I think I know what’s happening, it’s because Jailbreak gives you an accessory named “Handcuffs” when you get arrested and then the game says you’re arrested, and this UGC item’s model is called “Handcuffs”, so the game just thinks you’re arrested when really you’re not.
Yeah that makes sense cuz you can't arrest a person that's already been arrested
Should be an easy fix, just change the name to something random so this kind of accident doesn't happen
so basically they'd fix this by renaming the accessory you're given when you get arrested.
The hitbox glitching for reason, I think it's give gear that you don't see
But at the time the ugc is not a tool/gear is a accesory that are called prisoner shacks, so it makes a bit of sense not too much.
it's so ironic that the item is a pair of shackles to the point where it makes me wonder if badimo added this in on purpose.

i think the ugc item (its a jacket format) overrides with the place the handcufs are supposed to go so it just glithes and doesnt accept it

@@justasphere.9850 Basically because the game uses code to detect if you have an item named "Handcuffs" in you character and if you do it stops all arrest code from running, and since this items name was called Handcuffs, it would make the game thing you are already arrested

i think the issue was because when you're arrested an accessory gets added to your arms to make it lok like you're arrested, because the UGC item is right where the cuffs should be at you can't arrest them. so yeah
Doesn't work like that, in roblox you can make 2 different objects be in the same place and nothing will happen, the problem is that the UGC item is actually called "Handcuffs" and the item in jailbreak is also called "Handcuffs" so the game doesn't know what to do and just returns nil

The way the game handles an arrest is if a cop triggers the arrest code, it checks if that cop is in range of the player they’re arresting. If they are, the game equips the handcuffs, which doubles as a toggle for whether or not that player can be arrested. It then waits 5 seconds and then teleports the player to their cell.
The problem is that the check for if the player is in the arrested state is if the handcuffs are present. This check is separate from the rest of the code that handles arrests, which is why it doesn’t just throw the player into a cell. I also believe that the check for the handcuffs is through Item ID, not by the name.
This is able fixed one of 2 ways:
1) by making a handcuff UGC Item which is off sale. This will make being arrested the only way of wearing the cuffs. I believe this is the way they fixed it, but I cannot be sure.
2) by making the check for if the player is arrested be separate from the handcuffs and incorporated into the rest of the arrest sequence. From a programmer’s perspective, this is a much more complicated solution than the first.
To put it simply, the game already thinks the player is arrested, so disables the ability to arrest them again.

I know its bad but there is good stuff about it which is you can avoid the exploiters and tryharders so nobody can arrest you after being tired of unfair players kept arrest you in unfair or cheat way.
Well it would be a overreaction but removing the allowance to have items of that type when u enter the game would fix it, mm2 did that with waist accessories

was probably checking if you were already arrested by checking the children of the players .and because your player had a child called handcuffs or whatever it is, it assumed you had already been arrested

as a dev i can tell what happend was that it removed the handcuff and replaced it with ugc one so game thinks your arested but your not
I know whats happening now, so this is what is actually happening. The dev's probably insert a bool value inside of a player called "Handcuffs", in which they check if a player is either handcuffed "true" or not "false", but this item is also called handcuffes. So Roblox gets confused and dosent perform the action that is usually needed. (Getting arrested) this is a easy fix for the devs so dont you guys get too comfortable with this.
Usually you don't insert bools to the character, it's probably a script attribute.
