- Alaska's biggest parade is our Golden Days Parade here in Fairbanks. This year we were invited to walk the parade and pass out candy to the spectators! Our family has been in the parade many times, but we have never handed out candy, it was so much fun! Afterward, we went to the festival downtown, come join us!

Our Golden Days parade is usually around the beginning of our rainy season. It never seems to rain on the parade though 😉

Awww, you were at the parade! Yes you should watch more, LOL. I have been talking about you a lot lately, we all need to get together.
I've been in temperatures of around 120F several times, but the hottest and thirstiest I've ever felt was probably when it was around 80F near Denali National Park.
Isn’t it crazy? We saw someone (a tourist) pass out walking down the street last week. He had a black parka on. I sometimes don’t realize how hot I get anymore, and I start to get nauseous and headachey. You just don’t think it would be the heat, but it is.
They line the state flags like that at Mt Rushmore. It’s really neat. 😊

Hello Bears 🐻🐻🐻 Wow, 46 degrees in the morning already ... that's a bit chilly. So cool that you and Mary were in the parade this year ... looked like a fun day. Hubby was looking for Maryland's flag when you were on the bridge, but we did not see it, but sure it's there. Hope you are having a great weekend ... saw your Instagram, looked like a beautiful drive. We did nothing today, except Hubby ran a few errands. I have been really sick today 😢 so I watched videos and slept. Have fun 💜💜💜
Hi there! We got down to 39 a couple of weeks ago, my hanging baskets are pretty dead. We went from crazy hot and dry to cold and rain, the plants are mad this year. I will have to take a good look at some of those flags, I know a few states changed them recently. We are having an amazing weekend, thank you, the weather was much better than expected. I hope you are feeling much better today, there have been so many good recalls lately, it’s getting scary. Be careful 🥰

Catching up on the last two videos. Golden Days, along with all the other events, was always a fun summer time activity every year, especially the midnight golf. Is hiding the gold in Alaska Land something new? I don’t remember that years ago.
How did you get invited to be in the parade, does Mary works for Carlile?
Yes, that is an interesting fact about the sun being closer up there, we learned that back in grade school. Gosh that was a long time ago. I sure hope you had sunblock on.
Those puppies were so cute. The snakes, not so much.
A lot of the downtown has changed since I lived there, it looks much nicer, glad they fixed it up.

I loved the mini golf course they had years ago. The one they have now is so generic. I am not sure how long the chamber has been doing the poke of gold. It seems they weren’t doing it when I moved here, it started later on. I will ask when we go over there. My oldest daughter Faith works for Carlile, she invited us. I loved the puppies, the lady had them brought in from Norway, I believe. I don’t mind snakes, but that lady was carrying them around all jumbled up in a clear bag, they didn’t look happy. Our mayor is doing a beautification project, it’s working really well, everything is getting spruced up all at once. I love it! Thank you, I hope you are having a great weekend too! 🥰

The University always has something going on. I miss having Mary up there, it gave me an excuse to go. I met someone at the parade that was here for a 50 year alumni reunion.
Oh dear I wanna know how many steps you guys did that day! 😅
I am pretty sure that week and the week before I averaged about 18,000 steps a day.
Hey 🐻 Alaska have so more beautiful art and crafts I wish they had websites sites for them and we can order some for Louisiana
I have been trying to put the QR codes to websites for some of the vendors that ship. We really do have some talented artists here.
48 looks like a modern version of an old SUSV we used to use. Next time, get the Reservists to stand still and hold the Flag up so I can read what their unit is. LOLs! They don't even wear black boots anymore. With all the technology we have in modern times we still can't get reliable weather forecasts. To me, it still comes down to that poor ground hog they pull out of the ground that forecasts the coming winter. I trust that poor ground hog more than I do the technology. And Mary is right about the earth. That is what we were told as to the sun's angle and how it affects the temps there in Fairbanks and North Pole. That is the beauty of the outdoor markets sherri, there were some really good food vendors and cooks that barbecued the best food I've had to date. That was the old visitor center? I don't remember it here unless its had a complete makeover. Perhaps you should take down 'Comifornia's flag from the bridge. Its looks so beautiful there Sherri.
Oh good idea on the reservists, I am sure they love the recognition. The weather here has always been strange, all those systems have to come around the mountains, you never know what’s gonna happen in the upper atmosphere. It was a nice day though. We love all the choices with these fairs, the hand made crafts and all the food, for sure. The visitor center did get a makeover, I believe it used to be those black logs. Our little town is looking a lot better than years ago for sure.

My oldest daughter works for Carlile. The Carlisle in PA is something different.
