  • Gloria Steinem said, “too many people are looking for the right person instead of trying to be the right person.” My podcast guest is renowned psychotherapist and the author of 21 books, Dr. David Richo, direct from Santa Barbara, California.
You're going to love this conversation. He is a beautiful human being.
David has been working in this field for 50 years and still practicing.
His work emphasises the benefits of mindfulness, loving kindness and personal growth. And in this episode, we are going to discuss his book “How to be an adult in relationships - the five keys to mindful loving” that I have just loved. We are going to dig into the five A's - attention, acceptance, action, appreciation and allowing - the hallmarks of mindful loving and how they are the key to true intimacy.
My husband and I have been married for 28 years and we are working through the five A’s and the book together right now. Approaching it really mindfully and very slowly and I talk a bit about our experience with this.
What I really love about Dr Richo’s book is how he invites the spiritual journey as well as the therapeutic journey. The mindfulness journey.
Please take some time out of your day, relax and listen to this fabulous podcast that can help you take your own relationship to new highs. You can also watch this on UA-cam.

This mans work is amazing. I cried listening to “how to be an adult in relationships”. It’s artful and poetic and the languaging and energy of it cuts right through the ego. Bravo to this man.

We are viewing a true practitioner of healing from the likes of Carl Rogers, Carl Jung, etc. A wellspring of knowledge laid out in common tongue. What a gift!

The Psalms you shared definitely should be about our every day life. Calm. Peaceful and still. Unfortunately most romantic relationships are the opposite. For me I found peace of mind by being by myself. Singlehood. Didn't plan this - it ended up given my choices. ❤

I like Dr Richo, but listening to him is painful. Talk faster. Humans can hear and comprehend faster than people talk and he talks wasaaayyyy tooooo slow.

He seems to speak at a speed that works for him to be able to communicate his concepts. You'll just have to be patient I guess

Your final thoughts on anger brought to my mind the angry black crowds currently demanding reparations from white people.
