I wondered what those 3 dots interfering with wanting to do something else were. This is really useful because I’ve only ever used split screen by accident and never actually bothered to figure it out when I needed it, all these years 🤣🤣
You actually missed a lot of things, like drag the three dots like a windows to one side, how to use slide over (which needs improvement btw, its not very easy at the moment) or combining apps on the app switcher itself.

I use both iPad Pro 11 gen 3 and Tab S8. As to multitask, Tab S8 is far far far much better with its DeX function. I do wish iPad had this amazing feature like Samsung DeX but I know Apple won’t do it. They want to sell Macbook Air rather than have it absorbed into iPad pro. But iPad’s multitask honestly sucks. Even with iPadOS 16. Pretty much my M1 iPad became a machine to play games rather than becoming my go to tablet.
Why can't you turn off the snapping? It only allows you 1/2:1/2 or ≈3/4:1/4. For my purposes 2/3:1/3 would be ideal or why can't you just adjust it rather freely to your preference like on MacBook?
I'm having the exact same situation (wanting an university e-book on the 1/3 side and being able to take notes on the 2/3 side). To me, in this video right here at 0:35 it appears that it does not have the snapping behaviour that my ipad has. I ordered the ipad and the galaxy tab s9+ at the same time to try them both and I guess I'll return the ipad cause it does not reflect the behaviour I need and had seen before. On the tab s9+, I can freely size the partitions.

Still annoying. Windows is still superior in tabletPC or in Laptops. Ipad can't do multi tasking such as 2 excels editing at the same time, while any windows tablet can. An old androids still better than latest ipads.
Where are the dots??? I can not find them anywhere. I went into settings, I made sure multitasking is enabled, I have opened pretty much every app on my iPad looking for those damn dots. They are nowhere to be found!

I really hate that Ipad doesn't support pop up windows. You can't change the sizes of the windows and even stage manager is utter useless because when I try to watch UA-cam in small screen it's always in portrait mode size 💢

if you have an ipad only running ios9 or later there too is split screen and multitasking; just without the dots on top. you have to get the app you want to from the dock which is more complicated but works too
If you want the buttons on the top, then your iPad needs to be on iPadOS 15. Go to Settings>General>Software Update, if you see it; then good! Update your iPad. If you don't, then sorry to say but your iPad is not compatible with iPadOS 15 because of old hardware

"Multiple windows not supported." Apparently, for the 7th Gen iPad, but what about the 8th? Also, I am using iPadOS16.5, but I gather it's the hardware that matters here, right? What I was hoping to accomplish is making a new Playlist in UA-cam in which to save this video for future reference. But, since that would require seeing two instances of UA-cam I can't do it. I suppose the "workaround" would be to exit the video, then make my Playlist, reopen the video and save it to the newly created Playlist, right?

I don't want split view. Say when I am opening an app A I want only that app to show up and then when I switch to another app B I want that app B in full screen with app A running in background so that I can switch to app A instantly from app B. Can you do this here ?

Starting at 0:35, it shows that you can resize the divider to any size you want. When I do it on my iPad, it snaps to 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4 of the screen, no variable size allowed. How can I change it to be like in the video? The quarter distribution does not match my use case, which would be ideal at 1/3 of the screen or in other words 1:2 aspect ratio between two apps.

To give the apps equal space, drag the app divider to the center of the screen." and so it does not mention either snapping or no snapping behaviour.

The multitasking button interferes with the Live Photo toggle button in the Photos app.

Hi! Thank you for reaching out. To exit split screen, you can swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to the app preview and swipe up on the preview of the app you are attempting to close out of.

Why does the voice has to crack its sooo annoying

What if you don’t have to multitask/split screen button and how to add it

Starting at 0:35, it shows that you can resize the divider to any size you want. When I do it on my iPad, it snaps to 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4 of the screen, no variable size allowed. How can I change it to be like in the video? The quarter distribution does not match my use case, which would be ideal at 1/3 of the screen or in other words 1:2 aspect ratio between two apps.

@@applesupport I did reach out to that exact helpdesk and I got forwarded to that exact article. It states "To adjust the apps' sizes, drag the app divider to the left or right. To give the apps equal space, drag the app divider to the center of the screen." and so it does not mention either snapping or no snapping behaviour.
