My daughter and I have been long distance trail running, backpacking, hiking, training, and racing in FF's since 2012. We have quite a few vids on the channel. A little tip for the lacing. After you slide down the lock, take that extra amount of lace and twist it once. It will make a little pig-tail and lay flat on the shoe. Then stick the velcro piece to the shoe.
Thanks for the tip mate! Personally I haven't had a problem with the extra bit of lace but I can see how that would come in handy during a long trail run or hike
An amazing review! You are soo articulate, and informative :) I had been wondering how these shoes would do on the trail, and seldom found information online about this. Thanks to your review, I have confidence in buying these shoes now. Really lucky to have intelligent, and well spoken individuals like you in the community!
Oh wow, that's a really nice comment, thank you mate I appreciate that! And most of all, I'm happy that the information has helped you in your decision 🙂 let me know how you get on with the shoes! 👍
Which category did you find most informative? I hope this info helps for all the minimalist shoe lovers out there! More reviews to come including more cushioned footwear like Altra and Asics. Thanks for watching! Cheers, Jaspar
I found the whole review helpful. I’m working on finding a comfortable footpath/ road walking shoe. At the moment I’m using the trail shoe with socks and this is helping with the jarring. Overall I just love vibram shoes because of the ground feedback that I get. This helps me to walk confidently as I’ve lost a lot of ground propitiation on my left foot due injury.
@@tictactoe325 thank you so much for the comment, I really appreciate that mate and glad that the review has helped 😊 I hope your foot injury continues to improve! I have a couple of foot exercise routines on my channel if you wish to check those out and I hope they can help also 👍 cheers
@@jasparvowden hi 👋 Thank you so much for thinking of me. Unfortunately, this stems from a neck and spine injury. I got hit on the head with a 30kg weight, which scrunched a heap of things. I’ve made a good recovery from where I once was and I’m grateful to be walking and mobile.
@@tictactoe325 oh wow that's a scary injury!! Amazing that you've recovered this far though. Those kind of life changing events certainly put things in perspective don't they! All the best with your continued recovery mate 👍
It definitely is possible, I've run a 100km in vibrams and I have a mate who did the same thing. I think it would depend on how experienced the runner is with barefoot or vibram shoes and also how strong they are over those ultra marathon distances. Personally I prefer the vibram v trail 2.0 for the longer distances because they usually involve a variety of terrain and that shoe is amazing for tackling trails
I think you could add 'Value for money' They are expensive, but I've run nearly 3,000km on my v-runs and the sole still has plenty of life left. You'd be going through 4 or 5 pairs of normal running shoes
That's a great point mate! I have been thinking about that lately running in both vibrams and other cushioned shoes and the vibrams always last much longer. Will certainly bring that up in future videos. Cheers 👍
Do you mean running on a flat surface? Out of all the vibram shoes I've run in I've found the V run to be the best on road or concrete and also love it for weight training
Hi Justin, thank you for your comment! Personally I find this model of Vibram is a little more difficult to put on as it seems that there is extra stitching in the first couple of toe pockets which makes it a little tighter. But once the shoe is on foot, it fits the same as other models in my experience. I hope that helps!
My major issue is the durability. They tear and stretch out too easy. They are not worth the money in my opinion. The V-train 2.0 or original V-Train is a much better multipurpose( with the exception of water uses ) shoe that is more capable of handling daily wear and tear.
I have found them to be very durable after many of years of running and racing in them and also putting them through some intense gym sessions. I haven't tried the V-Train model but have also heard great things so I'm sure you're correct there. I would definitely like to try it one day. I appreciate the comment! 👍
Hey Martin, yes these are my favourite vibram shoe to run on the concrete with as they feel as though they have a little more cushion and bounce to them compared to other models I've tried
@@DevelopingNL I haven't tested my 5k and 10k times in the v run in a long time but I would say the times would be very similar as I have more running experience in vibram compared to any other shoe so I feel fast in them
Yes I agree the colour options are fairly limited but that doesn't bother me too much. I would love to see a more performance based shoe from Vibram with a little bit of extra technology as a race day shoe and also a shoe to help people transition to more minimalist footwear
I use a variety of shoes to run in depending on terrain. I am planning to make a video of my current shoe rotation so please stay tuned for that one :D But I will use the V-Run primarily on consistent terrain such as concrete, treadmill, or track, and I also love wearing them in the gym during strength training!
Sorry I just realised you said watch, not shoes! My bad! 😂🤦♂️ I have a Huawei smart watch that I got for free with a phone purchase but I am hoping to save up for a Garmin watch in the future. One of my good mates has one and he loves it 👍
@@jasparvowden Garmin is quite expensive hey. I got some vibram eco and also vivo barefoot minimals I’m still building up my feet I got injured from doing too much too soon. Just run on the grass for now no concrete
@@alexanderstevens145 how do you find the vivos compare to the vibrams? Yes that's great you're sticking to the grass running for now it is much safer and also adding in some hill runs for a variety of undulation is great on the body. Do you perform calf raises or other strengthening exercises for the feet and ankles?
@@jasparvowden I have to really wait for a few more months of use to give an honest review. They both react similar but I go quite slow in them both so it’s hard to say which I prefer . I fell off a roof a few years back and my foot is injured in the same area so I’m not sure what’s going on.

Greatest long-run shoe ever made.
