I've had my RP5 for almost four weeks now and I have it set up fairly well running Daijisho as a frontend. I'm hesitant to mess around with changing anything unless Rocknix offers any other benefits. PS3 and XBox would be a cool addition, but I've heard XBox emulation is pretty crappy, and being overly selective on what PS3 games it can run doesn't seem like it's worth it.

Nice work! Obviously you cannot test every title but I assume Demons Souls didn't even hit 30fps if it's not in here? Can't wait for the coming years and higher performance chips, if I learned one thing it's that I do not like the android experience on handheld and want to pick linux where possible :D

The Rocknix game settings just aren’t working it for me. I set the resolution to 720p, but it keeps sticking at 480i. It’s easier to tweak the settings in RPCS3 because that actually works. And by the way, I’m playing Geometry Wars 3 Dimensions Evolved at 1080p and 60fps! Only downside is RPCS3 drains the Retroid Pocket's battery very quickly - get about one hours play even on a 2D game so only worth using for PS3 exclusives IMO.
Done everything to a 512gb card and now it's saying there's only 2.14gb on the card on the Rocking partition!!!! Thanks a lot!!!! Knackered my card!!!!!
Curious if there's any major performance differences between emulation on Linux vs Android. I'd love to switch permanently to Linux on the RP5 but love having access to higher-end emulation.
@naruhearts1 So far, I haven't noticed much of a difference on GameCube. I haven't really messed with PS2 on Rocknix yet, as I'm still in the process of getting my system set up. From what I can see, it looks like Rocknix is still using a version of AetherSX2, and I'm not sure how it stacks to the patched versions of NetherSX2 on Android.
My build of rocknix which is the newest one does not have RPCS3? What can I do? I couldnt get it to work I get some sort of error. I installed firmware and everything.
@retrotechdad yeah I used your build that was linked and it worked. I have to tinker with settings but for the RAM and considering it's early development it wasn't bad at all. I think down the road we may have something. I sometimes have problems with the screen being to pixelated but hey it's still something

@@retrotechdad I fixed the problem, The problem was the PlayStation 3 firmware was named incorrectly I was using PS3UPDAT491.PUP. The file must be renamed to PS3UPDAT.PUP for the firmware to be installed correctly. Now the only I need to get working is to control a mapping.
That didn't answer all of our question, the good of ps3 is gta v and white knight chronicles i doubt it will run on this device since you only show puny mini game ps3 rom
I showed games that CAN run. The RP5 and Mini have a Snapdragon 865, it’s impressive that this works at all. The games are “puny” to you but plenty enjoy these titles. 👍

Eh that's a pretty ignorant Comment bc current snapdragon chips outperform baseline x86 pcs by a mile. We just don't have the driver and software maturation quite there yet. My ayaneo pocket evo outperforms the steamdeck in ps3 Emulation and so does the odin 2. @@MithosDagon

Instead of trying to play PS3 on a RP5 or waiting for Linux on an Odin 2 which will probably never come, then get a PC handheld to play PS3 emulation.

I didn't try RPCS3 on ARM myself, but from what I saw, ARM SoCs have easier time emulating x86 games (aka Winlator) rather than PS3.

No, the Retroid Pocket 5 has a Snapdragon 865. It’s a miracle anything PS3 works on it.

Yes, since flashing Rocknix to the microSD will wipe the contents.
You can use the card to store games on the Android afterwards.
So if I have an Sd card where I have all my stuff I run though android, do I need to use a different one for Rocknix?
It will wipe your micro SD card when you flash Rocknix but afterwards you can use the micro SD card in Android.

You can try launching RPCS3 from the tools section and then checking your gamepads but it should automatically be detected.
