Enthusiastic yes!
@@BrandonSchmit yeaaaaahhhh buddy. Meet you there next time? 🤪
@@AzulUnlimited I'm down! Might have to be next summer :)....
yes i would dive at that place
Uh , SOLO diving - with no friends or family knowing where exactly you are. Uh
no …😂
"Why do I do this?" I ask myself the same question every week when I wake up at 5am to head to cave country. And then I get in the water and remember, "Oh yeah, that is why I do this." And the question pops back in my head as I remember I need to get all this equipment back into the car.
Hahaha it's definitely a before and after dive question 😂😂
Always 😂 the best plan , dive solo , no buddy , no one knows you’re there . Genius ❤
I do just fine👌
@@AzulUnlimited that’s what the billionaires said on that submersible now trapped somewhere near the titanic
I’ve been certified since age 16
I’ve been diving all over the world
I’m 69
“always have a plan - stick to the
dive plan - NEVER (ever ) dive alone .
Every body discovered on on a hiking trail failed to notify friends family or park service
what trail , and when they expected
to exit
if you’re late - they can launch a search party
there’s quite a few UA-cam videos of solo cave divers
who perished alone - all that’s left is the GOPRO of them struggling
I’m a military pilot and airline captain -it’s all about risk management
but
if you live alone, no partner or kids
then
yes , you can dive solo and “do just fine”
Solo dive most of the time. Buddy's always disappear and ruin your dive. And you tend to be more careful when you are alone. Night diving alone is a trip when you turn out the light at 40 ft.🎉
Great video. So many colors and shapes. Thank you.
Thanks for watching, David :)
Stunning pictures again!
Thank you! I'm really enjoying learning how to share what I'm seeing out there :)
Great video, and 2 spots I have been wanting to check out for a long time. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for watching. Definitely worth making the trip, if you can :)
Wow 🤩 both locations did not disappoint… if they awarded Emmy’s for UA-cam videos, you would win! Beautiful! Thanks for showing us what’s down there!
Those currents looked strong…lots of rock fish, maybe ling cod? Crazy urchins and anemone city!
I missed the GPO 🐙 … for non-diver … they can be hard to spot … so much to see, I will go back again to where you cut in the graphic count…great job as always and thanks for the glimpses into underwater world I would not see otherwise. 🤿😘
Currents weren't too bad, but yes, there was a bit of water movement. Kept me on my toes :) The GPO was super tucked into the rock. I could barely get footage of its arm/sucker. BIG HUGS TO YOU!
As someone who learned to dive in Puget Sound at the age of 14, and has been diving now for 50 years, many thanks for posting these. AND love your dog. :)
Thank you so much for watching! Love the puget sound🤙
Great video. Thank you for sharing
Thank YOU for watching and commenting 🙏
Awesome vedio. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙏
Great video! Love all the wildlife!
Thanks! It's such a gorgeous place
I appreciate your content. Very fun to watch. I give you props for doing your road trip. Awesome!
Thank you so much! There will be a lot more to come!
Love it! That vis was great and it was really pretty! Hugs to you and Abby. ❤️
You gotta get out there! Make a long weekend of it 💙
Nice site! Looks much different then my upcoming weekend.
Just talked my student into upgrading to open water + dry suit class as it’s quite cold here in Dallas. She’s going to be much happier this weekend!
Yeah She will be! Have fun with the course!
Sweet video! 🎉 One of the most beautiful places in the world! ❤❤❤❤
It really is!
Great video
Thanks so much!
In the Park Service Y.A.C.C. We worked in America Camp redoing the buildings, also British camp.
Thanks for watching!
Wow, thank you for sharing!
We used to live in Washington state and I drove up to San Juan Island hoping to see orcas passing by lime kiln.
I am also a very active diver and wanted to explore the San Juan’s underwater so badly, but I was intimidated by the currents a bit and couldn’t find somebody to try diving it with me. Sadly.
I get it! The currents are strong out there. Hopefully you can find someone to go with one day. Definitely worth the effort
Inspirational, very well-done video! One day I will have to get out that way and explore some of what the West coast waters have to offer. Safe travels and safe diving!!
You will LOVE it. Thanks for watching 🤙
Sarah uses two 80’s side mount for complete redundancy as she is diving solo. Sorry for answering that for you Saz. Awesome video as always. I love your selection of music. Deadman’s bay in the morning is just magical.
It really was! Thank you and thanks for watching 🤙
@@AzulUnlimited I never miss a video.
Loved all the invertebrate closeups! It's going to take me a while to look them all up 😂... The octopus lair/den had so much carnage! Awesome video! Thank you.
Thanks for watching 😊 I wish the octo had come out but I love seeing their dens too 😁
I hope you and your sweet baby Abby enjoyed your time there! It’s an iconic place for folks in the PNW !!! 🌊🦀🐙
I will, for sure, be back :)
It looks like you have put those dive rite xt's through their paces.
My equipment is haggard 😂
Lots of life there! Good video! Good place. I’ve been to places Where I wondered why I’m there. Still wondering, but that’s what wandering divers do.
Hahaha yup. But it's always worth it right? 😂
Just found your channel today and just apparently just missed you in the San Juans. Still going to MT? Gotta check in with Glen at Flathead Scuba. McGregor lake is a great dive with easy shore access. Enjoy the crawdads! Lake Mcdonald is also worth a trip to Glacier Park. Look for the shovel garden straight off the boat launch in about 50'. Oh ya, I mean 15 meters. Also heard of a underwater forest at the far end of the lake. Have fun and enjoy the big sky!
Thank you!! Plans have changed drastically so I'm putting MT on hold for now. It's going to happen, but first I'm heading to Baja to teach an Instructor Development Course and take a group diving there in January :) Happy you're here.
Great video! Also would love to see how you managed to put on those sidemount tanks as a solo diver.
I definitely have footage in previous videos. It's actually quite easy around here because there aren't any waves so I can take the tanks out into the water and put them on when I put on my fins
Wow - just beautiful cold water diving! Definitely worth the price of admission. Glad you decided to go and share it with us! 🤙. Also - out of curiosity, have you intentionally (or not) flooded your drysuit yet?
Thanks for watching! I haven't flooded my drysuit yet. Doing my best to keep that from happening 😂
Looks like you were hiking a bit with gear. Probably why people don't really dive that spot. Like my buddy says...."Minimal effort"..I myself would make the walk or kayak from shore to check out a new area so long as it was nice and I brought lunch...lol!
I totally get it, but the trek was worth it!
Another awsome video, I absolutely love your genuine take on life! If your ever in the northern Yucatan I'd love to take you to the most amazing cenotes (off the beaten path) that Mexico has to offer. 🌴🍻🌴
I would love that! I lived in the Yucatan for a bit and am itching to go back
We dive in the Merida area, not the crazy Tulum, Playa del Carmen area. Check out our latest video "destination known" "were going down there". I will be taking a side mount course soon and getting away from back mount for dives just like that one.
Keep the awesome, fun and informative videos coming. Hasta luego🍻
@@billendres3115 Very cool! I like Merida. Good luck with Sidemount!!
I’m going to leave the rat race one day and do diving full time and this is certainly an inspiration. I’m a tech diver so I might need a bigger van. 😃. Loving these…
Get a skoolie!!! They're the coolest and tons of room for equipment 😁
@@AzulUnlimited Ha my parents had a converted school bus when I was a kid. I’ve considered it. An EV conversion would be cool
@@mikesbigadventures194 yeeeeeesssss!
Hey Sarah, great video. What UW camera and light are you using?
I have a GoPro 9 and kraken 15,000
Wow where did you see all those urchins? I’d love to check that out!
Lime kiln and deadman’s bay!
You are probably no longer in Seattle, but it is too bad you didn't hook up with the locals. We have a pretty active community up here, a few really awesome photographers.
I actually got in with a really sweet group from Underwater Sports. I try to be careful about meeting people from the internet. Safety and whatnot. Total pain in the butt. That being said, i will definitely be back!
Any tips for me on diving with current and/or tidal movements?
The thing that helped me was diving in a place where currents changed all the time and I could experience a wide range of conditions. Komodo National Park was a great teacher. The other helpful piece is to dive those places with people who are familiar and can explain how to do it safely. That's why taking courses in places with challenging conditions is super helpful.
Sarah thanks for a great video. I’m a new diver with family in Friday Harbor. Unfortunately I don’t believe there are any local dive shops, gear rental, tank fills on the island. May be a bit until I’m experienced enough and have all my own gear to dive there.
Yeah from what I saw, there aren't any shops so you do have to be prepared. Hopefully someone will start doing boat charters out there again
All the best with your new hobby. Take it slow and safe and enjoy!
@@gbsailing9436 Thank you very much! That's exactly how I'm moving these days.
I think the closest is Anacortes diving, just get your gear before you ride the ferry over.
@@jacobvirnig4655 exactly
I was just there and wanted to dive off Deadman’s but the ferry had staffing issues and I couldn’t get across. I wanted to know if anyone dived off Kiln lime but couldn’t find anyone …. Next time I can see the octopuses and maybe run into orca lol
I had the same issues. Not many people go out there to dive, but it's definitely worth it! Lime Kiln was my favorite of the two.
Lots of nutrients upwelling out there no matter why so much life. Looks better than Monterey!
It’s truly beautiful! Can’t wait to go back
I don't mean to be critical, and yes I understand you are using a dry suit, but do you really need two tanks to do a shore dive to 25m? My 100cft tank used to last me an hour or more. Obviously this depends on cold, current, depth and how I multi-level the dive. But twins? Really? For a shore dive.
Anyway I love the videos and wish you could show more of the dives. I can't afford Patreon currently, But I wish you well with your channel. Safe diving... 👌
I go with two tanks for redundancy. I wouldn't go to 25m on a solo dive with one tank. Yes, it would be easier to take a pony but this is the equipment that I have. It also keeps my skills fresh.
As for footage, I share all the footage that is watchable 😂😂 I'm still learning underwater videography and the gopro is limiting sometimes. As for patreon, I totally get it. You're getting most of the diving stuff here, patreon is more behind the scenes silliness, yoga, etc. Plus, my patrons know where I am so we can dive together when I'm on the road.
@@AzulUnlimited Hey I totally get that. I understand where you are coming from. I tend to buy gear that negates the need for redundancy, like braided hoses, and DIN fittings etc., so little can go wrong in that area. Like you, I plan my dives, and I stick to that plan, ALWAYS. I once had to leave a group of instructors and divemasters at 42m because they diverted from their plan. Not fun, I didn't enjoy doing it, but I wasn't going to die that day (penetrate a unknown wreck without the proper training, which none of them had) because of peer group pressure. Admittedly, I was the most experienced diver, so maybe that made the difference, idk. But you have to be mature enough to know when to say NO, understanding your limitations - including the equipment you have with you at the time.
You're doing well with the underwater photography so I'll keep watching. You seem to be living the dream at present so keep it up and I wish you well. If you ever get to Australia, drop me a line here and I'll show you some local Sydney dives.
@@gbsailing9436 Thank you! I would love that. Also, yikes about that group. Diver peer pressure is not ok...
You've mentioned a few times that you didn't enjoy living in komodo. I have an instructor friend who wants to work in Indonesia, not Komodo specifically. Can you tell me what exactly you found difficult? Do I need to talk him out of it?
Indonesia is lovely and so many people are happy to live there. I struggled bc I didn't have a community in labuan bajo. I need a yoga and sobriety community around me. If I had lived in Bali or Nusa Penida I probably would've fared better. I'm sure your friend will love it. The diving is incredible.
@@AzulUnlimited thanks!
VIVA a VIDA 👎🌝👍🥰👌
la vida es muy linda :)
Don’t go back to using measurement units from the 1700’s. That makes no sense.
All the best dives are early morning or evening. We just have suffer through it 😆
hahaha i know, but now I'm primarily diving with Americans and no one understands me 😂
P.S. it’s nice Sebastian 🦀came out to pay homage to Ariel 🚐 … I saw him peak out from under his shell 🐚 …
haha it knows we're friends
