He just needs to be set free and given the opportunity. Pops wasn’t giving it to him in San Antonio. Now, he’s unleashed with the raptors. Firstly! This hype vid was mad spectacular!
Not gonna get it twisted.. Been a spurs fan for over 20 years. RC & Pop identified Kawhi in the 2011 draft and traded george hill (someone who they loved and developed over the years) and a pick to get him on draft night..Kawhi came into the league as an elite rebounder and a decent defensive player. Pop and 3 HOF's helped Kawhi learn how to be a constant NBA professional, by coming in day in & day out; working on his craft each and every day. They started off with helping him become one of the best one on one wing defenders and defending without fouling (something Pop been teaching last 20 years..watch danny and kawhi defend at all times without fouling..). They then used the greatest shooting coach aka Chip Engelland to develop his shot (never had a consistent jumpshot when he came into the league couldn't consistently shoot well..at his peak in 2017 was basically 40-50-90 club member). Taught him to put the team first and win with the team rather than individual accolades (something Tim duncan did for decades). He became the face in 2017 and Pop called him the greatest two way player in basketball, they transitioned him slowly into becoming an elite player and worked on all his flaws until he had none. Weather they messed up the injury situation or not, or weather he wants to be in LA; bottomline is HE can and WILL make the decision that's best for him and his family. He is his own man so he can do what he wants without being influenced by other's opinions. I always support Kawhi because of his demeanor and willingness to win and become an all time great. He doesn't showboat and plays the right way all the time. He gave us everything he had in 2014 and helped Tim win his 5th ring. I'll always be a Kawhi supporter even if i root for the SPURS. Him and Danny took the corporate knowledge they learned in san antonio and clearly are applying it all in Toronto. I pray he stays healthy and whoops the warriors just as he was doing in 2017 before he got injured. Oh and btw..FINALS Kawhi just different different..wait and see :) The Night King is coming..

I have been a huge Spurs fan for quite some time that has lived his whole life in the Bay Area. It's bittersweet the ending that we got with Kawhi and I thought I would hate him, but you just can't hate a guy with that much talent for the game. I respect him to this day and I hope he goes and gets another ring this year!

To all those who said that Toronto just got lucky. Does that also mean GSW were lucky when Pachulia injured Kawhi?
and when they won against injury plagued Cavaliers in 2015?
Although it is true that no one can predict injuries but here's the thing. Scientifically there is a huge correlation between the average number of minutes played and possibility of getting injured. GSW got greedy and maxed out their superstar's playing time during the regular season while the Raptors tried to play their rotation and limit Kawhi's time to recover from injuries and prepare for playoffs. It was a very huge gamble but definitely paid off. It was a game strategy!
If you wan't to cry about the injuries, blame it to the GSW management. They've been consistently playing in the finals for 5 straight years yet they never give their players time to recover on injuries. They became greedy and so this happened!
Player's health is part of the game and Toronto Raptors was the better Team this year! Nuff said. no more excuses!
