Today was my first day orientating on the floor. My preceptor was charge so she couldn’t teach me. So I shadowed another nurse who didn’t show me anything or explain anything. I’m so scared to go back!!!!
Hi , thanks for sharing such very important information. I also want to work in ICU as RN to qualify for CRNA school. I graduate in December 2024 and currently I work part time in medical ICU some times Neuro and trauma ICU as patient care technician. I had also preceptorship in cardiac ICU. I would be so pleased if you provide me the steps to follow to apply for ICU jobs as a new grad RN. If you can, would you also mention the names of hospitals that you recommend for the best ICU experience? I am happy to share my email if that sounds good to you. Thanks again
Hello, congratulations in advance! As far as steps for applying to work in the ICU it is usually the same for most places. You search for a RN position or new grad residency for critical care under the careers tab of the hospital’s website. I recommend teaching hospitals as a new nurse. If you don’t know whether a hospital is a teaching facility then I suggest asking the recruiter or ask during the interview.
@@nursebaebritt thanks for answering my question. But I heard that some hospitals hire new grads and some not for ICU jobs. I would love to know the hospitals that hire new grads for ICU. Thanks again 🙏
That is true some places. I can’t give you an accurate list of all the hospitals that hire new grads in their ICU because not only have I not worked at every hospital but sometimes hiring practices also change. I would suggest doing some research on the hospitals in your area. You could always reach out to a recruiter as well. When in doubt, just apply.
Great tips ! Thank you.
Can you do a vid on personality traits that you think would be beat suited for the ICU?
Sure!

I start as a new grad nurse in neuro icu next month and this video was very helpful! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video. Thank you.

Sometimes you may not always be with your assigned preceptor. My suggestion is to ask lots of questions and go back to your preceptor and ask as well
Beautiful! 🥰❤️
