Nice collection! I have the same Hoya Compacta from Lowes in the hanging vase. I bought 2 of them on clearance. I also took them out of the floral foam. I re-rooted them in water and re-potted. Have you tried Mosquito Bits, Gnat Nix and Dr. Brooner's Peppermint Soap? Will help to get rid of those Fungus Gnats. Gerry 😎
I had Fungus Gnats one time before. Had a heck of a time getting rid of them. Now it only takes a couple of days. I also microwave my potting soil moistened with Mosquito Bits. Kills any eggs or larvae that are in the bag. I also keep my potting soil mixes in black garbage bags. That way Fungus Gnats do not get into them and lay their eggs. Enjoy your trip! 😎

Great collection. I only have 2 Hoyas one is a cutting from a 25 year old Hoya Carnosa. The other is a different kind small leaves kind of fuzzy. That one is not doing too well.

Nice Hoya collection! That you called nub, if I heard you right, om the small carnosa is where the roots come from. So no new growth there but it will come from other places! ☺ And the lacunosa, can't you ask the grower of the name? It is hard if not impossible to see what kind of lacunosa it is. Compacta and carnosa is two different species so it's just called Hoya compacta. I love hoyas and have closer to 120 different hoyas! I bet your collection will grow bigger too! 😁

I always give my Bella a little extra water when it gets peduncles. When they dry out and fall off it’s usually because I haven’t been consistent with watering.
My hoya has flowers that grow in a ball. They are pink flowers. I bought the plant for twenty five cents in TN. I have a problem with it right now it has something that looks like light yellow bugs or something it seems to get on the little new leaves. How can I get rid of this it is my favorite plant, Please help me.
Without pictures it’s a little difficult to identify either the Hoya or the bug (you’re certainly welcome to send pics via dm to @tropicalplantgirl on Instagram and I can try my best to help!) General pest advice: gently shower the plant to mechanically remove all the pests from the leaves. Spray leaves and soil with neem oil or horticultural soap (both available at big box stores) Just be easy with the neem oil as too much can build up and cause problems for the plant. Repeat every 4-5 days to continue to exterminate bugs at various point in their life cycle. Hope this helps! Good luck!!
Beautiful collection! How do you decide it’s time to water the Bella? I know it doesn’t want to dry out completely like other hoyas but I’m not sure when it’s time to water it. I just got mine recently. Thank you!
I don’t know that I have it 100% down myself yet either, but right now I’m watering about once a week. I have a moisture meter I use, and I water it when it reads on the low end of moist, before it reads dry. That seems to be working pretty well at the moment.

Glad you enjoyed! I’ve had some luck finding some locally at nurseries or on Facebook Marketplace. Online I’ve found some inexpensive ones at Hirt’s, or you can try Logee’s. All great places to start. Or Etsy if you want to support small growers.

I didn’t let it bother me because the ones they sent I was planning to add to my collection anyway. But this time I’m really upset. I fell in love with Hoyas after watching your video and I would love to acquire many different types. Please explain the difference of the 3 Hoya so that i can calm my nerves. Thank you so much
Hi. Looking at Hirts’ site, it seems like they may be different names for the same plant. I’ve never heard of a Strawberry and Cream Hoya before. There are Krimson Queen and Krimson Princess. With the Queen the white is around the edges of the leaves, and the princess the white is on the insides of the leaves. @@TropicalPlantGirl I hear the mosquito bits get the job done! Wish I knew before hand. Fungus gnats aren't as horrible as the mealy menace, but they put up a hell of a fight. All the non-biological remedies(short of a systemic pesticide) ust didn't work. PS, I love all your hoyas. I have a carnosa compacta that I've finally convinced to grow for me by dividing it among several pots, planting it in a crunchy mix, and blasting it with light. I swear, I see people lose their natural minds about flowers and what not. Me? I require a sedative when a new leaf sprouts. Hoyas have a way of humbling us. Your chelsea is my fave.

Order yourself some beneficial nematodes to get rid of the fungus gnats! Cleared up my plants infestation in just a few days!!!

I don’t think the first unnamed plant was a Carnosa, the leaves are too round and slightly splashed. It should be easier to identify as it grows.

I think they were left over from baby orchids that I purchased. Sometimes you can find them for a few dollars in the big box stores clearance plants.

The only thing that works for me when it comes to fungus gnats are predatory nematodes. I tried everything and that was the only thing that worked.
That was my next step... Mosquito Bits did the trick for me!
