    We had a fun debate here about spending money on products like this. Who do you agree with ? Larisha or Andrew?

      Meat subsidies and the price of meat is so frustrating. It gives people an unrealistic expectation of the cost of food.

    I have heard you both say you have been vegan for around 2 years. Do you have a video about your reasons and transition to becoming vegan? I havent seen one. Your videos are awesome. I binge when I food prep. Thank you 😊

    Minneapolis local here! I’ve not tried their ham or turkey roast but my taste buds have been having a love affair with The Herbivorous Butcher for years. In my opinion, their creations are unique and tastier than anything you can find packaged at Whole Foods, etc. I just wanted to throw that out... if you’re thinking of ordering for shipment, they really do have some delish stuff (the cheeses will make you wonder why cows even bother)
    I also want to say I appreciate the debate on value/cost y’all had during this video. I’m a self-employed single mom of three and fruuuuuuugal but also love love love supporting local businesses. With HB in particular, I find that I use their products almost like a condiment (I couldn’t think of a better way to explain that) to add a little something to what I’m already making. It really packs a punch, and I can stretch it quite awhile.
    You both are adorable. Thanks for putting out this content. ❤️❤️

    There was a sandwich at modern times that was spot on ham. I love the slight seitan smell, it's the nice confirmation it's not meat, when people do a good job mimicking the flavor

    Thanks for the review. I hope ham becomes a more popular (and good-tasting) option in the mock meats world. I've never been into turkey enough to buy a replacement one. But I'd definitely consider a ham.

    • @MakeItDairyFree
      @MakeItDairyFree  3 роки тому +3

      The funny thing is I feel like most non-vegans and even people before vegan all agree that ham is better than turkey so I don't even understand how there aren't way more options LOL

    Hey, I love your videos! Would you guys suggest using either of these to season foods. I miss adding meat to my greens and other meals that usually require some type of smoked meat.

    First, I wanna say I love your style of content. Long form and little editing makes it feel more like I’m pet of the conversation
    Second, I feel I can see both sides of the argument. Thankfully, I’m in a blessed position where I can more easily say ‘f’k it, I’m gonna treat myself’ but because I’ve also been on the other end, I know it’s not a move everyone can make

I typically use Organic Sunflower Hache as a ground beef replacement (ground beef tacos 🌮, spaghetti 🍝, etc), and I'm interested in knowing if this is an ok thing to do. Thank you!

    I enjoyed the tofurky ham. My husband did not like it. It did not come with the glaze. There was a recipe for one on the box. It included crushed pineapple, brown sugar, and mustard.

    love the debate/banter you both keep it real :) i think you are both valid because seitan isn't expensive but ag farming is volume and subsidized and in years to come vegan meat will go down in price when the volumes increase world wide

    • @biowired
      @biowired 3 роки тому +2

      yeah! animal agri operates entirely because of subsidies which are funded by tax payers, it's essentially a false economy cus without subsidies it's way too expensive for both producers and consumers. its fucked up that a mangled corpse of a cow costs less than heart healthy fruit n veggies.....

    As someone who never ate ham growing up due to eating kosher, i still feel weird about even trying vegan ham substitutes 😆 most mock meats are too expensive for me to buy but i do really like soy curls and making mock bbq chicken sandwiches with them.

    Thank you for taste testing. I tried to order on the herbivorous butcher. There website is not easy to navigate and the wording is quite negative. They need a new webmaster. 😉 I will try the tofurkey roast. 🙂

    Thanks for this I’ve been eyeballing this but I am not a big fan of seitan , I failed horribly trying to make a vegan turkey for thanksgiving al that liquid smoke the recipe I followed called for almost killed me 😂😂, but tofurkey hickory slices are now my new fave I was super juiced I could now enjoy a deli style sandwich I’m the person that spends a lot of money on vegan replacements

    If you think about it vegan bacon doesnt taste like regular bacon so maybe vegan ham/pork products are just hard to mimic.

    I agree with both of you regarding the costs of this stuff, but maybe it makes more sense to be choosy and budget when you have 30 choices, as with the vegan turkey-ish roasts? I mean, it's Tofurky or artisanal vegan ham right now. In a few years, there will be more choice, and we can be more choosy. I dream of a day when the base ingredients for vegan products are subsidized _like animal products are_ and that will allow companies to make vegan hams as big as your heads for a lower cost. : ) TFP!
