Thank you for the great video! I've been using my GP9 for about 18 months on my fly fishing trips and I set it up with the max view mod and Hindsight and it works great I'll be using it underwater on a dive trip to the Philippines in November and was wondering if you would use the Max mod underwater ? Thanks very much
Hi Ryuta, excellent stuff thanks! Wanted to ask your advice when it comes to white balance settings for multi-level diving with video lights (5700K). This is day dives, so with a red filter. Do you suggest using flat with post editing for white balance or auto-white balance?
Hey Henry! Personally id use flat with post editing over auto white balance! Only thing is i usually film my stuff close to the surface without a red filter and am not 100% sure for the best settings with a red filter attatched. Either way you'll have more flexibility if u film without using auto wb!
Hi Ryuta , your videos are so helpful but i have a question , I’m going swimming with Turtles soon & night kayaking what settings do you recommend for the best outcome ?
Hey keyatta! I take it the swimming with turtles is during the day? If so then iso min 100, max 400, ss-auto, wb-5000/5500, hypersmooth-boost, 4k/60frames, colour-gopro for best results straight out of camera. Maybe switch the colour to flat if grading. Night is kinda hard with the gopro but id use similar settings as above but bump up the iso to something like min 400, max 1600!
Hi Ryuta, thanks for the video, just a quick question, I do Spearfishing, what would be the settings you recommend on my new Hero9 ? Same as you use? As there’s loads of movement with my gaggles Mount! Thanks In advance
Hey Man! For spearfishing i imagine each video is gonna be pretty long and youll be going deeper so id set the iso to min 100 max 800 to get more light and set the colour to gopro colour as its harder to grade when your going from shallow to deep in one clip! Apart from that id use pretty much the same :) make sure to have the hypersmooth onto boost too! Good luck filming.
@@RyutaOg amazing, thank you so much, I’ll do that, and I’ll come back to show you the result, it’s for other Chanel of mine Team XtremeSub, just started posting a month ago, but usually use footage from others with older cams, but now with my new toy, let’s see what it makes, thanks a lot again 🙌👍👍
@@RyutaOg Hi Ryuta, Gentleman Stories here, well thanks man, the settings really work out, i didn't post yet this new footages but i will soon, on this channel, @TeamXtreamSub and you´ll see the next upcoming video, but now I'm coming to you for another reason, regarding Hero9... i have a question, did it ever happened to you that while underwater, the H9 only records sound? its a bit frustrating when i get back home to check my videos, and its already the 2nd time it happens, a bunch of sound files instead of the standard gopro Mp4... any advice or solution? ive check settings already but there's nothing there...would it be a shortcut like pressing the record button for a bit of time? or maybe just a quick tap... the only setting i have changed is the screens off during record, and your preset image mode. let me know, if you have any advice, thanks in advance
Depends on what ur capturing but i love the wide view that the gopro can film, its pretty unique. If ur planning to zoom into a macro creature then linear but then again gopro isnt that suited for macro photo/video!
Im planning on a night dive and a day dive soon. What settings would you use 50ft underwater? Im not planning on doing to much in post. But you never know what you might see underwater.
for a day dive id go something like 4k/60, iso 100 min 400 max, medium sharpness, gopro colour, bitrate high, hypersmooth boost, wb 5.5k! probably similar for the night dive maybe iso max to 800 depending on how many lights ur gonna have!!
Hi Ryuta,,,, i have a question ,,, is it normal that the vedio files of hero 9 is way too big ,,, is there any way to save it to small files ,,, i will upload it to Imovie ,,,
Your files are proportionate to the stop start on the go Pro. What I do is enable quick capture. Hit the record button when I want to film and back off again while moving to the next location. Try that. Also, if you have the Hero 9, turn off the high bitrate
Hey Ria, if the files are too big u might be filming in 4 or 5k with bitrate set on high. If u want a smaller file size shoot in 1080/60frames and medium bitrate for a smaller file. The quality might decrease by a bit but not too much!
@@RyutaOg Hi Ryuta ,, if i will use the 1080/60 how is the quality of the vedio ? is still same quality of 4k?? but anyways i will check it later,, Thank you so much for the info..
Hi Ryuta, Great video! I am looking to pickup a Hero 9 (upgrading from a hero 4) and this video gave me an excellent idea of what I will need to do for my next shark dive. My only suggestion would be to raise the volume a little bit, I had UA-cam sound slider and my laptop maxed out and a little bit of your commentary was difficult to hear.
Hey Ben thanks for watching and also for the input! Ill make sure to export the video louder next time. Best of luck getting shark footage, i am very jealous!:)
@@RyutaOg Thanks for answering, I'm going to buy a gopro but I don't know which model 8 or 9. I have the hero 4, I want it for diving. but people report a lot of hero 9 bugs and that makes me wonder. If its for the goggles the hero 8 should be fine id say :) The hero 9 has the self facing screen and 5k but if ur not using those features then 8 will be good!
Just changed my GoPro settings to your suggestions!! Can’t wait to see the outcome! Thanks for a short and sweet but informative video!
Thanks for the tips
