I met and worked with John in the mid to late 80's (not worked as in his occult and esoteric interests) he and I started doing things at an unemployed center, screen printing and photography, then after that at a book renovation scheme. I can say with my hand on my heart that John always had an interesting story to tell! A really intelligent and engaging person, I wish we had stayed in contact! John if you read this, this is Frank/Paul from John Marley Center. Hope you are doing well.

I keep coming back to this. John has such great knowledge & appreciation of this genre. I'd love to see him do another interview. Please don't take this down R.B/John- Mark Gattiss will only get stronger!

Wow. Stavbmental. Gorgeous collection of books. A real love of these works with no pretensions.I started getting into C93 / industrial subculture in 1990 when I was living in Israel at the tender age of 15 and have loved the music since. Thanks for this !

I didn't know who John was when I stumbled upon this video, but watching this was a joy. Apparently he's an author? I bet I could learn a lot from talking to this guy.

For anyone who is interested in the lady artist who was in love with the Kaiser as mentioned towards the end of this interview, her name was Aloise Corbaz. You can read a biography here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alo%C3%AFse_Corbaz

Is that an original Aloise Corbaz sketchbook he shows at the end? Great video, thank you for posting this

I can't imagine putting a real skull in my home library without being perturb by it.

I have an animal skull displayed in my house & I still get surprised when guests are perturbed by it (+ they're all meat-eaters/ hypocritical reaction!). I'd have a human skull if they weren't so damned expensive/ difficult to acquire.

My old pal Francis X King owned various bits of Crowley's stuff, including his druggy art.

Just out of curiosity is John actually practicing some of this stuff hes reading or is he more on the periphery.

+SymbolEnsemble I think his interest is more "academic" than "practical" :-)
