Hey Hipyo Tech. I have been using these for about a year now, and the key caps are honestly fine! There is a little bit of texture loss, but over all pretty good!

I would actually like to try this whole setup with the rubber keycaps as an office keyboard. Would probably change the stabs and lube the switches, mainly out of old habits but I actually like the muted sound of this.
I hope they make those silicone keycaps a permanent item for sale. I wanted them, but was not about to pledge to the Kickstarter for the board and all that money just for the free caps lol.
@hipyoTech pro tip for identifying Plates like that. Steel is magnetic, and aluminum is not. so if you put a small magnet on it and it sticks it's steel. if it doesn't its aluminum
Have you ever tried the silicone keycaps with click bar switches? It works wonders and the sound goes from annoyingly high pitch to pleasantly deep and crisp. I have it in my current RK84 build fitted with Navy Blue and it’s amazing.
That material used for the squishy keycaps is very similar if not the same as the switches on the oven the previous owners of this place left. The rubber used broke down with the oils from frying foods on the stove, and began to become mushy. I imagine the same would happen with the small amount of oil your fingers produce to keep your skin moisturized on the keycaps with how frequently they are used. Oils and certain plastics and rubber really don't mix sometimes and they deteriorate rapidly.
I backed one of the older Kickstarters for a model with a numpad on the left, because it's such a unique layout. After having it for 5 months or so, I would recommend any similar Epomaker/Skyloong board for people who would like a nicer looking, well priced but not high end board, especially if it has hotswapping. I've found it to be a perfect general starting board for collecting/trying switches and different keycap styles.

To anyone interested, I have had a Sharkoon keyboard for about 9 years with their version of the rubberized keys. They only give you 8 of them, but they have held up perfectly with any discoloration able to be cleaned off. Never gathered dust. The keyboard is terrible, but those keycaps are great and have lived a life. It appears they still sell them as well and they look to be the same design.

Not too much. You shouldn’t see white anywhere, just a light sheen. Remember that especially for tactiles, overlubing, particularly on the part of the stem that grants the tactility, will ruin said tactility, or at least reduce it greatly. While on linears you should lube the stem legs and copper leaves contact point fully to remove all friction, that is not adviced on tactiles.
