedule the water pump as preventive maintenance, replace every 40k.

If I've said it once, I've said it a millions times... plastic has no business being inside of an engine.
PS: BC 996 represent! I'm just outside of Victoria with a 2001 Carrera. 😎

Yea same its really stupid that they expected it to last as lomg as they luckily do. Ive heard ppl that had 996 and 997 new that blew out thw pump within a year or two.
And that's awesome! Hit me up if your ever venturing to the mainland!

Hi, very helpful, I am about to do the same on my 996 as well. Btw, when I bought the car, it came with the same steering wheel. Mind sharing how to wire up the horn to work?

Hey right on they are fantastic cars!! Horn should have a groundwire from the orignal you hook up to the gold tabs on you're momo button.

Good video. Did you loose any plastic fin pieces or were you able to find them?

I wouldn't say it's a breeze, but it's not that hard. Broken rusted exhaust bolts were the annoying part for me.... swapped out with decent stainless stuff and a good scrub
