Look’s a great setup Buck and you are right as long as you’re happy with it that’s all that matters. I think we’re all waiting for the weather to cool down so we can get out camping and traveling again 👍
I 100% agree with you with the portable 2nd battery system. I run the same as you, my daughter goes camping with her friends, she takes my small fridge, battery box and a solar panel. It keeps her drinks cold all week and lights at night. That way she can camp at an un powered site, so cheap for her
Lovely ep and portable set ups. Our set up is much the same, our 2 x 140amp Lithium batteries BMS cut the power at 12,8volts so no need to wake the batteries up to charge.
I am with you, Buck. I keep the back of my Pajero sport simple. I can lift out my engel and lithium battery in my Korr box similar to yours, out when I need to and have room for suitcases when I get visitor. I learnt to make an Anderson plug onto a cable after my Mini caravan anderson plug came off when travelling down to Victoria and smashed on the road. Luckily, it was a monday, and the auto electrician was open.
The only issue I have with the Itechworld battery box is they supply it with a piss-poor voltmeter instead of fitting a Coulometer of appropriate amps. No-one in their right mind puts a lead acid battery in the box, too heavy and yesterday's tech for a battery box application. Only lithium batteries go in these so the coulometer is the only useful meter to have. Maybe you can get Itechworld to make a retrofit kit to change it over. I did that in my battery box so have proper reading on how many AH have been used, what the current draw of the load is, and what the charging amperage is. My DigiMarker 100AH Li battery can only deliver 50Ampa and charge at 50 Amps so I just went with the least expensive 50Amp shunt, but the 120X delivers 175A so a suitably rated shunt needs to be used.
@@Mrbuckaroonie.. I have fired off an email to them outlining this issue and included a photo of the Coulometer I fitted to my battery box (not an Itech one but same shape). I suggested they alter their now boxes and also make up a retrofit kit so people can fix their current boxes :) Let's see what they say, I'll update here if I get a reply.
Hi Buck, why not make an extension lead so that the 12 volt input from BT50 to the 2nd battery setup is on the side of the opening side window so it is easily accessible without climbing into the back of the truck. I know you can make Anderson connections so simple. Fridge slide now more usable.
Maybe he meant 6 B&S? My basic understanding is that 6 AWG is basically the same diameter as 6 B&S. I see you also cut the mesh out of the Engel cover. I did the same because all it does is impede air flow.
Yeah Simon from Lock your Hubs mentioned it in one of his clips that it impedes airflow so I got the stanley knife out. That wire with the Anderson plug on it I showed had 8AWG on it. Whatever that is in B&S I have no idea.
Hi Buck another great video mate, I noticed you have cut out the side mesh on your fridge bag did you notice any benefits by doing it for the fridge. I also have the newer 40L Engel combination with bag apart from the price they are a bloody good fridge.
No 2 Sweet that looks easy to get out,any chance putting wheels on the fridge l am a senior now l shouldn't be lifting heavy stuff. Please don't forget to change the injectors on the BT50 its common for them to blow holes in the pistons if you don't change them at 100000km😑😑
Cant say ive ever seen one of those pickup trucks here in alaska buck very intersting didnt even know mazda made pickup trucks amazing whats available in other countries
Mate my Mazda BT50 is the same vehicle as a Ford Ranger. The Gen 1 and 2 BT50's were Ford Rangers and the Gen 3 BT50 is actually an Isuzu DMAX. Mazda just put their badge on it. Mine has the 3.2Lt Turbo Diesel Engine, same diffs, gearbox etc. Same vehicle mate. Mine is a 5 cylinder. The New Ranger has a V6 Turbo Diesel. We love our diesels here in Oz.
The buggers, mr buck 10 was still working not long ago when I looked, they should have left it that to help the struggling people out a bit especially when you support and plug them all the time
Hey Buck, get the ignition wire connected even with your dumb alternator. I love KISS but without that extra wire hooked up it is going cost you long term. 2 alternators and 2 batterys. Plus being in bumf#ck nowhere when alternator is killed. I can swing spanners and save me $$ and time. Complete buzz kill when happens Setting up another ute atm and going use some of your tips. Going be 3 battery setup this time. Main crank battery, main deep cycle Lithium like you plus 3rd removable Lithium of 100 or 120amp for leaving at camp. Got to love weight of Lithuim for portable set ups. Been running a 200amp plus 100amp for 4years . Much more budget friendly these days compared to 4 years ago. 16mmsquare cable be minimum fir cranking to tub with 40amp dcdc. Your auto sparkie at $500 including labour is budget friendly consider cable, fuse and extras. Any cheaper and be fitting Chinkenese or under gauge wire.
Hello Not watched you for a while as you stopped pooping up on the feed Done a search for you as you were also not on my subscribed list What happened to your old channel?
Love it...."camp the shit out of everything" best comment ever! PS I did wonder what happened to old channel, use to follow it then I didn't know what happened to you, then found this one! LOL Please explain!
Can we please get a new shirt made ! “CAMP THE SHIT OUT OF EVERYTHING” 😂😂😂
I might be onto something mate!!!! lol

Definitely like the advantages of a portal system thaks for revisiting your battery set-up.

@@einfelder8262 Hi there. Did you ever get a response about this?
@@hapidaze No, total silence :)
Great vid. Really informative. Appreciated. Do you have winch/UHF still connected to your engine crank battery?
Yes.
Great vid buck thanks mate great set up 👍🏻
Looks like a great set up

I actually asked the auto elec to do that mate. Yeah will make my own. Just got to get the same short length of cable.
Maybe he meant 6 B&S?

@Mrbuckaroonie.. we don't get Isuzu d max or Ford rangers here either buck most popular here would have to be a ram or a f150
Rams are very popular down here mate but the price is ridiculous. @@gypsyjoker30

Great informative video 💯🇦🇺
Thanks mate. Hope it helps someone out.
