When I transplant my succulents I check for dry or wet b4 transfering to another pot- if dry I soak it in a little bit of water to soften the dirt b4 loosening the soil so not to damage the roots. If too wet i don't water it I just plant it in cactus soil with sand and permiculite simi dry dirt. Also what help is moisture water meter. $8.99- $34.00 Amazon or Wal-mart. Elena Celeste I don’t moisten the roots because you’re making open wounds when you break them up which could potentially cause rot...running water would probably work better. Also vermiculite holds water so might not be as good as perlite or other non-organic additives. Sand is good but only coarse sand...fine sand or beach-type sand will also hold water a long time. I used to use a moisture meter but now I just watch my plants and let them tell me when they are thirsty. A meter is good but even if it says “very dry”, that doesn’t always mean it’s time to water. thank you for being so detailed in informing all different scenarios; I have like 20 all diferrent and so glad I found you; we are in Miami, florida. I have some in our gorgeous pool terrace and I have some indoors in a huge window at my kitchen area that is open to the pool terrace area; we have over 400 orchids of all breeds; my hubby is in charge of those lol. Thank you
Awesome video! Thank you! I've been doing mine way wrong. Didn't realize the roots needed to calcify if damaged before watering. It's so depressing to watch them die. THANK YOU 🤩
Thank you so much! Don’t forget also that they are super sensitive to watering. I made a special video on how to tell when they need water so that may help as well. It’s always sad when you lose one but it happens to all of us
I was given two succulents and I had no idea what to do with them, but I wanted to try. I have never been able to grow plants. Your video is very helpful. Thank you!!!
If you’ve never been able to grow succulents in particular, I really recommend that you watch my video on watering. Most people kill them due to overwatering but if you watch the video you will find out how and when to water them without killing them. Thanks for watching!!
Im so glad i found this video i am subscribing! My roomate and i each bought a succulent a couple months apart from each other. We both overwatered of course and they died. So i bought us each a new one a month ago. I had heard once a month watering so i learned about watering today. They were SO DRY. I bottom watered. They are tiny plants in tiny plastic pots but i have the twrra cottas that the other ones came in. Neither have holes so ill try to hand drill holes in them. Now i have to figure out what each one is, summer or winter growing. So much to learn but once you know, you know i guess.
this is so great video. I love succulents so much and I even have a bunch of it at home, what I love most is they're so cute and occupies a little space compare to other ornamental plants. Great to know things from you as well. We learn from each other.
Thank you for sharing your expertise with succulents. I am new to the succulent world and adding to my collection. I am soooo bad about overwatering them because in Texas where I live, dried out plants = sudden death! But I am learning!
Thanks!! Yes watering is a major succulent issue. I have a video about watering also! But yes here in Arkansas we get super hot days so smaller plants or babies burn to a crisp if you’re not careful
This was exactly what I needed, thank you!! I've wanted succulents for years and my dad just gifted me with several. I was unprepared and had no clue what to do with them lol, so this was so helpful!
Hi I'm a newbie and learned a bunch today. I have had succulents over the years. I'm probably guilty of to much water. Now I see what not to do. Thanks a bunch for sharing your expertise with us😊

Thank you so much for this video, I am beginner with succulents plants, I am subscribing to your videos. I just repotted 2 succulents today & I hope they live. I have other plants but not succulents -- it goes against everything in my mind to not water when repotting.
So glad I found your video! I am getting ready to repot some succulents that have outgrown the little pot they came in and I would have done so many things wrong and been so sad if I had hurt them. I feel much better prepared to introduce them to their new homes now! Your video is super informative and I am definitely following you! Thank you so much and I look forward to learning a lot from you!
Hello, I'm a new subscriber from Southside Chicago!! Thank you for this informative video, now I know why I've been assassinating, so many succulents,, everytime I repot them💔. I've been too tough on roots, water right away, & put in direct sun. Too many wrongs.. I was giving up on succulents all together... Hopefully they'll/I'll do better now with your tips ☀️

So glad I found your videos♥️ I just got my first succulent for Mother’s Day🥳 I have always been a natural green thumb for other indoor plants but I’m weird & I prefer small plants that don’t grow crazy fast or I toss them lol. Very good video about how to repot and water the new bought succulents. I am to repot some tomorrow and will try to adhere to the basics as detailed in video. Thanks a lot... Plant a plant for better future..Regards..Arun..An Indian..
Very helpful instructions. I did not know about the watering of succulents when you repot them. I have a tendency to water everything when I transplant it thinking it will "fix" it. Thank you.
Thank you 🙏 I had done such an amazing job growing some succulents a year ago. I reported them and all of them died. I couldn't figure out what I did wrong. Now I know. I just moved last month and bought some new babies at Lowes and I am so scared to repot them. Terrified. Now I know what to do. You're wonderful. I just subscribed.
Oh I’m so sorry you lost your plants!! Also don’t forget to avoid watering too often! That’s the #1 way they die. Thanks for watching and subscribing! ❤️
My first time watching one of your videos...good thing I did as I bought 3 cute little succulents today and was going to repot and of course water them! Now I have much more confidence. Thanks! And I love your accent! 💕🇨🇦
Gosh! Thanks for the lesson. I am a total beginner and I found your video very useful. I am looking forward to your next video. Have a Good day. Greetings from United Kingdom.

Thanks! I had no idea about the damaging the root and watering afterwards thing ! That's what I'm doing wrong ,I bet! I thought, why isn't she watering it ,it's super dry ( after potting) . But when u said if u water it ,it could get root rot from the damaged root. I did not know that! Thank you! Well, I learned something!. I always message and loosen the root ball so that it will grow but of course things happen.
Thank you so much for this video. I just got my first two of many succulents that I plan to start and this saved the day. I love love love your greenhouse. I want to get one soon!!!

I forgot to say thank you again. Ill check out your videos to see if theres one that tells....brain no worky....whats plant is named. Identify! Yes. And i want to say ive wanted succulents since i first saw on pinterest a wall succulent garden. It was very cool hanging on a patio and so colorful. I lived in an apartment back the so it was years and years ago. I bought seeds from Wish once. Idk what became of those. So this is my first real attempt. They are everywhere in north texas. Maybe like that in other states too.
Well thank you for watching and subscribing!! Succulents definitely get easier once you get the watering down. They’ll tell you when they’re thirsty. Anyways don’t trust seeds from Wish, they’re almost always not succulent seeds. There are not a lot of good sources honestly for seeds, I only know a few
Hi. Fantastic work. I really want guidance to plant in glass containers. I repotted yesterday in moist soil. I'm not sure now if it was the correct thing to do. These succulents I bought were v small
Hey there! Glass containers without a drainage hole are pretty much a death sentence for succulent beginners but if you are super careful, it can be done. I have some I made over 7 years ago still going strong. You really need to learn how to tell when your plants need water and you can’t give them too much when they do, just enough to get them to plump up and remove wrinkles. You also need to have the perfect soil mixture, so it will evaporate fast enough and dry out. Inside the home is even harder. Planting in moist soil is not always the best idea and they could rot but you might be just fine. Check out my other videos about how to tell when to water and also how to make a good soil mixture. Thanks for watching!!
I had never really had succulents before. My boyfriend brought an arrangement of succulents home from a co worker that though they were dead. It is jade, donkeys tail and something else that I am not totally sure what it is. I've had them for about 6 months and just water them every month or so and they are looking really good. The jade is growing like crazy and all the leaves were shriveled before are thick and full. The donkey tail lost most of its leaves before I got it but now has at least a 4 inches of new growth that looks really good, on the end of a pretty bare stem that is like 6 inches long. The other plant is growing well to. I think when it gets warm enough outside I am going to try to separate them and repot them. Thank you for this video it will help me alot.
That’s wonderful!! Be careful repotting the donkey tail, they are super fragile! You can always leave that one in the original pot. I have a big one and I’m too scared to move it. It can be done but it’s a task. Congratulations on keeping your arrangement alive and happy ❤️
@@SweetSweetSucculents I have decided to repot the 3 succulents in separate pots the donkey tail is so bare and broken and since it was all coiled on top of the pot and not hanging down the side there are alot of roots from where the newer growth is. Could I cut the new growth that has started rooting itself and plant by its self? Obiouviously leaving the cut end to dry and callous for a few days. I have also found at least 2 dozen leaves that had fallen off the donkey tail at some point that have started growing new plants so I do have some backups.
I haven’t bought a jade in at least a year up until the other day I found a cool one. This video was made awhile back. You should check out my new ones! :)
Marcella Raplee Thank you for your comments! I actually have a raised bed outside that I put Succulents in during the spring and summer and I am planning on doing a video next about it. One of my very first videos was me putting it together last year
SweetSweet Succulents wonderful...I look forward to seeing it. I am looking at some of your other videos as well. You are so easy to understand and don’t rush what you are showing. Hugs and looking forward.
Thank you so much for this video! It was very informational and I really enjoyed that you showed multiple scenarios, not just one. I am a new plant mommy, and I have 3 little guys now. I am so nervous. Once they are repotted, will we have to repot them again? Can you show how this is done if we need to. also, how do we change out the soil when you can tell the soil has used its nutrients. I just repotted mine, and I wish I watched this video before hand. She was dry and I took massaged the soil off as you did. but I realize now I shouldnt have watered her!! I hope she doesnt rot! =/ thanks again for this video!
lpt2008lt Those are all great questions and I may do an update to that video to talk about repotting and when to change soil. You really don’t have to change pots unless it is outgrowing its pot. You also technically don’t have to change the soil, you could just add fertilizer if you wanted to. Thanks for watching!
Oh my goodness, I just damaged some roots of a jade plant (pulled them a little) when trying to repot without realizing they were the roots and panicked so hard. It was only a little bit of them so hopefully they're okay. Glad to know it's part of the process, will definitely NOT be watering for a while.
Tahiti Kruse Sounds good to me! I know also hens and chicks don’t really like the heat and prefer cooler temperatures so keep that in mind with them ❤️
@@SweetSweetSucculents , that's why I killed my hen and chicks! It had many babies but I placed it on our front porch that gets really hot, esp at noon😢

So glad I found this video! Last time when I re-potted my newly bought succulents, I killed all of them because I did all the Don'ts that you pointed out!!! Thank you and I'm looking forward to watch all your videos
Well thank you!!! I’m so glad I was able to help. I hope you will subscribe and check out my other videos ❤️
Thank you for the information ☺️ I repoted my 4 succulents and was worried that I did it wrong. Thankfully I found your video and realized I did it correctly!
Emily M glad you got them all fixed up!! Thanks for watching ❤️
Same here. I came hoping I didn’t do it horribly. Turns out they’re gonna be alright.
Amber Cadance yay!!
Thoroughly enjoyed your video how to repot succulents for beginners. This video was easy to follow and your presentation was marvelous. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the compliment and thank you for watching! I hope you can subscribe and check out all of my other succulent tips and adventures! ❤️
You are so funny and articulate enough for a beginner like me to understand.Because my" brain no worky" all the time.
Haha yes I remember that moment - it happens! Thanks so much for watching!!
Very nice and informational this is my first time planting succulents. Thank you
Gold Coast Gardner Thank you very much and thank you for watching!
thank you for being so detailed in informing all different scenarios; I have like 20 all diferrent and so glad I found you; we are in Miami, florida.
It’s always sad when you lose one but it happens to all of us
@@SweetSweetSucculents really helpful ty again
I love how you had 3 different examples, super helpful!!! 😊 thank you so much, I’m a new succulent parent
Welcome to the addiction!! ❤️
I learned several tips that I have not heard other UA-camrs mention! Great video!
Thank you so much and I hope you subscribe if you want more tips in the future!
Skye's the limit thank you!!
Glad it helped, and thanks for watching!
Hi I'm a newbie and learned a bunch today. I have had succulents over the years. I'm probably guilty of to much water. Now I see what not to do. Thanks a bunch for sharing your expertise with us😊
Nancy Austin We were all newbies at one point! Water is going to be your greatest enemy as you will come to find out. I’m so glad you learned something and thank you so much for subscribing!
Thank you so much for this video, I am beginner with succulents plants, I am subscribing to your videos. I just repotted 2 succulents today & I hope they live. I have other plants but not succulents -- it goes against everything in my mind to not water when repotting.
Thanks for subscribing! I know it’s so tempting to water but just don’t ❤️ I’m sure your babies will live
I enjoyed your tutorial I’m a new plant mom and I’m learning to care for my succulent.
I am so happy for you! Succulents are so much fun! I wish you lots of luck on your planty adventures!
Aww thank you so much!! ❤️❤️
Thank you. I am just learning how to take care of succulents. You are extremely helpful ❤
Thank you so much and thank you for watching! If there anything in particular you would like to see a video on, I would love suggestions!
Veronica Sanchez don’t give up! My basic rule is lots of sun, and if they look good, no need to do anything...but never give up!!!
Thank you! So very glad I found you, I have been so confused regarding potting, repotting, soil, watering. You answered all of my questions!
02shelbyanne yay! I have a video all about watering also if you haven’t seen it yet! Thank you so much for watching ❤️

Hello 👋🏼 from Chicago! Thank you for this video, I wanted to repotted my succulent. I’m now your new subscriber. Yay!
Hello from Little Rock, Arkansas! Thank you for subscribing!
New subscriber! So glad I found your videos♥️ I just got my first succulent for Mother’s Day🥳 I have always been a natural green thumb for other indoor plants but I’m weird & I prefer small plants that don’t grow crazy fast or I toss them lol. I want more succulents they are so beautiful and these videos will be a big help!! 🙏🏼
Medusa Well succulents are low maintenance so I think you will love them! Also thank you so much for watching!
This was SOOOO helpful! I was about to repot a bunch of succulents I got from a subscription. I haven’t done it yet because I was scared I would kill them all. I’m gonna go repot them now!! Thank you!
Thank you so much! Have fun planting!!
New subscriber and this was a very good video. I have some new plants to do something with and I also ordered some. I hope to plant them in a raised garden bed I have. It is one I can bring in come winter. I live in Denver. Thanks for sharing!,
Excellent video with lots of good information. I just subscribed and hope you will have many more. Thanks.
Thank you so much!!! I hope you keep watching - I plant to do list more! Also, if you ever have a particular topic you would like me to do a video on, please let me know, I’m always looking for things to make new videos about :)
Great tips, water is succulents’ enemy! More succulents killed by overwatering than anything else, you learn the hard way!
Jane Vt. Exactly! I definitely learned the hard way when I started but I’m finally getting to know my plants and how long they can go without water. Seems like they all have different personalities! Thank you so much for watching also!
What can I do if I did watered it when I changed the pot?
Suhay Gonzalez I would just give it plenty of light and let it dry out really really well
I just bought some succulents today and have no idea how to take care of them lol Thank you so much for this video! I subscribed 😀
Thank you so much! Just remember, lots of sun and don’t water unless they look thirsty ☀️
Wonderful explanation on repotting with dry or wet soil! I now understand better 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Thank you! Thank you!
Klare Rio ❤️ thank you!!
Very good video about how to repot and water the new bought succulents. I am to repot some tomorrow and will try to adhere to the basics as detailed in video. Thanks a lot... Plant a plant for better future..Regards..Arun..An Indian..
Girl you saved my succies for sure with this video!
I’m so glad! Thanks for watching ❤️
Thanks for the information. Looking forward to seeing upcoming videos. Would you also show us your greenhouse and yard?
I sure will! It may be at the end of this month though because I’m in the process of cleaning up the greenhouse and my husband is working on the yard
Thank you! This is just what I needed! I bought 3 succulents and I’m a newby
Well thanks for watching and subscribe if you want more tips! Good luck ❤️
Would love to see a video of your greenhouse..good information..thanks for sharing your talents with us..❤️
Sharon Vanderpool I’m working on that but I first have to get it halfway presentable! Lol
Very helpful instructions. I did not know about the watering of succulents when you repot them. I have a tendency to water everything when I transplant it thinking it will "fix" it. Thank you.
Thank you, and you are so welcome! Thanks for watching!!
Love the cute little pot for the crested plant .
Thank you for this video! Beautiful green house. Perhaps you'll give us a little tour someday!❤
I may just do that!! Thank you so much for watching :)
Omg I've been trying to figure out how to get the soil off the leaves. The nasal aspirator is a great idea!
I can’t take credit, I heard about it in another UA-cam video. I still don’t use one though. Everything seems to dry out pretty quick here
With a straw blowing them or a make up brush

Thank you for good info. My succulents will be much happier as they are being replanted.
Thank you for watching!!
My first time watching one of your videos...good thing I did as I bought 3 cute little succulents today and was going to repot and of course water them! Now I have much more confidence. Thanks! And I love your accent! 💕🇨🇦
Lynne Evaskevich glad to help, and thank you for watching! Lol, yes, I grew up in Arkansas so I guess I have a little bit of an accent :)
Gosh! Thanks for the lesson. I am a total beginner and I found your video very useful. I am looking forward to your next video. Have a Good day. Greetings from United Kingdom.
Thank you so much! I’m glad you learned a lot and I have a new video that I’m hoping to upload this weekend all about soil mixtures! Check out my other ones where I talk about how to propagate, take cuttings, water, etc. Hope you will subscribe ❤️
Really great info! Thank you! 🏃🏻♀️ to watch the rest of your videos!
Love this! I’m reporting several succulents today. Also I’m in Little Rock as well and I have that same shirt! Haha
Wow!! Are you in our Facebook group?? If not, look up “Central Arkansas Cacti & Succulents” !
This video was exactly what I needed, thank you so much 😊. I did subscribe because I like how you show and explain what & why you’re doing it.
10TOES aww thanks for watching and subscribing!! ❤️
Thank you so much for this video. I just got my first two of many succulents that I plan to start and this saved the day. I love love love your greenhouse. I want to get one soon!!!

Your voice is so clear and your tone is great
Nice to find you
Thank you so much! ❤️
Very helpful and informative.
Thank you!! ❤️
You are helping me so much! Thank you for all of your content. A subscriber for sure!!!
Thank you so much!!
@@jolenechase4210 yes if you have some roots you can start some new plants! Plus save the leaves for all the babies ❤️
Thanks for your videos they are great a lot information specially for beginner, 😊

Would like to see your other plants in this potting shed? looks like a little bit of heaven
Marcella Raplee thank you, you are so sweet! ❤️
I loved the video!! very helpful! yay arkansas! Im from the same area as well :D all the humidity is wonderful for plants
Thank you!! You should join the Facebook group “Central Arkansas Cacti & Succulents” if you’re in Arkansas. I run it and we share tips and tricks!
Oh my goodness, I just damaged some roots of a jade plant (pulled them a little) when trying to repot without realizing they were the roots and panicked so hard. It was only a little bit of them so hopefully they're okay. Glad to know it's part of the process, will definitely NOT be watering for a while.
If you just wait a day or two you’ll be fine, jades are hard to kill :)
I always kill the hen and chicks I get, I’m going to try your potting mix and make sure to let it dry if the soil is wet! Thank you for this!!
@@bulei0225 don’t feel bad, I’ve killed a ton. Here where I live you either have to plant them in shade or bring them in during summer. I’m too lazy to bring in so I kill a lot. But now I plant under my azaleas and they like it :)
Great video and I learned a lot. I have a question… yesterday I repotted a jade plant. I followed your instructions to a “T”. This morning I checked on it and the leaves and stems are becoming wilted. I’m not sure what I need to do but I know you have an answer 😀. By the way, I grew up in Camden, Arkansas but moved to Dallas in the ‘70s. I still have family and friends in Hot Springs and Camden. Looking forward to your help/guidance.
