Source port for playing: CrispyDoom 5.8.0. The gameplay is identical with the original Doom v1.9 (DOS), meaning the demo file plays back perfectly in the original Doom.
For this run, I have better monitor, computer and key setups for the tricks than what was used in the previous run by me in 17:55. I upgraded monitor from 60hz to 240hz and capped (35FPS) to uncapped (1300+ FPS). Lastly, instead of using mouse to produce Strafe50, I used keyboard which helped a lot with the tricks. If you try to get Strafe50 with mouse for the tricks, sometimes you only get something like Strafe50, strafe48, strafe46, strafe 44, Strafe42 or strafe40, which could ruin a setup for a trick, but with keyboard it is always Strafe40 or Strafe50 as the movement is not so smooth. - Ігри

Check map14... sadly it failed once but still fine as it was 19 seconds. Could have been around 14-15 seconds. Probably my biggest mistake in the run.

Interestingly, it is more impressive to complete a map slowly on nightmare than "semi-fast speedrun" of the same map on nightmare, because the hp/armor doesnt respawn, while the monsters do.

Never mind figured out it was strafe mode and then you w+d and mouse movement for more acceleration.
I listen to the UT99 OST while driving sometimes! It's a really good soundtrack. I use my mouse for SR50, I'll have to try with keys. Amazing run, gratz dude.
I use a mouse for S50, too :-) and yeah, UT has some good tracks.

UT'99 soundtrack is insane.
How do you hit the underhalls glide under so much pressure with all the monsters behind you?? I try to replicate this run but I always die at underhalls glide. I can hit the glide after all the monsters are dead otherwise I can’t pull it off in time. Any trick to pulling off the glide quicker or is it just a matter of practice and experience

I don't get how this wallrun in map 14 is done (around 8:25). Seems like vertical mouse movement to 'wobble' around (to gain speed i suppose?). Have tried it for like an hour, but it doesn't work... this route is very interesting because the rocket jump is pretty risky...
Very awesome run man, I have been playing DOOM for so long but had never really seen a speedrun of it, is RNG critical to your runs? Also would you ever do a run of Plutonia? If you haven't already, anyways great run 👍
There's a lot of RNG in doom speedrunning. For example, a revenant missile can deal 10, 20, 30... 80 damage and it can be a normal missile or a homing. I'm not really into Plutonia, but never say never.
@@mittarimato8994 interesting, I never knew about the revenants rockets having varying damage, is it the same for enemies like the mancubus and cyber demon? Thanks for the reply.
@@gianpyres3 Yeah. cyber demon's rocket deals 20, 40, 60.... or 160 direct hit damage + additional 0-128 splash damage. Mancubus fireball deals 8, 16, 24.... or 64 damage. Usually there's 8-fold damage range, which is crazy.

It sounds very possible, but need to find a couple more improvements to the route.

@@hfc2x It's always possible, but too risky at the moment. There are things that are less risky and save about the same amount of time. It just gets so tough to get everything in one run

About 12:06. Moving sideward through the tight gap is obviously more effective, than forward. :)
The glide is done here sideways, because mouse strafing can only produce "Strafe Left 2" commands at minimum, so when the mouse register any movement, it is the best possible movement. If you face the gap directly forwards, your mouse can produce "Move Forward 1" commands, along with MF2. MF1 is unwanted, as it does not even move the player.
Which part is the riskiest? That squeeze in Nirvana looks like one.

Yeah, if he hadn't fucked up some of those exit doors, I wonder if he could've gotten like maybe 1 or 2 seconds faster? Because I know in speedrunning, 1 or 2 seconds faster is HUGE! (I am new to DOOM II speedrunning)

@@thereisacow1337 They take quite a bit of time to make, and every time you spend a lot of time on a run, 1 month later it is already obsoleted, meaning the time spent is gone.

When i do it i cant switch to another weapon, only fists =(
You can press "3" while the weapon is lowering, then it will switch to the shotgun. Unless you use source port that changes the behaviour, which may or may not be changed from the options.

@@chibis8423 pick the berserk and after that hit the number(weapon) you want. You cannot change back to the same weapon, though

You have to move super slow near those gaps, and have the original Doom behaviour.

Probably a stupid question but what if one just tried to copy exactly the timing of keys you press since start till end.. somehow if one just edited this video focusing solely on keystrokes for each level and tried to do the same as you wouldnt it then come down to more luck for them to make better time? I mean if it isnt too much of exposure for you using that on screen keyboard app on streams/videos.. 😅

You can turn for the first frame while the game is still loading. It's called quick start

@@mittarimato8994 In the in-game menu, you can also change horizontal vertical and strafe sensitivity. Should I have all of these set to 1?
@@oregano3312 They are the same settings as far as I know, just a bit different names. Speed (h/strafe) means Speed horizontal strafeing = strafe sensitivity. Speed (v) means speed vertical = vertical sensitivity.

Can someone explain me how to do the f*king trick on map 14
You gotta be as close to the wall as possible, which is not easy. You need to use vertical mouse movement to leave no tiny gap between the player and the wall. Once that is completed, it allows you to wallrun east midair. That alone is not enough to make the jump: you need to know which direction to look at while holding strafe50, which let's you clear the gap. If you try to run too fast for the trick, you will lose all your speed. If you try to move too slow, you do not have enough speed.
Great speedrun! I just don't get how the player can squeeze past some straits that normally require to be unlocked. E.g. Underhalls & Nirvana maps.I thought it was not possible without using cheat codes.
It is possible without cheats, but those are very precise tricks!
The gap in underhalls is the exact width of doomguy. With precise movement, he cqn squeeze through.

Its amazing how much of DOOM maps are just filler. I only have to complete the game in under 2 hours for the achievement..I'm sure I can do it even without the parkour and acrobatics used in this video. Good run BTW.
