The success of the first live action Lion King had little to do with Favreau's weird and lazy decisions and everything to do with Disney's advertising and nostalgia pandering.
Man, Lion King 1 1/2 was really underrated. I remember expecting some kind of forward narrative from the first two and rented it as a kid, and tbh it's THE movie that taught me what a commentary was. Good stuff guys
When I first heard Barry Jenkins (Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk) was directing this, I thought it was a shitpost. My theory is this: After directing the 2019 Aladdin remake, Guy Ritchie has released one film annually every year since. And they’re all very “Guy Ritchie” movies-not really any “one for them” in the pack. I’m guessing Jenkins saw this, and thought he’d sell out once so he can hopefully parlay it into getting future projects made.
The new voice at the end caught me off guard! I wish I could donate money to you, but the situation here in Brazil is really bad regarding money, especially for me...
I really have a hard time caring for films like this. I didn't even know (knowingly) that there was another re-remakeoid for this specific topic. I didn't even know John Favreau was responsible for the last one!? I love being out of the loop when it comes to stuff like this! But he will always be one of my favourite celebrity Sopranos appearances. "The roof is soft tar!" Guess he didn't need to order any espresso!
Does every bad guy's origins story have to be the girl he liked liked someone else? No wonder geeks go beserk these days. 'Girl said no to me?! She likes someone else? My revenge will be had!' What a lazy plot.
Not sure if you heard about Adam Johnson, but he make an hour and a half long video about why lion king 2019 is the worst film he ever saw. Not to mention that its only part one
The remake is for 5 year olds with TikTok brain, the original is for 8 year olds. Caring too much either way is kinda comical. Caring about Disney movies at all as an adult should make you feel shame 😂 I really like YMS but his obsession with Lion King is objectively funny because he doesn't give a fuck about anything else Disney does, he just ignores it, nostalgia is weird that way.
Mufasa 2024, no review. I refuse.
Some of the Truthers are wondering if you are ever gonna cover Villain Retros video on Justin Silverman?
Frankie is so special. Bless EJ for enabling him.
Are you a time traveler?
lmao

I'm a woman of simple tastes. I see a RCA/RCE video and I watch. You guys never fail to entertain.
Are you single?
Is the new outro voice Bluey's mom?
Is that Lady Decade doing the outro now?
I don't have that money!
Everytime they write a villain origin story it always goes zero to 11 on the evil meter for no real reason. Maybe people were a-holes from birth.
So Scar was an incel all along and turned evil when Mufasa mogged him. Thanks Disney for modernizing Lion King.
Or course Disney gave Scar an incel origin. Kevin Smith did the same thing with Skeletor in Netflix He-man.
Incel villain origins are the worst.
If it happens to a female villain, it's played off as "he played with my heart waaaaah!"

Kinda kills me that Barry Jenkins, prince of the FSU film school, is wasting his time doing slop like this.
5:23 The ol' "angry incel" narrative
Is Sly aware of the outro change?
I've never heard another man say, "You a can you feel the love tonight kinda moment." Lol sounds like something timon would say.
New outro VA?!
making movies, making songs, and tuggin 'round the world.......
The new voice at the end caught me off guard!

Bring back the old outro 😅

Russel Crowe is saying 'Tugger'.... y'know tugboat... Tugger?
Yes, I know.
@@RedCowArcade ah ok
For some reason, I still call the character Mustafa than Mufasa.
No sane man knows this much about The Lion King 😂
Why’d you change the women at the end? She sounds annoyed
Are you guys going to discuss Nosferatu or A Complete Unknown?
Nosferatu yes
Big lion king fan btw
Is that iconoclast on the Kombat machine? That game was awesome

New voice at the end...AI?
Disney wasted Barry Jenkins. Should be a criminal offense.
so Scar became evil because of a girl. very happy to skip this trash.
Yes, we really needed to hear that Tucker thing three times in a row

It’s so odd to me that people hate it all that much. It’s just Lion King for the most part.
@RedCowArcade Well what you said is what a Normy would say unfortunately
Oh no, not a normy!!!!
@@RedCowArcade because it shits on everything that made the 1994 original great

Thanks for reviewing this movie so we don't have to watch it. :) plot followed what I would have guess it to be.
He lives in you from Lion King 2 is better than Circle of life
you cannot change my mind
Agreed!
You guys changed the outro call to action and now it doesn't sound like that crying british youtuber we all love to hate !
Doesn’t it though? 🤣

Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are dead. 💀
No coverage of the fires? Nah this is more important. Good call
Congratulations, you left the dumbest comment this week and it's not even close.
