- Farmers in Kwara South have expressed their gratitude to the Deputy Senate Leader and Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial district, Senator Oyelola Ashiru, for his recent intervention and empowerment opportunities aimed at boosting agricultural productivity in the region.
In April 2024, Senator Ashiru launched a comprehensive empowerment programme for farmers across the district. The initiative, which began on April 5, 2024, included the distribution of essential agricultural relief packages to every Local Government within Kwara South.
These packages were designed to provide farmers with vital equipment and resources to enhance soil fertility and overall farm productivity.
The intervention has been met with widespread acclaim from the farming community. Farmers have reported significant improvements in their ability to manage and fertilize their farms, thanks to the new equipment and resources provided.
Several farmers shared their positive experiences with newsmen. Comrade Bade Olaniyan, Coordinator of the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) Kwara South Chapter, spoke through his deputy, Mr. Adebayo Kale Salaudeen, from Oko, Irepodun LG, highlighting the impact of the initiative on rice farming in the area.
Other farmers, including Olanrewaju Olalekan from Omu-Aran, Irepodun LG; Rafiu Owolabi from Ipetu-Igbomina, Irepodun LG; Tawus Samson from Oko, Irepodun LG; Jimoh Kazeem Adeniyi, Alabi Wasiu Adekunle, and Murtala Muhammed from Igboidun Ward, Offa LG, also praised the Senator's efforts.
In line with his vision to create a self-reliant and sustainable district through agriculture, Senator Ashiru has announced plans to distribute additional multi-million naira worth of agricultural palliatives to all eligible farmers in Kwara South.
This ongoing support reaffirm the lawmaker's commitment to fostering agricultural development and economic stability in the region.
The farmers' appreciation and the tangible improvements in their farming operations stand as a testament to the success of Senator Ashiru's initiative, which continues to empower and uplift the agricultural community in Kwara South.
