    Questions:
Who pays for the mods to the fourbies? I.e the new Dmax
DO you let your parters drive your toys? Will we ever see Shauno grab the holy shit bar in the 30 if his partner is driving in the glasshouse during an episode? (If an episode airs of the boys with their partners or family on a trip that'll be cool)
Can you do a LIVE VIDEO on your social media's of cleaning your fourbies after a full muddy trip. No editing nothing just straight up tips and tricks on how to clean underbody, engine, inside etc?

I swapped my entire front IFS setup at once.
    -Lower control arms/ bushings
    -Upper control arms/ bushings
    -Shocks/ Springs (OME)
    -Tie rod ends
    -Camber bolts
    -Probably more I cant remember
Point is, I got it all back together, then spent weeks fine tuning.
Change one or two things at a time, then go drive around. Doing too much at once on a rig is a headache, especially if you're a rookie like me.
Thanks from across the pond, for the great videos guys.

We bought a 2010 Pajero about 6 months ago. It's our family's daily driver, and we do heaps of camping trips in it. When we first got it, I was worried it wasn't a 'proper 4WD'.. as we've previously owned a Hilux, Navara, and an 80 series we took around Australia. Now, we absolutely love the Pajero! We've done some pretty gnarly tracks, following mates in beefed up Patrols n cruisers etc, and its performance has been just awesome. I'm blown away at where this stock as a rock little beast can go. Super comfy daily driver and very capable off road. The wife n kids love it, and I'm totally falling in love with it to. In the process of doing a few sensible mods on her now (2" lift, snorkel, roof rack, awning, spotties, bullbar +winch and dual battery system).. team Pajero 🙂👍

I have never owned a Pajero, but I also never understood why people don't rate them off-road. Seen plenty in action and they easily get it done, while the owners are cruising around in way more comfort than most of us. Then they drive home on the highway in quiet comfort.
I think maybe those Pajero people are the ones that have it all figured out.

i dont know about worst mistake or best mod. but the best advice i was givin by a good mate of my fathers who has been 4wding for over 30 years was: its ok to have a go, but if you dont feel ready for it, turn around and try again another day. theres always more glory to be had in trying again later then breaking/rolling a vechile. second piece of advice he gave me was: diff locks and a winch are there to get you out of trouble not in it, be mindful of where your going before you engage them.

Good advice. Years ago, I owned a Series III Land Rover diesel. It was noisy and slow and I loved it.
After moving up into the mountains, I was driving in snow and ice in the winter and a lot of mud and slush at other times.
I fitted secondhand Salisbury diffs and locks. For around 4K, including the purchase, I had a vehicle that did everything I wanted.

I bought a brand new Wrangler JK 3 years ago. I fell in love with it because the private dealer had put 33" tyres, AEV wheels, AEV bumper and WILD grill on it. I insisted I wanted a 4" lift before I took it home but the dealer (surprisingly) told me to go and have fun and then come back if I wanted any extras.
All I've done since is fit new lights and a Warn winch and it still astounds me what this thing goes through mainly thanks to the amazing tyres.

One of the many mistakes I made was one time I went out driving through puddles in my previous 4wd. I was on my own. It was a manual 2.5l turbo diesel '99 Ford Courier Dual cab ute. As I drove around I found a dirt road with thick bush that had heaps of puddles. I think you all know where this is going. Well... I came across a rather large one and thought to myself "that'll be fun". Anyway, flawed it in, water came over the bonnet and up the windscreen followed by a massive thud as I hit my front bash plates on what I thought was a shallow puddle. Had a quick look around and my ute was mostly under on one side with half my engine submerged. No water got in the engine but I had to get a tow truck out to drag me up the bank of this creek. I wish I could say I learned my lesson from this adventure but I have made equally dumb mistakes since. I forgot to mention, 4wd didn't work (transfer case chain) and I didn't have a snorkel.

A mistake I made was a mate and I went out just out 4wding just after it rained the mud would have been 2 foot deep in old rodeo with Bald tires and 2004 Ford Focus. Ended up getting both bogged to the chassis and took forever to get out but some of the best fun we ever had. In saying that the first mod I’d do to any 4wd would be putting a long handled shovel in or on it. Saved us that day and a million other times as well

my biggest fail, detailing engine bay. GQ SWB Patrol. TD42 with 232,000 ish km. Excellent service history, left it at idle..... there was an unknown split in snorkel filter to main air filter, after I finished, jumped in and raised the revs to put it in the garage it sucked the water in and bent no4 rod. 1,2,3,5,6 402 psi compression No 4 went down to 120 psi. 5K repair/rebuild

I have taken a brand new Stock Nissan Patrol up to Cape York for a 2-week trip with my family a few years ago...I did not even lower my tire pressure since I was such a novice
what a great time it was...had one puncture and a tented driver door ( from fooling around) other than that no issues what so ever...
therefore as graham says go out there and have a great time you never know when or if you are ever doing it again...for me, it was one of my best memories of owning this Car...

Less power = more traction. Simple. I had a '65 LR Series 2A and I outran modern 4x4's on the tougher trails, simply because it had good articulation and zero power. The 2.25 Petrol 4cyl made a whopping 55kw when it left the factory :) Taught me A LOT about wheeling

I couldn’t agree more with jocks comment. I think that way every time a see a 79 series with the 4495kg gvm upgrade that replaces half the chassis and costs nearly $50k. If you have to go to that extreme to make the car fit for purpose you bought the wrong car.

We called them Samurais here but I too started there. Flipped the suspension to the top of the axles and it took 10.5x31s. Lockers would have made it unstoppable. I wish I still had it. Only vehicle I ever drafted in. Since the lifted ones were useless on the highway, one guy put a bigger engine in his and could go 65 mph so he would lead and the rest of us would draft two feet off the bumper of the vehicle in front so we could go that fast on the highway. It required paying attention.

I just took a trip myself that I was scared of taking originally and I kept putting it off and putting it off. I’ve spent the last 2 years building it and I still felt scared, but I did it anyways and holy heck. What a trip. I trusted my rig and it did fantastic. I agree with mistake number 2

  • @clancyparsons9705
    @clancyparsons9705 4 роки тому

What you guys said about not waiting to have a " fully setup rig " to get out and about in before you go could not have been more right .
I bought into it and was waiting to get my ride all set up to go ... but then thought let's see what a basically stock petrol 80 has . I had put a snorkel and diff breathers on it and had a compressor to do my tyres . Took up an invite for a day in the high country around walhalla and went along as a beginner. That day we tackled some of the tougher tracks in the area did multiple river crossings ( the first went over the hood and the snorkel paid for itself in the first 10 minutes after airing down lol) but other than that , the old 80 went everywhere with no mods on stock rims and all terrains . Showed me I didn't need to wait for all the fruit to just get out amongst it . Still building the old rig up but am also out there in between upgrades .
There are a lot of myths about what you need to get out there . My advice now is to get out there and have a crack .

The one thing i regret is taking my rear sway bar out.gen2 pagero. yes I got more flex without restriction but I towed a lot of trailers on the road and could barely keep it in a straight line to the point it would drift from the outside line to the inside line frequently at 90kmph in the ruts of the road.
