  • In today's project, we’re delivering firewood and picking up Pecan logs. We’ll start at the wood yard, where we’ll need four wheel drive to load up the wood. Then a full day of restaurant and residential deliveries follows. We’ll end the day by using the Ford F550 and Fassi knuckle boom to pick up a trailer load of Pecan logs. Ride a long as we deliver some firewood! Leave a comment or ask a question down below!

    here in the suburbs of Levias Ky we pronounce it pa con. I never trusted tongs for flying material seen too many fails. Love the knuckle boom.

      Not sure I trust them either haha. These are lifting tongs as opposed to pulling tongs, and we make sure no one, or anything important is under them when flying wood. The knuckle boom with the tongs is a back saving combination. Really appreciate you watching!

    Nice side hustle. I'm so exhausted at the end of my 10a-6p(Paramedic), I can barely handle my own wood needs, much less selling like you do. But amazing that so far you're had 1.1K views on something as simple as this.

      @@FoxfireProjects at the end of the day, most of us really don't care if we've been thanked. Most of the times it takes us by surprise. But when someone takes the time out of their emergency and thanks me, I make sure that I acknowledge that with a thank you. My email signature tag for years reads: “You will get the chance to help a person every time you go out the door. It may be very small, it may be very big. They may understand and appreciate it, or they may not. Regardless, you help every time. And sometimes, you get the chance to change someone’s life for the better.” -Daniel Schwester

    Very nice video ,well done.
    I watch a half dozen wood yard channels
    And that knuckle boom sure answers a lot of wood yard questions.
    When I added a backup beeper to my appliance delivery truck,
    I chose to add a three dollar toggle switch instead of activating it with the transmission .
    It alleviates a ton of unnecessary beeping.

      Appreciate the kind words. I would definitely love to turn the back up alarm off sometimes, but we are in and out of residential areas with kids and animals, and back of restaurants, that we just leave it as is, especially for insurance reasons. Also helps our customers know we've arrived on those early weekend deliveries 🤣 Thanks so much for watching!

      @@FoxfireProjects yeah
      I hear you.
      It was a beautiful thing to back in to a customers driveway at seven a m. , Give'em two beeps to let them know I was there instead of six or eight beeps .
      Most often they would be in the garage eating for me before I got out of the cab.

    Nice deliveries! Premium stuff. You mentioned mowing with a mini excavator a while back. Is that still in the works?? I ordered a bush hog for my mini excavator this week. (ouch to the bank account) I should have some videos in 4-6 weeks from now of a complete novice all thumbs home owner using it.

      Thanks so much! Mini ex mowing was put on hold due to hunting season and it being too wet to get on some of the ground without making a huge mess. Sneak peak of the mower in this video, about the time I get the truck stuck. Planning for this spring for sure. Will make sure to put up a video, and I'll be looking out for yours. Always appreciate you watching!

    The entire setup with crane and bags is gorgeous. Assuming government juice is water what was that getting added for? If it's not water what was it and what was it added to/for?

    • @FoxfireProjects
      @FoxfireProjects  Рік тому +1

      Really appreciate it! Government juice is a nick name for diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). Basically water and urea that's injected into the exhaust of diesel trucks to clean up the exhaust. Not a great system, but unfortunately with federal laws we are stuck with it. Thanks so much for watching!

    • @Alan_Hans__
      @Alan_Hans__ Рік тому

      I'd never heard of that stuff before. It's not especially common in Aus and then it's mainly latter model cars and trucks. It seems it's only really been a thing in Aus since about 2016. I probably haven't driven any diesel vehicle newer than that.

    • @FoxfireProjects
      @FoxfireProjects  Рік тому

      I think it started around 2008 here in the states with DPF systems. Around 2012 or so is when the DEF fluid showed up on everything over a certain horsepower. We have a fleet of diesel pickups at my day job, and never an issue other than DEF related problems. Hopefully the manufacturers get it ironed out soon. Quite the pain. Hope all is well down under. Thanks again for watching!

    as a small buisness firewood guy like most of us watching i wonder is this profitable, cost of truck, crane, bags and processing equip, to make back a face cord at a time , about 150-200$ at a time as a owner operater, id like to hear that commentary, my back is fucked the way i been doing it. so mabye its worth it but i cant see the numbers, but im a dimbass too, thanks for the content!

    • @FoxfireProjects
      @FoxfireProjects  Рік тому +1

      Appreciate your comment. This isn't my sole job, just an evenings and weekend thing. The boom truck is a good friend of mine's, who also has an evening and weekend wood business. We help each other out. Share labor and costs when possible. We do ok. In our area, we're blessed with pretty good business. We focus on the higher end markets, such as restaurants, cooking woods, and folks who require wheelbarrowing stacking etc. Unlike most businesses, the pandemic was great for us, because everyone was cooped up at home looking for something to do, so fire pit and cooking wood sales took off. Only a very small fraction of our clientele actually burn for heat. Hope this helps. Thanks so much for watching!

    When you strap your bags do you ever have any fly out when you’re going down the road at hwy speed?

    • @FoxfireProjects
      @FoxfireProjects  Рік тому

      You would think so, but we've never had an issue. After we tighten all the straps, we always get up top and shuffle a few pieces around if needed to make sure everything rides safely. Works surprisingly well. Appreciate you watching!

      @FoxfireProjects  7 місяців тому

      We purchased this one used. It was one of the only ones around at the time, because every ad we found around the US had the same picture of this truck listed. We have since talked with local dealers about ordering a new model spec'd the same. It's doable, but pricey. Thanks for watching!

    • @FoxfireProjects

      This truck was picked up used several years back, before truck prices went crazy. We recently priced a new truck with the same outfitting through a local dealer, and it was around $100k USD. Tough pill to swallow. Appreciate you watching!
