    Big price rises from this year for entry fees to the Masai Mara(split into 2 'seasons'). USD$200 per person per day in high season 1 July - 31 December when the migration is. That equals $600 Australian per day for the 2 of us just to enter. For a couple from South Africa, that's around R7,400 per day. That's before you add in transport, accommodation, safari's etc.

    Hi there.. great video again 👏👏👏
    In June 2025 we are planning to track gorillas in Uganda followed by a stay at Serolo in Tuli wilderness.. and then planning to do either tuli, Mashatu or Mashatu tented camp for 4 days. We love our photography and want to do the awesome looking hide..so that’s where the priority is. This year is booked for Tanzania for the crater.. migration.. ruaha.. Nyerere in September… any advice please… got to book very soon as everywhere is filling up 😮

      Alison, contact Lance van de Vyver of Panthera Photo Safaris and ask him to help you with your Botswana/Mashatu booking: info@pantheraphotosafaris.com - he is literally on his way to track gorillas next week and also knows Mashatu backwards 👍🏻

    Thank you. Going in end Aug. Cannot wait. How did you handle camera gear and clothes for the small planes? Which lenses did you take and which did you wish you had/had not?

    • @TheSafariExpert
      @TheSafariExpert  4 місяці тому +2

      William, I know it sounds obvious, but the key is to pack as light as you can! Don't take too many clothes (most of the lodges will do washing for you) and leave any gear you don't think you'll use at home. I predominantly used my Canon R6 with a 100-500mm lens, but I also took a 24-105mm with as well. I didn't take a tripod, bean bag or any other unnecessary equipment with.

      @@TheSafariExpert thanks for the reply. if you had a 400 f/2.8 would that have been in the bag?

    • @TheSafariExpert
      @TheSafariExpert  4 місяці тому +3

      @@williamryan3254, sure, but always keep in mind that you have to 1) park in the optimal position for that focal length and 2) don’t always shoot at f/2.8!!! I can’t over-emphasize this enough. Remember, the closer you are to your subject, the shallower the depth of field is.

      @@TheSafariExpert Absolutely agree, and it's also important to consider the equipment other photographers in the group are using. If everyone else has the flexibility to zoom in and out, having a fixed lens might put you at a disadvantage, especially if the wildlife isn't ideally positioned for your specific focal length.
