Beautiful library and inspiring track. Good to see you in action again Dan.
always a great day when i see a new DKM video ready for consumption leading to inspiration and absorption! Thanks always to you, DK, for sharing your world and ideas with us!
Stunning piece.
Gorgeous piece Dan, reminds me of the ‘Interstellar’ score (particularly cornfield chase and the end of the main theme) in places with the atmospheric background contrasted against driving momentum. Definitely took me on a lovely journey this evening, thank you for sharing this piece and for giving us such a detailed walk through of it. So good to see new videos from you, you’ve been missed!
Feels good to be back! Thanks for watching :)
Totally agree, Section 4 is SO BEAUTIFUL❤I also learned about Spotlight Piano, it just made into my wishlist...! Very inspiring, thanks for that :)
Amazing instrument and composition!!
That's really a wonderful piece Dan! Absolutely love it! It really shows what is possible with just the Spotlight Piano alone. Thank you for all of the great tips!
Dan, the effort you put into creating nuanced and evolving textures is wonderful. Inspirational. Thank you for this.
Thank YOU for the kind comment!
@@DanKeenMusic you should also start giving the mi di mockup file if its possible especially with LABS library videos to understand the how to play on different presets etc.
What a great piece of music. Sometimes simple = better.
Absolute amazing piece Dan. Love the insights into your thought process. I’m sure we will see you compose for some big films in the future. Oscar one day… 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The Oscar Has arrived ;)
Beautiful composition Dan and a great walk through on the new Spotlight Piano library!
man, what a great library
awesome vid Dan!
Thanks, Dan
Beautiful piece Dan ! your a prodigy, keep your great work on point ! I hope the best ;)
Beautiful piece!!!
Beautiful Music!
Vraiment magnifique, bravo merci pour tes conseils très inspirants
Saturated to buggery! I mean if you are going to saturate something then why be subtle? Great video Dan. Fracture Sounds make some of the best pianos for emotive music. I’m sure I’ll have to pick this one up at some point.
An acoustics professor used to love saying that pop music is “compressed to buggery” 😅
Nice!
Cool video, Dan. How you make your sine bass at 6:10, is there a video where you make it?
Yes! ua-cam.com/video/NkavOA-RYrE/v-deo.html
"Cinematic" is a word that is thrown around a lot in the VSTi world. How would you define it?
I think “cinematic” implies a sense of scale that could take well to enhancing the emotion, drama or tension in film, tv or games music. How would you define it?
If you can do it with only a piano then I guess it's possible for me to do it with only violin and flute
...Can I write a score without piano?
A nice video but I think this music is a perfect candidate for AI composition.
Ouch 😅 What would make you say that?
@@DanKeenMusic The broken chord arpeggiated motifs mixed with the somewhat prophetic drops, and a general lack of surprise or shift in either the harmonic language or the melodic content makes for easy pickings. It's just the way cinematic (piano) music has evolved since James Newton/Randy Newman etc exploited these concepts which is quite a while ago now. Every advert using piano is doing the same because the sequences and chord changes are tried and trusted but predictable. (Not unlike Vivaldi's circle of 5ths kind of thing). It's not a criticism as I enjoyed it.
One thing I wonder though: does AI have to generate MIDI *and* the samples it performs that MIDI through? Because I think samples like these definitely require some human thought to know how to place them together correctly 🤔
@@DanKeenMusic The samples will always be difficult because of the 44100 for just one, however there seems to be a move now where packets of it can be not just manipulated but formulated. Midi is much easier and I would bet my last euro someone is already pocketing cash from selling midi AI. That process would be easier to AI than Landr or Ozone. I've heard some of the orchestral AI mockups and whilst I'm not impressed, all agree that production music will not survive this AI tide.
