- In 2004 JustPlanes spent a week filming 18 flights in the Cockpit of CEBU PACIFIC to 10 cities in the Philippines. This particular flight operated from Manila to Bacolod.

Captain Sam Avila, went on to become DCP for the A320, then CP for the ATR. Now the company VP for Flight Operations.
I miss this old vid it brings back memory .i onboard that dc-9 aircraft with my grandma wayback december 2003 with that livery of "city of davao" during december right after my christmas party in my elementary days we flew at next day our flight schedule was 11:45 in the afternoon bound to manila.
I remembered flying into the old bacolod many times visiting my moms family in the late 80s and 90s. The new silay airport is much more modernized with jetways and actually is more inland from the water

this is nostalgic. that was the old bacolod domestic airport which is now no longer in operation. there was once a philippine airline plane accident that overshoot the runway to the other side of the river.
God I missed those good old DC-9 jets when I flown since I was a kid. Very nostalgic memories.

The good old DC9. I miss these wonderful jets, used to travel a lot on them back when Finnair, SAS, Swissair and Iberia had them.
This pilot knows his stuff. Bleed air uses the 13th stage to de-ice the slats, knows that plane in and out.

Navigation by hand held portable GPS - interesting!
Even with today's new airliners and business jets they used tablets (not sure if it's an iPad as it looks it is) with navigational charts so any small tech not a part with the cockpit will definitely lessen load on the pilots.
My dad used to do that on the Twin Otter back then

Captain Avila is now Vice President for Operations of this same airline. Cebu Pacific now operates mostly Airbus and ATRs.

My iPhone has more computing power than this plane. I love it though, you really feel like you’re flying in these bad boys.
One time the Auto Pilot was inoperable, so the Cebu Pacific DC9 pilot hand flew it on a flight from Manila, Philippines to Hongkong.
Arriving at the Airport, freezing in the air there, god I miss those days.

Cebu Pacific have retired their DC9s, they now have an airbus-only fleet of jet aircraft.
I remember the time Cebu Pacific don't still invest on Airbus aircrafts and I think this is the Naia Terminal 4 and during this time the Naia Terminal 3 is still constructed.
