  • Hi Everyone,
Welcome back to my UA-cam channel and to the start of another new project. The main area of this project/build will be designing and building a state-of-the-art lithium battery for the 29” Boardman 8.8Mtr mountain bike. The battery packs you buy mostly contain cheap cells and poor design quality. Not only this, but I also wanted to make the most of the little capacity, to place the cells to form the battery banks as demonstrated in the introductory clips. Basically, to make the most out of the little space I have available.
I selected this 29” bike because of its appealing looks, but mainly its critical components. I.e., Hydraulic brakes for impressive stopping power, 150mm travel adjustable air suspension. Also, it will handle much better at higher speeds. I previously started this video at a location near a river, and annoyingly a storm appeared and blew the helmet/box into the river and the bike on its side. See video (Jeffrey Henderson | Green Beast (Speed Freak) | Custom E-Bike | Part 1 (Day From Hell)) on my channel for this disaster.

The motor kit I originally purchased months ago for this bike, has a power rating of 3000w with peaks of over 5000w with the original 80A controller with a suitable battery pack. I have now decided to source a Sabvoton 200A or a Fardriver controller with a QS273 Motor. My mind was changed here overnight whilst starting this project video, mainly because the battery pack I have designed and configured will be able to provide a significant amount of continuous current @ 250A, owed to the 50s cells having a huge discharge (standard) rate of 25A per cell. I have now also been thinking to increase the 200 cells to 208 to achieve a 96v (26s) 40Ah (8p) battery to increase the top end speed of the e-Bike even further. I haven't got the room to make a 96v (26s) 50Ah (10p) battery pack anyway, without ruining the look of the bike.
I will see what I decide over the next couple of weeks. Building a 96V battery with the cells I already have reduces the battery capacity by 10Ah, and I also will need a new charger, another BMS, hub motor and controller. If I stick at 72v (20s) 50ah (10p) it will be the cheaper option here as I’ve all the compatible items purchased.
The next video (part 2) will focus on adding all the accessories displayed in the video clips excluding the batteries and BMS for now. Part 3 will then start with the custom battery pack following with part 4 and part 5. After this I will be designing a (slick) mirror polished stainless steel case for the pack or for the right and left battery banks. So, I have a lot to do on this project in the upcoming videos/parts, but it all will be very interesting as time goes on.
I hope you enjoyed this video, please hit the thumbs up if you did. If you want to see this project evolve, please subscribe, and hit the post notifications bell to see the latest from my channel.
Peace out!! Much love! Jeffrey 😊

I'm finding it hard to believe that the hub motor is 15,000w my ebike is 15,000w for a fact. Not sure if they sold him a kit that's not what it should be.

Nobody is claiming the motor kit seen in this intro is 15kw. I stated its spec, and it certainly wasn't 15kw that you suggested. 'Him' knows exactly what a 15kw motor should look like. I think you skipped the whole ending?

'Him' lol, are you refering to the guy who put the time and effort into the video you replied to, who probably seen your comment first. Ask him, query him! Don't knock him to others! You clearly didn't read the description or listen to when he clearly states, he has now decided to move away from the 3kw orignal idea. Yours facts on your bike are nothing to do with his E-Bike project!
I look forward to this brute of a battery pack, what ever motor he uses! Great explanation! I really hope you show this triangle design in detail for others.

@@MarkBurton-tk8dy It's sweet, I don't think he seen the ending because of lenghty intro. Anyways, the bike will have a modified 96v 150a controller with mod for display to work and a QS Hub motor with modified swinging arm.😊
