      @@carlajacobs2464 There's nothing wrong with adding somethin' new or different to a cover - it adds its own flare that sets it apart from the original. Can Frank Sinatra top or replicate George Harrison's original arrangment and the Beatle's vocal harmonies? Of course not, but Sinatra still gave it a go, and I think it's quite endearing that he adds, "Jack", as it fits his style. Also, he seems quite older here so I don't think his voice would be able to give the EXACT soul and oomph he'd probably would've, if he was younger.

  • @BrobleYT
    @BrobleYT 4 роки тому +77

    I find it funny at the beginning when Frank’s introducing the track and drops George Harrison’s name, you can only hear a handful of claps. I imagine most people in that hall in their heads saying, “We made a night out of seeing the Chairman of the Board, Ol’ Blue Eyes. Why is he playing this hippy shit?” And after the song’s over the entire place erupts into applause, because of course good music crosses cultural boundaries, something Frank obviously knew very well. I hope they learned that from Frank that night.

      Some people might find a little odd your statement but get it perfectly. Sinatra wasn’t just a singer. His technicality in the recorded voice is a standard for a lot of today’s singers. Perhaps he didn’t have 4 octaves of range like Freddie Mercury, or the theatricality of Elvis, but he was a voice virtuoso, from the breath control to the resonance of his timber. He didn’t just grabbed a random mic and started singing. He revolutionized the recorded voice methods, searching always for the best sound fidelity, investing in the best recording studios to reproduce his voice on vinyl, and always with the best instrumental arrangers.

    A signature twist to a classic song. I never knew he covered George's song. This is fresh to my ears. ❤
    I did a cover of Something as well. Im no George or Sinatra - not even close - but hope someone here enjoys it! ❤

    "The best love song but it doesnt even say I love you!!" Iconic acknoledgment. Frank s version is so classy. It made me dream of having a nice dinner on the top of a fabulous building in NYC with the love of my life. So romantic on a summer starry night.

    In my opinion ,Frank did the best cover of Something 👍
    Despite some claims that the Beatles and Sinatra didn't get along ,gradually they warmed to one another.
    Ringo asked Frank to record a song for his wife in 1968 because she was a big fan. It was a change in lyrics to The Lady is A Tramp , to Champ and referenced Ringo in lyrics as well.
    It is considered the rarest recording of all time

    My Mom just passed away 6 days ago. My DD 33 yrs ago and Sinatra was his guy. This is the one song DD would not dance with other than Mom. I can still hear my Dad singing this to Mom. Sinatra paid George Harrison a great compliment about this song. I was lucky to see Sinatra in concert with my parents. One of the most emotional experiences I have had. All I can think of is Mom and Dad are dancing to this now. I have to believe it. This version will forever hold a special place in my heart😢❤
