The fact you're from Canada and growing a palm tree outside in the winter is probably the first time someone has done that. I'm from MN I never knew this could work.
Do you usually end up putting heat cable in the ground for Mexican fan palms? If so could you make a video on how to do it? I'm really scared of roots freezing in the winter because I'm not sure if the Christmas lights are enough. btw love your videos!

I’m in Minnesota 5a I have to many palms and want to put my washingtonia /2 windmills in the ground. My sabal minors survived 3 winters now in ground. This is very inspirational 🤘🏼
Nice work. Can you go into more detail on how you did the pegs to keep the box anchored to the ground? I’m currently growing in a similar zone as you in Logan, Utah.
what you can do in the future is build a massive shead that has almost a greenhouse effect of glass or an opening at the top that can be covered during the winter and opened for susnhine... u can be innovative, even make it sealable...
I’m trying to grow palms in Kaysville Utah. In your box do you water them at all in the winter or just let them stay completely dry? Also are you supposed to open them up for venting regularly or can you leave them closed all winter? And list of all do you not need any burlap on them? Just the box and the Christmas lights right?
Yes just the box and Christmas lights no burlap is needed you want to keep the leafs away from the outside of the box you can use string or a bungee cord works perfect and no watering is required through the winter
I can’t grow palm trees in the ground in my area, They always need to stay in a pot or a giant pot when they’re bigger and they still grow and do really well
Ya buddy that’s ok I was there for a while this winter. I had to get my kids back to school. It should be getting better here soon. But if not that’s ok I am going to Southern California soon for a few weeks so I will get a nice hot spring there filled with beautiful palms
I think your Ontarios official palm wizard. Never thought it was true . post more on this just subbed and you deserve lots more!. thanks.
@@rockerdad2 wow thanks for your nice comment I appreciate it

How to grow a palm tree anywhere in the world 🌎 🌴
Yay its starting to get warmer here, can’t wait for spring 😁🌴
Thanks man great vid. Picking up my Washingtonia robustas tomorrow
Looks awesome, James! Definitely something to be proud of!
Thanks so much buddy
I feel the art of zone pushing is like keeping a nice grass lawn, heaps of maintenance, but if done right, its beautiful.
Yeah for sure

Do you think solar powered Christmas led lights work or would they not produce enough heat

Looks good 👍🏻 🌴
Thanks bro
Woah the trunk is really getting huge, It’s doing amazing
I sent a couple pics when I was in Florida last weekend. I think one was a stately Bismark, other was a random volunteer
Awesome
James so no more thermo cube?? Are lights on all day night?
Ya that’s right
Great job, looking extremely good.
Thanks buddy
Have you also thought of growing Washingtonia Filifera?
Yes I have thought about it we have a lot of humidity here I’m not sure how they will do I will probably try some one day soon
I was wondering after it's a certain height/age will it be able to survive without protection in your area?
No one fortunately I do not think so much too cold here
Excellent!
Thanks
How wide would the tree trunk get on that plam 😅

Ya buddy I can make a video for you about that

Does the palm tree not need light in the box? When you close it, is it dark?
Yes, no light is required pitch black inside there all winter long and they come out beautiful
Looks awesome man
Thank you 😊
Wow that’s so cool !
question, i just bought a 3 gallon sabal minor from a shop in northest ohio, and im in zone 6a. any tips on how to protect it for next winter?
Ya I would plant it in the spring and do the same thing as I do with this one and it should be good
Thank you ,I asked while watching.
Thanks buddy
Great job bro!
Thanks brother again for your help
@@TheJames2929 Anytime bro!!
how old is that tree?
Around 5 to 6 years old
If a Mexican fan palm grew up to 100 feet tall they would really start to tip over or lean far over because the trunk would be really long

Yeah for sure that’s a great way to keep Palm‘s growing
You should have stayed in Florida, James ;)
Kind of a crappy start to March :/
