    Makes me sad to read negative comments about Dan Duryea, he was one of the sweetest, most honest, family men in hollywood, he just played a creep because as he said, 'there were lots of nice guys, hollywood needed creeps", he endured a hard life but rose above it. I've grown to love him over the last 50 years and honored to have seen him in this series the last days of his fantastic acting life.

      I agree Norman is a child stamping his foot. He needs to grow up. Yes Eddie was right.

    I don't agree with, nor do I even believe so much as ONE word of what Eddie Jacks said to Norman. There was never any evidence that Norman only married Rita "for show." And everything out of Eddie's mouth is a lie and it's obvious he wants to get to Peyton's money through Rita. Also, if I were Norman I would have called the police and had Eddie "locked up" right on the spot. There's not a chance in hell I would have "kept this just between us." Why? I like Dan Duryea but I really can't stand Eddie and he gets worse with each and every episode. Just saying.

    My, Peyton has known Norman since he was born, still can not comprehend what kind of guy he is? that he has nothing to do with Jacks? If Peyton saw so shrewdly Betty's positive qualities and demeanour, then why he can not comprehend his own grandson's?

      SoapsNThings - You're exactly right. Norman's moral superiority was a constant problem throughout the series as well as his inability to mind his own business. Eddie, despite all of his shortcomings, was actually right in this instance. Also, Dan Duryea was a superb actor, the episodes with him were the best in the series IMO. Thanks for posting these episodes; I haven't seen them since they originally aired.

    Norman was dumber in this episode than in any other. His grandfather offers to pay all Rita's medical bills and Norman isn't interested; Eddie was actually right for once.

      It's easier to understand Norman's character when you consider the cultural backdrop. He has that idealistic 1960s anti-establishment, generation-gap mindset like so many kids had back then. It's a short-sighted attitude for sure, but I do enjoy his character and his relationship with Rita. He has this starry-eyed vision of adulthood that keeps running up against reality.

    • @suki44883
      @suki44883 4 роки тому +12

      So little? They've only been married a few months and so far, he has accused her of having an affair with Rod; he believed a false report about what Betty did in New York; he humiliated her in front of the Governor and PP elite; he's refused Betty's numerous requests to leave that house; he forced Betty to go along with his scheme to have Mr. Peyton declared incompetent; and now, he got involved with Adrienne, which was the final straw. How much more is she supposed to endure?

    On Jack’s Norman and Rita their marriage issues the good book says that when you marry you leave your parents and cling to each other you build your home your way are your life this is to be done even in cultures where the Familia constancy is to live together that’s still has to be the pattern they still have to be even as we honor our mother and father that the newly married cling to one another this can be difficult as we have seen the violence out of any jacks Rise Against normal anger words for there is something deeper than a man who is allowed to return after allAfter all those years and resume his life so to speak with a little trouble even with the former wife will never divorced him yet there is no intimacy there many women of Ada’s elk and waves and time never divorced their husbands but remained powerfully separate so it took a lot for her child who is ill to allow this circumstance and this really can’t say it’s easy when you know what you want to disavow what others have been throughClear circumstance of a man who would walk away from a newborn and a wife was just born their first child speaks to the kind of selfishness and yet there is more to the story than has been told I’m sure
