Mr. Curtis was a great actor, entertainer and well know for his voice. There are several old John Wayne movies with him singing and one of his best noted is when guest stared on Have Gun Will Travel. Thank you for viewing and I hope you enjoyed my silly memories.
Blew me away the first time I watched it! And every time since. I already knew he was a good singer, but when you see him in his "character" it just takes you by surprise, and then realize what a wonderful actor he was. RIP, Ken Curtis
Ken Curtis was so very talented and nothing like his character of Festus. But he gave such personality and charm to Festus that we just couldn't help but love him. Always enjoyed it when Festus sang and when he told one of his tall tales!
Festus sang the first verse of this song in the episode "Comanches is Soft" from season 9. He plays foil to Burt Reynolds' character "Quint" in what has to be one of Gunsmoke's funniest episodes.
Yes, must be the episode where he kept hand wrestling Quint and Quint threw him into the billows, he hid under the wagon Quint was on to go buy another one. I loved it..the 🎵
Ken Curtis had SUCH a talent! He could do comedy, drama, and sing in different keys!! What a performer. I really liked the mood of this scene, the direction, script and acting was top notch! 😀😀 Long live Festus!!
One of my all time favorite shows and certainly my favorite western. Miss Kitty was such a pretty lady. I always wondered why she and Marshall Dillon never got married after 20 years!
I remember when my family got a tv set. As long as I can remember, Gunsmoke was one of my favorite shows. And of all the characters, I think Festus was my favorite.
Remember the first time I saw Ken Curtis as himself in a John Wayne movie, threw me off, cause all I'd ever seen him as Festus! Great character great actor
I had the honor and privilege to shake hands with Festus at the American Royal in KC about fifty years ago when he autographed a picture for me. Golly bill Doc, I remember it like it was yesterday. It's says with a whole heap of good wishes Ken "Festus" Curtis. One of the best memories I have.
My favorite parts: -Festus: You hear that? As sure as the Lord made little green apples we're fixin to have ourselves a twisty. -Festus: You ever see the wind blow a rooster in a jug? Well I did? Gotta LOVE Festus!
Ken Curtis was one of the greatest actors of all time. As Festus, the way he sang compared to his professional singing voice (search Tumbing Tumbleweeds), and the way he changed his speaking voice on Gunsmoke is phenomenal!! To top it off he was funny!
He was also a good looking man out of the festus character, Its hard to believe when you see him as AS HIMSELF ALL CLEAN shaven and dressed UP THAT he is the man that played festus.
Ken Curtis "Festus" was a singer in ,was it Tommy Dorsey's big band.He was a Sons of the Pioneers. He stared in a couple shows too ; Is that right ,can't remember ? Thanks for the video of a great singer/ actor
I wonder why they didn't have Ken playing the guitar. From what I've seen, he's fairly talented (and with a much better singing voice than what he could display here). Wasn't he in the Sons Of The Pioneers?
Does anyone know how many deputies were on Gunsmoke & can you name them? (Main character deputies. Not out of town deputies or anyone that was deputized temporarily to run with a posse.)
Ken Curtis was one of the "Sons of the Pioneers" for four years. He also sang with Tommy Dorsey's band after Frank Sinatra left. All that being said... I like Dennis Weaver. Better actor and he seems like a man who was in the civil war.
@Luther Baker I agree but many people as I do still loved the character he played as far as his character of festus as you SAY BEING annoying that was written in by the movie writers for him to be sometimes annoying, but he was always there for Mat Dillon the sherriff WHEN he needed him to be.
Love it…I sing it when I’m cooking! My hubby and I have been watching gunsmoke together for 32 years…everyday❤️ I’m 48
I LOVE Gunsmoke! Thank goodness for INSP. I watch every day!! I LOVE retirement & Gunsmoke!
Gunsmoke. The best western TV show ever.

Good ole Festus Haggen! I always love to hear his spurs jangle.
Good ol' Festus and his spurs. He'll never sneak up on anyone wearing those things. Lol 😄 I love Festus. He's my favorite character on the show.
I could listen to festus sing all night.. brings back simpler times
Love gunsmoke, one of my favorite western shows, festus makes me laugh every time I watch the show. he gets me when he mentions the ugly on a ape.
I love Festuses long winded stories about 'Us Haggens' 😆😆

Ken Curtis was one of the reasons why I love Gunsmoke. Plus I loved the rest of the cast too.

That's probably my favorite episode. I can watch it over and over, and it still cracks me up!!!

One of the greatest entertainers in television history!!!!!

I just love Festus, he was a great actor and great singer too.
These were some of the episodes when Jim Arness would go surfing in Hawaii and drop in to say hi or bye
My favorite parts:
-Festus: You hear that? As sure as the Lord made little green apples we're fixin to have ourselves a twisty.
-Festus: You ever see the wind blow a rooster in a jug? Well I did?
Gotta LOVE Festus!
I love listening to Ken " Festus" Curtis sing
Meanwhile Matt drinks a beer... LOVE IT
Love guns love Gunsmoke.
Unless they all just moved to Dodge City, the folks in Kansas are well acquainted with tornadoes.

He truly keeps me cracked up it is really a toss up between him and Chester they both really helped make the show.
I like Festus better
And both of their banter with Doc has me in stitches constantly. Lol (little play on words there, too. Lol)
Both are hilarious, but I gotta give the win to Chester. His child like “Mr. Dillon’s” are great 😄.
Festus was a good singer
I heard great man, singer and person all round, I love his singing, acting and vocabulary, love to watch this show with my daddy
festus , ken curtis an original son of the pioneer singer
I love festus. He was a very good actor.
Ken Curtis was a big band singer with the Tommy Dorsey orchestra in the 1940s.

“Make it a whiskey and I’ll stay”
Characters on Gun smoke seem so real it's like you know them personally
I liked Ken in 'The Quiet Man' - plays and sings in the pub scenes.
Ken Curtis had a great singing voice.
Absoltilee....sur
He was also a good looking man out of the festus character, Its hard to believe when you see him as AS HIMSELF ALL CLEAN shaven and dressed UP THAT he is the man that played festus.
Wanda Cornell Cornell I know. I think his first time on Gunsmoke was as a lady’s man and not a nice one
This clip is from season 11 episode "The Storm"
11 is best season
The tribute to Ken Curtis was THE BEST.
Oct
Ken Curtis the man of the late 60s an 70s.
I LOVE KENS MUSIC :)
FESTUS,,,,, UNIQUE
Great song 👌😂
Good luck trying to get this song out of ‘yer head!
They live in KS and don't know what a twisty is.
He did compare it to a cyclone, so I'd say its different.
Means tornado in his world
Tornado.
I think it's a particularly unique kind of tornado, which did unusual things, in the mind of Festus.
Chester was VERY GOOD
but Festus had a better character to play and he played it
PERFECT !!!!

Bet a twisty picked up Dorothy Gale and her little dog, too! Festus, one of the best TV characters of all time.
I grew up in Kansas, never ever heard of a "Twisty" before...we called them tornadoes 🌪!!
"I hope to jump in your vest pocket, it did!"

Do we know the name of the song?
What’s the name of this song?
Yep Comanches is Soft was hilarious....Festus sang great...
Never gets old
Make this even better cuz I'm actually drunk
A tornado!
Festus sings more intelligently than he talks
He does? I hear his singing very similar to his speaking voice.
Baskerville22
Lol I love your comment !

Festus Haggan was ANNOYING! The show lost a lot of heart when Chester left.
Chester was useless as the tits on a boar hog. He ruined the show.
Festus is the bestus.
@@ricktaylor3748 festus for the rest of us
Wrong Festus made the show better
