- Hiya! Here is a Hot Wave Interview with MALICE MIZER from 1996, about their new single 麗しき仮面の招待状 / Uruwashiki kamen no shotaijou and the upcoming Voyage sans retour album.
I have edited the original mpeg TV file and removed all noise, made it sharper, and made it overal much better quality, even though it is still very unclear. Well yeah, that's a TV recording for ya.

this is seriously the funniest interview of their’s... gackt talking a lot, communicating through his eyebrows, the awkwardness, mana speaking, mana claiming he was from France, kami heard laughing in the background, all of them just bs-ing interviews as they usually did 💀

The rest of the band can't hold their laughter and you can see how Gackt was trying so hard not to burst out laughing from giving bs answers like at 3:25 when he said that the album cover was Mana's garden, he covers his face laughing when the interviewer believed him LOL

I love this interview! Highlights have to be Mana speaking, Gackt speaking for Mana, the whole band trying not to break into laughter at different times and Gackt's fabulous eyebrows.

Lol! He slurred out his introduction like he realized he messed up halfway, gotta love it. Maybe Mana doesn't talk because he's socially awkward, and is afraid of losing his "cool" in front of his fans?
I think he doesn't want to break away from his mysterious persona and acting like a living doll. He's also very shy and may very well be socially awkward IRL. Or, as he says, he wants his music to speak for him.
he has actually stated in many written interviews that he has social anxiety and he hoped that malice mizer/moi dix mois would help him get better at socialising! he even expressed in an interview that he wanted to try and make more friends as well

I think Mana (and Közi to some point) Is the kind who doesnt really enjoy speaking to shallow people. They all seem like that when I think of it, Gackt hates idiots for example… the only one who dont seem to mind it is Kami, he seemed so cute and bubbly for a Rock/metal dude ❤️

It must have been interesting being young during the Visual Kei movement. Getting up on stage in avant garde clothing representing confusion, anger, sadness, through the movement at the world. The entire experience must have been interesting to express yourself that way. You can tell that they just wanted to make music, it’s serious, also careless, and humorous at the same time. I can really understand that, like who cares, we’re all going to die one day.
